loved everything about this place... they have renovated the space and can accommodate more people than before. we ordered darjeeling steamed momos, chicken chipotle, pork chops, spicychicken thukpa, pho chicken & gusher and yeti potion for beverages. we had previously tasted chicken summer roll, chicken wai wai & chocolate tart which we skipped this time to taste a few new dishes. just loved all the items!

after hearing and reading a lot about this place for about a year or so finally we decided to visit this place. i must say the place is gem of its kind. we were lucky enough to get a seat as soon as we reach the restaurant.

this was the first time i was trying a tibetan and south east asian restaurant. i was like how did i miss to visit this place for such a long time. the food tastes amazing and yumm. the quantity is good enough for two. if ur visiting for the first time the staff can suggest you a good dish as per your taste or your preference.

review: 5/5

location and price: 5/5

food we ordered:

1. vietnamese iced coffee.

absolutely loved the dimsums here!!! to be honest, we were a bit sceptical when we saw where the place is located. however once you enter and settle down, and start eating, you forget about the surroundings 😂 we ordered the darjeeling steamed dumplings and the chilly garlic dumplings which just blew our minds! the summer rolls were very refreshing, dint know salad could taste so good! and thespicythukpa was perfect to end the meal. the portions are decent and the ambience is minimalistic. staff is nice and polite. overall a good dining experience which was quick and tasty.

most of you are well acquainted with the smiley house at ambedkar chowk, khadki. sadly, they had to shut down recently and yeti and the monk came up in its place.
for a restaurant that has opened up in an already established area, these guys had some huge shoes to fill. and boy, do they feel nice and snug!
they cleverly decided to continue serving a few items from the smiley house's menu to satiate the already well numbered clientele. of course, they've added their own spin to their dishes. having loved smiley house so much, i was skeptical about the taste of their dishes but decided to give it a shot.
first, we tried the chicken pho. this was a clear, flavourful broth with greens. i loved how they treated the chicken with spices instead of just having it boiled. this gave the dish a new dimension. and yes, it does taste as good as it looks.
next we tried the chicken spring rolls. these were little finger sized, crunchy bits of yumminess. they served it with a sweet andspicysauce.
next came the chilly garlic chicken dumplings. that's what you order, and that's what you get. the dumplings has the right amount of juicy chicken filling and when combined with the hoisin sauce, left you craving for more.
all these delicious items had whetted our appetite and decided to try the shrimp summer rolls (mainly because the people at the next table ordered the same and it looked yummy enough xd). the filling was great! summer rolls are healthy bites of goodness that even your doctor would recommend. they're full of veggies and all that's good for you and they're really light on the palate. by far, one of my favorites. i loved it then and even though the previous chefs aren't here, i'm not missing them anymore. (sorry, not sorry).
we were almost bursting but couldn't resist sharing a bowl of wai wai noodles. this had its own unique flavour and was served with boiled eggs and chicken. go ahead and drool over the presentation because that's what we did too. it was really filling and so we were really glad we shared that huge bowl among the four of us.
unfortunately, we didn't have room for dessert after noodles and broth took charge of whatever little space we had left in our stomachs. there are still so many items on their menu that we haven't been able to try but we'll be back soon.
ambience: 4/5
food: 5/5
service: 5/5 (they ask for and accept feedback very graciously)
value for money: 5/5

yeti and monk,
shop no.2, patil complex, ambedkar chowk, next to hdfc atm, khadki, pune, maharashtra 411020

#customerexperience #mustvisit #worthit

yeti and monk was on my bucket list for very long time but i never got a chance to actually go and visit the place as my friends don't prefer pork meat. somehow in december month i saw a post on peo and decided to visit the place.

i visited the place on friday evening, they've done some major changes in the interior and the restaurant looks more lively now. you won't feel dull or something while seating and hogging on your favourite food.

things we tried -

darjeeling steamed dumplings [ pork - 250/- ] = these juicy looking medium-sized dumplings comes in a medium thick coating and are packed with juicy minced pork meat which is again seasoned with in-house spices. the meat was super juicy and you get to have the flavorful broth in the inside which is the best thing i've ever had. last but not least the dip you get with the dumplings is something you won't find anywhere else. #musttry

vietnamese iced coffee [160/-]- one of the best vietnamese iced coffee i've had in a very long time. i had the vietnamese coffee at same place when the place was run by vietnamese people named as smiley house. this one is strong and i mean it. we had 2 drinks each and we couldn't sleep till 3 am. the coffee really tastes good and have balanced flavours which will make you have more.

spicy thukpa [pork 350/-] = then we had their famousspicythukpa , which is more than enough for two people. it comes in a heavy huge bowl which is packed with lots of things. the broth is a real deal , the flavor profile of the broth is on another level which is then accompanied by pork meat and i will suggest you guys to go with pork meat only as its the right choice. definitely have it.

pork chops with rice [600-800 rs] - you don't get this dish on weekdays and you need to make prior bookings. luckily when we went they started the dish on friday as well so we get to try the legendary dish. the pork chops were cooked to perfection and when you try to take a bite the meat was literally falling apart from the bone. the meat was so juicy and flavorful that you just can't stop at once bite. the dish is so heavy that we had to take the parcel and after having it after 3 days the taste was still the same or i'll say it was enhanced. so you can imagine how perfect they've cooked and seasoned the meat. #musthave.

the prices are definitely not on the pocket-friendly side but if you really want to try the best asian food then you must visit this place. i was shocked and blown away by the food and i think the amount we paid was totally worth it.

yeti and the monk is one small but comfy place in aundh serving some really authentic tibetian food along with a few wacky south east asian classics, they serve some really simple but delicious things like dumplings, pho and even thukpa ! the overall vibe of the place is really welcoming and warm, everything here is prepared to order and right from scratch let it be their stock or their noodles.
i had ordered two things from their menu, chicken summer rolls and pork dumplings. this place is really famous among the locals for their pork dishes and their thukpa too !

chicken summer rolls: 5/5 🌟🔥
a vietnamese classic of sliced carrots, cabbage and boiled chicken all wrapped up in a rice paper and served along side a sweet andspicydipping sauce. really loved this dish, i've never had such an authentic summer roll before, was really refreshing and went really well with the steaming hot dumplings !

pork dumpling: 5/5 🌟🔥
the best dumplings i've had till date, they can easily change the name to a soup dumpling. the dumplings were huge and full of pork broth in it, also the coating was very thin and the filling was full of juicy and moist pork. the dumplings were enough to tell me about their standard of cooking, simply stunning !

this place is jam packed during the weekend and they most of the time run out of portions let it be chicken or pork, if you are planning to visit this place especially for pork do make sure you reserve your portion a day before, that's how famous this place is. i will for sure visit this place the next time i'm visiting pune for their pork chops and pho ❤️

so so so glad to have visited this restaurant. everything they serve here is soul food.

a small restaurant playing some tibetan music, the ambiance will remind you of their origins.

- cause i have a weak spot for lemon grass, the lemon grass ice tea was legit bomb.

- darjeeling steamed pork dumplings - that filling of pork. taste and quantity just wow

- pork chops with rice - you know you normally need a knife to separate the meat!! how about you try using a fork. no jokes! used a fork cause it was falling off the bone. the flavours were just beyond words, a bit sweet but then that’s the vietnamese style, ask them for aspicysauce if you need more heat.

anyone and everyone who wishes to try out a nee cuisine, this should be on their bucket list for sure.
humble partners, courteous and a chef who dishes out some banging food.

definitely hooked to this place now, another plate of pork chops please.

cozy little space which is difficult to see from the road for first timers. the food here is amazing. good portions. the staff is very polite. i've triedspicythukpa, steamed dumplings, pho, wai wai on my multiple visits. best for me was thukpa. its not much spicy. please reach well on time to get what you want. they run out of options if you are late. i have always seen nice people here enjoying food and staff always asking for feedbacks to improve.

visited this place for quick snacks after office. the place is small with limited seating space but worth visiting. we tried steamed pork dumplings in the appetiser. it was juicy and delicious. then we hadspicychicken thukpa it was amazing and a perfect meal for one. i was expecting it morespicyand full of chillies. but the spice level was okay for me. felt nostalgic. also, we had chocolate tart in the dessert which was served with vanilla ice cream. the tart was also yummy.
overall it was an amazing experience and going to visit the place again.

yeti and the monk is a small place located in patil complex, near hdfc bank atm, ambedkar chowk in khadki. they specialises in tibetan and south east asian cuisine. they have a small & limited menu, but whatever they serve is top notch.

coming to food, we had:

chicken wai wai:

this flavorful noodle soup consists of wai wai noodles prepared with vegetables and chicken in mediumspicybroth, topped with hard boiled egg and garnished with spring onion.
the broth had perfect balance of flavour and spice. this dish tastes as good as it looks.
#highlyrecommended

spicy tofu thukpa:
this delicious noodle soup consists of noodles prepared with vegetables inspicybroth and topped with tofu and garnished with spring onions. it's a good option for vegetarians.

spicy chicken thukpa:
it is similar to that of tofu thukpa, but instead of tofu it had, chicken and hard boiled egg.
#highlyrecommended

overall it's a good place to try delicious tibetan food.

this place was recommended by a close friend in pune. and he was all praises about the food here. that grew the curiosity in me. and i am happy i took his advice.
the place looks small at first. the soothing tibetan hymns playing in the background transports you to a different place altogether. the menu is precise with food from tibet, bhutan and a few dishes from vietnam.
we ordered tofu summer rolls, veg dumplings, spicychicken thukpa and chicken pho. (we had a vegetarian friend with us, so ordered a few veg options).
summer rolls are something that you won't see on a lot of menus. so we were very exited to try those. very refreshing and healthy. goes really well with the dip they serve along with it. i didn't try the veg dumplings, but our vegetarian friend was all praises about it.
spicy thukpa was spot on, right from the presentation to the taste.
(they serve hard boiled eggs with the thukpa, which i am not a fan of).
pho was something that i expected it to be. very subtle and full of flavour at the same time. you can ask for hot sauce with it, if you need that extra kick. (one of us opted for it).
we also ordered the gurash cooler and a pot of mango white tea.
both complement the food very well.

final words: a must visit place for food mongers who want to try something new. definitely worth a visit.

p.s: the food might take some time and you have to be very patient. but it is definitely worth the wait.
also, you have to take off your footwear outside the restaurant.

hole in the wall, hidden gem, instant classic - i could call this place a lot of things, but none would do it justice. the menu is a carefully curated offering of tibetan and north east indian comfort food and you will be happy with whatever you order. in fact, you could shut your eyes and order whatever your finger lands on and you'd like it. we ordered pork momos, chicken summer roll, aspicychicken thukpa and ema datshi. every course was a revelation - warm and comforting, bursting with flavour and texture, but never a sensory overload. initially afraid that we'd over ordered for a party of three, we happily finished whatever we ordered and ended up calling for some vietnamese coffee and a chocolate tart on top. what a finish to a lovely meal! we were already more than happy with our four dishes, but the phenomenal dessert and coffee was what propelled me to write this review. incredible! if you try one new restaurant in 2020, let it be this one. kudos to the team!

small but tasteful outlet serving bhutanese / ne indian food that you are bound to relish. the ingredient are authentic and gives you a tatse that you would not have tasted otherwise.

ordered a portion ofspicychicken thukpa and darjeeling chicken momo as a part of my first time visit. the portion were very large. what i ordered was enough for two.

this place is worth a try and is value for money. repeated visits will help develop a taste for such food that are so rare in pune.
