the breakfastbuffetwas good. lots of options. however we visited this place recently for coffee. the cappuccino (350++) was 1/4th of the cup - just one gulp . the latte was one big cup, taste poor though. the south indian filter coffee had undissolved powdered milk.
dessert menu never reached the table to try anything. the absolute worst part of the coffee experience was the tableware ..coffee being served in blue , orange and yellow coffee mugs !!
i thought maybe our coffees got switched with the coffees of their staff. because there is no way a prestigious 4/5 star hotel will serve coffee in those ordinary mugs. no teapots. no cup and saucer.
white plastic side plates and multi colored mugs. not even a cookie accompanies the coffee..

you expect fancy coffee, you get worse than bachelor pad coffee mugs!!

so this was an unexpected visit on a sunday for dinner. thebuffetspread looked very interesting but definitely could taste better.
the starters were nice and made fresh. special mention for the paneer and fish.
moving to the main course the dishes were quite ordinary. nothing stood out to make you want a second serving. the prawn preparation/ dish of the day was nice and also the tenderloin in black sauce. biryani quite average and so were the other indian dishes.
the desert section was a let down as the pastries had loads of variety but tasted quite ordinary. the staff also seemed quite disinterested except for one man who was trying hard to cater to about four tables.
over all an ordinary experience that lacked the five star feel.

we went for a brunch today and we were really disappointed with the brunch !! indian starters (live counter) for both veg and non- veg served stale super oily tasteless food, i complained as well but they didn't even check back...pasta and mongolian were another set of live counters with again below average taste... most of the spread we felt was stale and dessert section was very limited and sad with no good dessert to taste and all looked very stale... the cake they had there looked like a dummy cake 😂... main course was also average and here we come to an end to the brunch spread !! all in all it was a very below standardbuffet!!!

we went in for a ny brunch but the experience was kinda below average. thebuffetis spread across the garden area which stands by the pool offering a fine dining experience from a reputed name, you think...! 😅

surprised to witness such poor management from a highly trained staff. nobody including the staff knew what all things are there and where to find them! the staff lacked briefing making an impression ‘this’ was not their regular thing. if you’re looking for a plethora of variety in food, this is *not* the place. most of the food was towards bland which was expected, but they were not “tasty”. the live stations were something a ‘bachelor could also cook’ - simply put awful.

the best part was the beverage section - i asked the bartender to make virgin mojito - he poured some sprite & dropped couple of mint leaves.

after witnessing this, shellshocked this review popped up in my head & we left for a better place.

i celebrated turning 24 at the lalit ashok. we had abuffetlunch. the snacks were limited. however the taste was upto the mark. the main course lacked in options and some of the items were just bland. however the highlight were the desserts, with a wide variety of items on offer. this being a 5 star restaurant thebuffetcost was on the higher side, as expected.

we were there for saturday lunchbuffet. some private function was going on. service way to slow for the star hotel standard. nobody to clear the plates, nor to refill water. dessert spoons missing. not sure if there were any live counters . nobody to guide or explain. no ice creams or drinks with the buffet. the watermelon juice we ordered and paid separately came after 25 mins wait. the bill took another 30 mins. this is the standard of service provided for the price we paid. now thebuffetpart . the cream of broccoli was watery. there were enough starters but the salmon on the sushi and maki looked dried . not fresh enough . as for the main course , very little variety for non veg lovers . dessert was okish . mostly indian sweetmeats. no fresh fruits nor drinks . the bill came to 4075 ++ for a watermelon juice and 2 adultsbuffet.
total waste of money . will not return .

walked in here for brunch on sunday afternoon. they have the brunch served in the poolside garden.
since i had never been to anybuffetrestaurant with the spread served in the garden, i was super excited and trust me it was worth the expectation.
there was a live performance happening and with all the classics being played which was a cherry on the top.
coming to the food, there were a few live counters serving chats, pasta, chinese, few south indian delicacies, fries and tava fried veggies and meat.
in the drinks they had wine, beer, scotch, aerated beverages and fruit juices.
the main course spread was also good with two dessert being served along.
everything on the spread tasted heavenly.
there was a clown and a guy making fancy shapes from the balloon for the entertainment of the kids and a tattoo artist.
overall i had an amazing experience, would definitely recommend and would also like to visit again

went for their lunchbuffettoday with a couple of friends. was quite impressed with the quality of the food. they had very tasty appam and stew and also had beef fry in kerala style which was a perfect accompaniment with the appams. the pork belly was also wonderfully cooked. their dessert section was very impressive too.

right, visited this place with my wife for a lunchbuffeton a saturday afternoon to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and was left thoroughly disappointed! the food was just about average, nothing really praiseworthy, ambience was also just about average, but the service is what disappointed me majorly and that is what i'll be talking of most.

let me elaborate, i make a booking of 2:30 pm via zomato and reach the restaurant around the same time, we go to the restroom, get freshened up and settle down at our table by 2:40 pm. a waiter asks us if we'd like to go for thebuffetor a-la-carte, i evaluate the options and choose to go for the buffet, so by this time it's 2:45 pm now. i just go and take a bowl of soup and a couple of starters and while i'm just starting with my meal, a waiter comes and informs us that "sir it's 3 pm now, thebuffetwill be closed, hence please take whatever you'd like cause we'll be removing the items now"!!! get this, just 15 mins into my meal, i'm told that thebuffetwill be closed, hence please take all that you want now. anyways, i just get on with it, grab a couple of plates and take multiple servings of all the items which look good and interesting to me (regardless of whether i'll be eating them or not, i took a serving cause hey, thebuffetwas about to be closed and i had to take everything i wanted at one go.)

annoyed by this i just settle down at the table around 3:10 pm with multiple plates around me full of food. i start tasting a couple of items and then comes another waiter and informs us "sir we'll be closing the dessert counter now, hence please take all that you want"!!!

so basically, i had not even had a single serving of any of the items properly and had to make sure that i take all the dessert items as well.

once again, i go to the dessert counters with a couple of plates, take multiple servings of all the items present and return to the table and somehow manage to fit all these plates onto the table at one go. and at this point of time i'm fuming with anger but kept my emotions under control cause after-all, it was our wedding anniversary celebration. mind you, if the food had been good then perhaps all this wouldn't have mattered much but the food was also strictly just about average.

after that, all waiters just got busy with removing the items one by one from the buffet, no one cared about people still having their meal and no one was interested to attend to their requests.

hence a few questions to the management.

1.) if you intend to close thebuffetby 3:00 pm sharp, why take bookings itself for 2:30 pm. you seriously expect me to finish my entire 3 course meal in just 20-25 mins??

2.) if a booking is still made by a customer for 2:30 pm, why give him the option ofbuffetitself, when you know that you'll be closing thebuffetat 3:00 pm. being a responsible 5 star hotel, aren't you obliged to notify your customers, who come at 2:30 pm, that thebuffetwill be closed at 3:00 pm.

3.) still, if you're hell bent at closing thebuffetat 3:00 pm even for customers who've come just at 2:30 pm, why are you hell bent on removing all the items? just leave them there, don't refill and we'll help ourselves with whatever is remaining. why the urgency to get all the items of the shelves. are you running a restaurant or a mess?? (let alone a 5 star restaurant).

what is the purpose of all your urgency?? absolutely ridiculous.

things do not end here, while making the booking, i had mentioned that we'll be celebrating our anniversary, now even a small budget restaurant arranges for a small cake and a token gift on special occasions like birthdays, anniversary etc. but what does the grand lalit ashok do?? nothing, absolutely nothing!!

finally, i just pay the bill and walk out, thoroughly and completed disappointed and annoyed with my experience here.

i had huge expectations actually, considering that the lalit is a well established brand among 5 star hotels and has been around for quite a while. but was left absolutely devastated with my experience here.

even a small roadside restaurant would take better care and would provide better service to their customers than what i got here, and to think of it, it is a 5 star hotel. yeah right!!
