i am extremely angry with yamamoto’s.
for my birthday my son bought me a giftcertificatefor $50. he went to the entrance of the restaurant, told them what he wanted, and they gave him one on the spot. earlier this year i ordered a party tray that was about $30. when i went to pick it up, i tried to use the giftcertificateand they told me that their policy on gift certificates was that they did not refund money on partial purchases. that if i wanted to use the certificate, i would get no money back from the $50certificateand loose the $20 or so difference. so, i paid for the tray out of my own pocket. yesterday we decided to have a bunch of people over for sushi and use the whole $50 on a party tray. yamamoto’s refused to honour the giftcertificateat all. we argued for a bit and their final word was that they had never ever issued gift certificates and they would never ever redeem one. my son is looking for the receipt, at least the visa receipt, but may have paid cash for it and have no receipt. who knew that redeeming a partial giftcertificateand loosing $20 on the deal would have been my best option.
