there’s an abundance of brunch places in calgary and yellow door bistro attracted my attention right away. located in the arts hotel it’s tucked away down a hall. you get free parking if you park in the lot and they’ll validate your receipt. thedecoris super modern and clean. their brunch buffet is amazing bang for your buck.

at $24 a person it’s super reasonable considering all your options. they have a cheaper continental brunch but the regular one is much better. they have your classic brunch items like eggs benedict, bacon, hashbrowns, sausages and a whole lot more. they have a tiny area designated to desserts as well. overall the food quality was a 4/5 as the rotation of the food was decent but somethings like the already made eggs benedict suffered.

overall yellow door bistro is a nice place to grab a quick bite of brunch. i would be back for sure.

i had very high expectations entering the yellow door bistro. thedecorand service was excellent and welcoming. i opted for the 24.00 buffet choice and unfortunately i was very disappointed. you would think a breakfast buffet would include a few different egg options, pancakes, a variety of fruit, toast or waffles right? the buffet had one tray of bland scrambled eggs and egg benedict, no toast, pancakes, or waffles. the fruit choice was only melon and honey dew. the oatmeal toppings at the buffet was very basic, yogurt and brown sugar. i would have rather opted for the 15.00 continental buffet or the traditional breakfast choice. before you choose the buffet, take a look around at the options before hand.

not bad but no wow factor.  went with a friend during calgary's big taste event.  the coconut seafood chowder was more like a curry soup that was unexpected.  my main course was tuna wrapped with prosciutto with roasted potatoes and romesco sauce.  very nicely presented and taste not bad.  i think some other sauce could have matched the tuna better.  dessert was apple tart with oatmeal icecream which is not bad.  service was excellent anddecoris funky, but food is average.

look guys, it has a yellow door! i'm always fascinated about restaurants that market themselves in a unique way. like others have said, the yellow door bistro is connected to hotel arts but it has its own yellow door!

anyways, enough about the door. i walked through the yellow door early on a saturday morning and fell in love the smorgasbord ofdecorthey had inside the restaurant. the art pieces, wall paintings and sculptures added a very personal touch. i got a very old-school chic and trendy vibe from just sitting in this restaurant! while everyone raves about the weekend brunch here, it seemed a little heavy for me so i chose the traditional breakfast with a side of smoked salmon.

everything was presented very well. although the food was rather plain-jane (sunny-side up eggs, toast, hash browns, ham and smoked salmon), it was still delectable. the eggs and toast were your standard fare. the ham was a little sad, looking all hunched over on the side. but at least the hash browns were seasoned very well as they weren't overly salty or plain. there wasn't much to say about the smoked salmon unfortunately. however, i did love the little jars of jam and honey they had on each table. my server was pleasant to deal with and checked back from time-to-time to see how i was doing.

to be fair, i did order a pretty boring meal here but the great restaurants have their basics down pat. for the yellow door bistro, it was a good effort but nothing outstanding. pricing wasn't too bad either. i'll be back for their buffet and dinner offerings.

ate the breakfast on a weekday. amazingdecorbut the service was poor and food was so so. i assume they do the breakfast as a service to the hotel, but it was poorly done. it was very expensive and the food was basic. not worth the money. walk a few blocks and check out some other options that are much better.

yellow door bistro is a quirky restaurant attached to hotel arts.  the place is filled with such a random assortment of décor that works perfectly together, as it fills you up with a feeling of joy.   . pomegranate glazed quail- apple / endive pomegranate brown butter. the small and adorable quail was prepared very well and tasted amazing.  great depth of flavours which paired perfectly with the crispy apple and endives.  a little bed of braised quail underneath helped since john was starving.

brunch buffet setup. i haven't even entered the restaurant yet and i knew thedecorof this place is going to be nice. the tables and chairs are unique and different from the usual dining set up. the hostess and waiters were so nice and accommodating. we opted for the brunch buffet for $25 and it was a very hefty brunch. the buffet had everything from french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, mashed potato, bread, croissant, muffin and an orange juice that comes with the buffet. the buffet was kept warm and the set up was really nice and organized. all in all, my first experience there was marvelous! will definitely come back and try their menu for dinner or lunch

brunch surprise and delight at the yellow door bistro. we had never been here before and decided to try out the brunch on a sunday morning. we made a reservation for 10 am and i dropped a comment in the reservation box saying that it would be really great if we were greeted with a happy birthday (my partner was celebrating his 45th). mission accomplished. the manager seated us, wished him "happy birthday", then the server came by and seconded the birthday wishes and brought us a couple of complimentary mimosas (underpromise and overdeliver).

the brunch buffet was delicious -- standard fare: muffins, pastries, eggs, bacon, eggs benny and some wonderful extras (mint strawberry pancakes, a very popular croissant/bread pudding and tiny mason jars filled with berries, yoghurt and granola). as a great finish, they brought out a birthday dessert with a customized message written on a sheet of chocolate (see photo).

thedecorwas bright, fun and modern. there are some big, funky chairs scattered throughout the restaurant -- they look neat, but i can't imagine they are conducive to holding a conversation (i saw a gentleman get up and swap the big chair for a regular one).

overall, great first dining experience (at a very reasonable price) -- we'll definitely be back.

...i went to the yellow door bistro right beside hotel arts. the alice in wonderland inspired restaurant definitely has an impressivedecor(with a yellow door)! heirloom carrot and fairwind farm's goat cheese salad - golden raisin, orange cardamom dressing, toasted almond foam first course was the salad and can i say this made me change my mind about carrots? i personally don't like carrots but these carrots were cooked just right . it is also the day i've ate beets for the first time in my life and liked it (kind of reminds me of potatoes). nonetheless, the combination of the goat cheese, raisins, the slight tang of the orange cardamom dressing and the crispy frisée, came together! i thought it was an amazing salad!! never expected myself to like this (because i'm a pretty pi

thedecorwas certainly different, but after a while really just became annoying. food was a very long time coming and the waiter, although very pleasant, seemed unable to help the timing. i can certainly wait for good food but the steaks were not good at all. anything potatoe was horribly over salted. that ranged from the frys to the ioddly cubed mash. the knocchi was pretty good but the mushrooms horribly over cooked. overall not a great experience for the high prices. thedecordid not make up for that. will not be going back.

the restaurant is particularly proud of its environmentally consciousdecorthrough architectural salvage. feel like this lounge needs more of your lizard? settle into a couch below reclaimed wooden shutters from belgium, circa 1800.

fun, quirky, great food. at the beginning of the summer my wife saw the sign for yellow door and we thought we would try something old school ie. going in just because it looked interesting without reading any reviews. well, i think we have found a gem in the yellow door bistro. the atmosphere is one of the quirkiest in calgary with a variety of doors on the walls and adecorthat is classy while maintaining quirk - an interesting feat indeed! however, the positives do not just stop at thedecorit carries on to the menu as well. while the menu is not extensive what is there is tasty such as the fries and saffron aioli. the flat bread sandwiches and the pasta also did not disappoint. on the two occasions i have been so far all the staff has been very friendly and attentive making the experience at the yellow door bistro a pleasant one indeed!
