yulli's

yulli's is a great restaurant fusing australian and asian cuisine together. we came in a large group and ordered a variety of dishes.servicewas friendly and relatively fast. the stand out dish for us was probably the mushroom and vegetable skewers and chilli and thai basil flat rice noodles. the dishes were full of flavour and presented beautifully, though servings were a bit small. overall, however, we had a very pleasant dining experience and would not hesitate to come again!

  “ask not what you can do for your country. ask what for lunch.” orson welles i remember the first time i went to yulli’s . i read a lot of good reviews on yulli’s and recommended that we go there for lunch one fine saturday. my boyfriend, the non-vegetarian, agreed, but quickly gave me a frowned look when we got there and he realised that there’s no meat on the menu. luckily, he spotted a vegetarian burger with halloumi cheese  and he was instantly a happy man. fast forward a few months, we have been to yulli a few more times and it has become one of our favourite spots for weekend lunches. it’s not easy to find an eating spot that caters to both of our dietary and dining preferences, so i was over the moon when both of us were equally impressed with yulli’s food andserviceon our first visit. great spot at the heart of surry hills, great food, good service, awesome presentation, tick, tick, tick. yulli’s menu is largely seasonal  with some popular signature dishes that are availabl

loved the aura. we were given a table at the back which gave our group privacy so we were able to have conversations. the food was really good and theserviceand attention paid to us was great! they made sure to arrange the right portion of their savoury dishes to match the group size. entire menu is vegan and definitely worth the money! recommend the sticky date pudding and the sweet potato donuts (if you like chewy dough-y donuts). would go back again!!

theserviceis a+ really friendly and accommodating. my biggest pet peeve? the award table and seating arrangement. the tables are very low and the are kind of tall. it's a little uncomfortable to sit that way.

the sticky date pudding is delicious. i always order this dish every chance i get. it wasn't exactly too sweet. we ordered a few things to share between the 3 of us. some of the dumplings weren't balanced out right - some just downright too sweet.

i went here for lunch on a saturday with my fiancee. being a general non vegetarian least of all vegan, i was a bit unsure of what to expect but i am very happy to say it was a great experience and i will go there again!

food: we had 1 each of the small, medium and large plates. to begin, edamame and coconut moneybags - perfectly fried with a crisp buttery batter. the soft edamame balanced the texture well and the coconut sang through. next was korean fried broccolini with sticky sauce. the fry was delicate, much like good tempura. the sauce was sweeter than i wanted but the crushed almond balanced it out well. finally, the miso eggplant with wild rice salad. this was my favourite dish by far - eggplant was smoky and creamy and the coriander garnish along with the tomatoes added brilliant flavour and sweetness.

value: generally i like my meat so i end up paying for it. i was pleasantly surprised at how cheap the meal was - $55 for only three dishes! given the location,serviceand quality this is the best you could ask for. i imagine you would get a couple of steaks at the clock across the road for as much and it wouldn't be nearly as good.

service: very quick to serve and bring out the food. we weren't there at peak time but very impressed nonetheless.

overall yulli's does exquisitely in proving that vegans can experience high dining at reasonable cost. will recommend to my meat eating friends!

frustrating experience for mother's day booking. i have made a booking weeks in advance and confirmed however on the actual day (today morning) turns out to be no booking by one of the staff's mistake. and they are not even willing to do anything about it which is a terrible customer service. i cannot rate for whatever food they've got yet their customerserviceis just beyond disappointment.

i came with high expectations due to recommendations and the high reviews.
i’m happy that a place offers vegan options and was excited to see the variety of dishes.
my highlight were the money bags with edamame and coconut, the taste was delicious!
the other two mains disappointed me a bit as i expected a bit more flavour from the tofu wrapped in the naan pocket and the chickpeas croquettes.

service lacked a bit of attention this time. the place was busy and we were patient when things took a while to be served or the order to be taken. when the place got a bit more quiet we finished and ordered the bill; it didn’t come, so we happily went to the counter to meet the same waiter who we asked the bill from but he greeted us again with a “hi guys table for two?”. we had to inform him we were already going to pay (there’s only two waiters so we didn’t feel like theservicewas at its best. however, they were friendly in general).

my last note is on the extra charge for soy milk in coffee:
i ordered a flat white and the waiter asked me which milk did i want. i said ”regular” forgetting it’s a vegan place and he said they only have almond and soy (of course). i apologised for forgetting and chose soy but it came with a 50 cent extra charge on the bill. i found that a bit confusing if that’s the only option they have. unless almond is the one they don’t charge extra for.
i’m not sure i’d give it another go but maybe the rest of the menu is more flavourful.

the food was excellent. i recommend the cajun potato and chick pea croquets and the chocolate lava cake. the place has a vibrant atmosphere and the staff were delightful. my only criticism is that theservicewas very sloooow. we were seated for half an hour before anyone approached our table and then it was because one of us gave them a nudge. we were seated for exactly 65 minutes before our drinks arrived (after we had finished entrees). this may have been just a bad night but we were entertaining guests from europe and it was pretty embarrassing.

another amazing place with so much options for the vegetarians. a must try veggie lovers! went there with my bae and we decided to share the food so that we can try more dishes. we called for steamed leek dumplings, roasted cauliflower with avo and naan pocket - all of which was just scrumptious. theservicewas friendly and the ambience was great too.

worth for the money; the taste was good; an affordable place at the city; loved theserviceand the starters were good; the only negative was that sons of the sausage we asked to remove was still in the food

food was delicious n varied.servicewas very good, though started off a bit slow. they were busy on this particular night. it was a tad crowded and quite noisy. would go back to try some other dishes on their tempting menu.

went to yulli's for the first time today for nice vegan meal. unfortunately, this restaurant was less than underwhelming. very poorservicewith ordered food never arriving. very poor service. left with no food and very hungry after waiting for 45 minutes

food was great,servicegood as well. just one thing, we were told that our table was booked at 7:45 while we actually booked the table for 6:30. i've never met that before. no one appeared when we left at 7:50 though. a bit strange but food was really great. mini vietnamese pancake and 5 spice tofu are delicious.

expensive food but big portions. both the tofu and dumplings are bland and tasteless. they are not too bad. but probably not what i expect. customerservicewas negligible and cold too 👎👎

loved it!! beautiful, delicious vegetarian food. theserviceis great and the food arrived to our table in less than a heart beat. the restaurant was full also! cocktails not the best but the food is definitely the highlight. can't wait to go back again.
