no trip near issaquah is complete without xxx. this place is easily the most fun of any burger joint around...that's why they will have longevity past most burger joints you know. the whole xxx experience is like stepping into a time warp of classic cars and americana. this is a family owned establishment - they work very hard (and seem to have fun while doing it). fun for your family, too, as there is something for everyone to look at. their home-made rootbeer is delicious and refreshing, their shakes and sundaes are authentic soda-jerk style...burgers are so-so, you mostly go for the novelty.

if they didn't have the cars, i wouldn't go.... the only reason to go to xxx is to see the incredible array of cars on a saturday night. the cars are the real draw.

the food is mediocre to bad. the burgers are flat, greasy and flavorless. the root beer is no better than what you could buy in a can at your local store. and, the prices are outrageous! spending almost $30 for two people is way too much.

they could really take some lessons from in 'n out or 5 guys on providing quality food and service.

(btw there is a 5 guys at the renton landing now. go there if you want a good burger.)

are you kidding?. my girlfriend brought me to the xxx root beer drive on may 16, 2009. she isn't a meat eater but they do have a garden burger she eats.

i ordered the chevelle burger for $8.99. what did i get? a burger that was flat as a pancake. i was embarrassed when i looked at the burger...or what was called a burger...the patty was appromimately 3/8th of an inch thick. and that may be being generous. the only thing i could taste was the lettuce and the sauce...no meat. the portion was a joke. i have never in my life...ever... been served a burger that flat.

for the life of me i can not imagine how the xxx rootbeer drive-in can claim they serve burgers. my girlfriend was pissed. and so was i. i couldn't looking at anyone serving this food in the eye as the shear rip-off of meat was rediculous. the fries were soaked in dirty oil and the taste was a greasy mess.

my mug of rootbeer was packed with ice. i never remember ever recieving a "frosty mug" of rootbeer with ice! a&w never served their rootbeer like this. the only reason why the mugs are packed with ice is because they want to give a patron al little as possible while maximizing their profit...and the same goes for the meat on the burgers.

i can say the service was promt. but the promptness is of little value when the food is an embarrassing portion.

burgers get a 2 out of 10 on this review. but don't let me convience you...go there yourself and experience the disapointment for yourselves. pathetic.

wtf!?. it was our first time going to xxx burger, and we will never go back. but go ahead if you want a burger as thin as a piece of paper covered in a huge bun, and $6 rootbeer. for two, our meal cost $30! and it tasted like dick's or burgermaster. i cant say for sure, but i dont think this place is "family owned" either.

totally great food! awesome burgers, good enough to eat plain. bbq sandwich is also a favorite! i get a burger basket, bbq sand and a root beer, never disappointing. bring a bag of burgers for the road trip home!

old frozen burger patty. the food is clearly frozen patties and very cheap beef. there are many many burger places that have better quality food that are the same price or cheaper. this place needs to get its act together. it no longer trades on good food but car shows and nostalgia and has gotten very lazy with food quality which will eventually shut its doors.

terrible food; terrible service; overpriced. i stopped in here with a friend after a hike at tiger mountain. we both are root beer fans, so we were excited to see the xxx root beer drive-in on the highway food sign. when we sat down to eat, the first thing i noticed was that everything on the menu was really expensive. we figured that the portions must be huge. long story short: the portions were not huge, the burgers were worse than mcdonald's, and the root beer did not taste any better than barq's (could've been barq's even). i spent $20 for a terrible meal (cash only), had terrible service, and had an overall terrible experience. i would eat at any fast food restaurant over xxx root beer drive-in any day, and would save a lot of money as well.

absolutely awful burgers. not sure if it was mechanically separated beef, but it sure tasted like it. bad fries. shake was okay. root beer was good. one server was friendly, but our main one acted like she was irritated we were even there and gave us attitude the entire night. she also had only one other table, yet took 50 minutes to get our food. i had to track her down to get a bill... and then again to pay it. overpriced. atmosphere was... weird, but interesting. definitely unique.

if you're dying to see this place, just go for a root beer float. don't subject yourself to the expensive, terrible food.

great root beer.. coming here is both a gimmick and a blast from the past. they are very serious about their nostalgia that it plasters all the walls and the ceiling. nothing about this place is subdued, but that's how the people like it.
the service was friendly (though we were the first people in), and quick. upon realising that we were tourists, the person i assumed was the manager chatted us up, asking us where we had gone and talked about the history of the place.
as for the food, the root beer lives up to the hype as a far different taste than a&w or barq's. far more caramel and tasting like a sarsaparilla, the aftertaste is distinct and satisfying. the burgers were also good, though i would have liked to have a bit more meat in them for the amount that they were charging.

xxx. without a doubt the worst food we have ever had! i suppose the drinks were fine, but the burgers were nasty tasting, the fries were marginable and cost extra as did the cheap cheese. my 3 year old granddaughter ordered a kids hot dog and apparently they fried it! she would not eat it. my 5 year old granddaughter order the kids chicken strips and everyone but her had food a good 15 minutes before the strips arrived. that, we were told was due to the frying even though they were ordered before the burgers. so we paid red robin prices for this food and no one ate more than 3 or 4 bites of it. the ambiance is great, the old cars were great but the service and the food were a resounding thumbs down!!!

good, but not great. the root beer floats were good and very large (we ordered a small, but they were still huge) as were the fry's. the burgers left a lot to be desired though. the patties were thin, a bit over cooked, there was too much sauce and it costs $3 just to add cheese.

there are much better burgers out there and less expensive places to get them from.

it's an experience. most commonly i visit triplexxx to look at the walls and get a milkshake. their big greasy burgers are good for an occasional treat and its back room is a fun place to plan a party.
