zuri social lounge

i must say i’ve never tasted such a fresh and tasty green salad, it’s one of the things that one can easily take for granted as you kinda know what to expect every time but this time, the one i had in this restaurant was really special, well done guys👏🏿. thefoodwas amazing we had a delectable pork belly and perfected - medium done lamb chops👌🏽.

the vibe was so amazing as well and the music was awesome. the service was good also but nothing to rave about there... zuri you have yourself a new “regular”!

thefoodis ok. a bit overpriced for average food. the place misses a bit of intimacy. it’s not child friendly neither is it ideal for a couple on a date.

on two occasions i was at zuri, the service remained the same, not very friendly but just fine!

i like the vibe, the views from the outside! thefoodwas great on both occasions, the sushi was great and what a lovely twist to apple crumble!

great atmosphere. the stuff is friendly. thefoodis to die for. i went there with my colleagues we had a nice time and i will definitely go there again.

zuri is a sanctuary in a very busy mall. as a young person with no kids and not that much money i find no reason to be at mall of africa. however, upon finding zuri i find a reason to make the trip. thefoodisn't that great especially since i don't eat meat ( i have heard great things about the pork belly) but the atmosphere and drinks are what make zuri great. getting drinks with friends cheering and listening to music is the perfect way to unwind and zuri does it perfectly with comfortable stays great drinks and a perfect view. the price is not for everyday, but if you save up and budget well treat yourself to a great night at zuri watching the sunset

bad service, the staff is horribly trained, you would think they work at a fastfoodplace not a "social lounge". the manager was so unapproachable and abrupt, you wouldn't even want to give him feedback directly. dirty cutlery. the longest wait for a cappuccino. when you order the pistachio brulee, you will get normal creme brulee with not a trace of pistachio, solid candied sugar on the top layer that you'd have to crack with a hammer and burnt almond brittle on the side. the only thing i can praise is the sushi, which was great.

wonderful place to chill and appreciate good things.foodwas devine and the drinks also very good. but service at up stairs bar when full is a problem!

it has taken me some time to post this review, simply because i was trying to think of a less negative way to write it, after our incredibly disappointing team lunch there last week. 

what is more confusing is that the prices are really steep, which i don't mind because i am more inclined to hope that we will then receive better quality service and treatment but neither happened. 

so i will just state facts:
1. i booked a table of sixteen (16) people with michela vigliotti on the 24th july 2017 for the upcoming friday lunch time. 
we arrived on the friday lunch time and were left standing outside because there was no booking under my name for some reason. 
after several minutes i then walked inside, asked for the manager and he finally asked where we want to sit.. 
they then assembled a table of sixteen (16) in front of us all there and then. 

2. the drinks. 
as drinks were ordered, for some reason certain people got their orders. others just didn't. for example, two people ordered a glass of red wine. one person got theirs, and the other waited ten minutes before having to walk inside to request it at the bar. 

3. the food. 
thefoodwas the same situation and almost chaotic. we were served by several different waiters who i can only assume didn't communicate the orders with each other. 
this led to certain people either just not receiving their orders, and others received incorrect orders (thereby having to send their dishes back). 
the lady sitting next to me, actually offered her chicken ballotine to me to try because it was so tough (and overcooked) that she could not cut through it with her knife. 

4. the ambiance. 
at lunch time, unfortunately it sounded like a nightclub but with almost crackly speakers outside due to the bass. we had to request that the blaring music through the speakers outside was turned down. 

5. the service.
apart from the fact that the orders were incorrect, that there were several different waiters serving us throughout the lunch (and i personally had to walk in twice to ask about my order), i can say that it was friendly. 

*recommendation: its safe to say that i thoroughly regretted recommending this spot to my boss and team. after apologizing and consulting with the other members of my team who were at the lunch, its safe to say that they sadly won't be returning either. my recommendation is that i don't recommend zuri social lounge at all.

we visited zuri social lounge as part of a large group. we were seated outside but the inside is beautiful, spacious and luxurious. much nicer than the outside seating but alas the live music plays from outside. thefoodis quite pricey but we enjoyed snack platters and sushi which were all yummy and fresh. they also have a huge drinks menu to choose from. service is ok, nothing to write home about. overall it was a good experience.

apart from the poor service we got from the waitress. we really enjoyed thefoodand the scenery from our table made for an even better night.  thefoodarrived right in time, coupled with the background music it definitely exceeded our expectations.  zuri provides a lovely ambiance for goodfood& conversation and ultimately relaxation.

was *love* at first sight. 

place was full and there wasn't any tables available. we opted to wait at the bar, after a while and seeing that it's not getting better we saw a nice spot of which we asked the waiter if they could just set up a small table with two chairs of which they gladly obliged.

 * we were entertain by "noir et blanc"  which added the ambiance which is already 5 stars
 * service was excellent - they went out of their way to make us comfortable.

place definitely made impression - hope it gets better with future visits

zuri is cool. very fancy place. my friends and i went to have some drinks after dinner. the prices are quite steep but the drinks are great. the setting is also really upmarket. even the staff are dressed up. not too sure about thefoodbut with those prices, i will stick to just having drinks here. good vibe and good service. will be back for a sundowner.

we were enticed by the look of the place the previous night whilst eating at kream and decided to return to try it out. 
zuri has the appeal and potential to be the go-to place but it is severely let down by the service and the management of the place. 
if i must judge purely on thefoodthat i received, it would be rated 10 out of 5, that's how good the kung fu platter was. but that's about it. 
the service was sloooooow and the waitress didn't know anything. every question was met with "i don't know"
the soy sauce bowl arrived dirty and the r65 mojito cocktail was literally 3 sips. whilst i understand that the restaurant offers a certain experience for the price you pay, the experience in this case was lacking.
if i return it would only be because of the amazing sushi platter i had, nothing else stood out.
