awesome. you need to go to this place for the atmosphere alone! shakes were great and you got to try the rootbeer! my brother and i split a huge burger and it was just alright.

when we got to the restuarant it was nothing i had ever seen before. just by looking at the outside it looks like a 1950s diner. every wall in the restuarant is decorated and everything on the menu is named after a car. for lunch i had the chevelle s/s 39

disappointed. we've been here quite a few times and wanted to show it off to my in-laws. when we ordered and asked the waitress to cut our xxx burger like we have always done in the past she informed us that there is now a $2 plate splitting charge per item. we were all getting something (except for the kids who only eat the fries) so we told her never mind. when we got our food we all just try some of everyones. the manager than charged us $2 anyways. to top it off the food is not as big as it has been in the past. it's sad to see history turn this way because of greed.

pretty cool atmosphere and fast service, but every time i go there, i remember how much of a rip off the prices are. if you get a regular size root beer float, there's about a quarter scoop of ice cream and it's $6. a normal coke is $2 with no refills. most burgers are thin and not great. unfortunately i can't recommend this place.

used to be great-- not now.. we used to love this place, you could play the 50's juke box right from your table. now there are signs on the table top selector that say don't touch. the food has also taken a dive as others have noted. the final straw was when the new owners put very hot spices in the corn dog batter. my son couldn't eat it. i've always thought corn dogs were a disgusting, manufactured food, but this was one place that actually had a delicious home-made corn bread coating. the root beer is still great, and so is the atmosphere, but that's not enough to make me go back.

i love mexican food and hispanic people, but this owner and this particular restaurant are definitely an odd couple.

the burgers are dissapointing and the chili cheese fries are alright, but the root beer floats are huge and taste amazing! the interior is incredibly cramped, but in my opinion the atmosphere makes up for it. a little pricey for what it is, but fun!

worst hambergers i ever had. yes, the burger is the size of a dinner plate, but my god i don't think they could taste any worse. they don't even taste like any meat i've ever tried before. overpriced and horrible.
(but the cars that go there are definitely cool to check out. i recommend eating somewhere else first, then maybe visitng here for a root beer float for desert.)

fantastic root beer. this place is a bit spendy, but the root beer is truly amazing. bring some cash, a little time to savor a summer afternoon, and your thirst. the gentleman who owns the place is a car fanatic and will remember you, and ask after your family members, if you go there more than twice when it isn't crowded.

average, average, average. we just wanted a burger and frys. the burger was exceptionally small....i mean the meat. the bun was big, lots of lettuce and plenty of sauce but the patty was like a mcdonald's patty (not a 1/4lb'er but the hamburger).

we saw several people with ice cream which looked good but next time we want a burger we will go somewhere else.

great drinks, mediocre food, but worth the experience. growing up my family always stopped here on our way back to seattle from hiking or skiing. i was absolutely in love with it. after a long hiatus, i finally returned last year. the place has changed hands since my childhood and now the food is not great (burger and chili fries). the floats, as ever, were fantastic. if you've never tried it, you should order a green river float. green river is an old school flavor/brand of soda that i can't believe is still around. it's like an intensely sweet cross between 7-up and mountain dew.

if you're wondering about the name, xxx ("triple x") is the (again, old-school) root beer they serve here. delicious - so much better than a&w.

this place has so much character (read: kitsch), it would be a shame to see it go under because the food has slipped. then again, maybe i just grew up. although i still love the 70's stand-alone fireplace and jukebox.

the root beer is amazing. the burger and fries are okay, but not as good as the root beer. my kids loved their corn dogs.

mixed bag. we have heard good things about this drive in, it is an amazing visual experience. the milk shakes and root beer were amazing, then the train ran off the track. we ordered four different meals. three arrived, after a while we had to ask about another meal for our forth. the last meal arrived as the rest of us were finishing. of the four meals, the chicken strips were overcooked. the other three meals were good, but we would probably not order them again. i probably would not come back. measured against my gold standard, boomers in bellingham, xxx fails the test.

the best!. if you're looking for a quality, messy yet delicious burger than you have to go here! the service is awesome and the 50's nostalgia is one of a kind. the only challenge is that they only take cash, but at least there's an atm inside. root beer is to die for!

one of a kind. trip-x is an american classic. it looks like a movie set from happy days. burgers are very good (not great), but the atmosphere and family-owned attentiveness bring it home. a few warnings though: first, they have weekly car rallys, so if you arrive during one of these and werent expecting (or want to see) 300 classic chevys, hot rods, etc, then parking and service will be non-existent. also, they dont take plastic. cash only. still worth the visit.
