stale pastries. will not ever buy from you guys again and not recommend this place. pastries tasted stale and definitely not home made. my fillings are much better. i usually bake but decided to buy, mistake. $8 spent was not worth the value. the young girl waiting on me was acted like she was put out by my asking her about the different pastries. this was my first time buying your stuff. never again!

-----17 may, 2015-----

stale. bought two strawberry/cheese danishes, two plain donuts, 3 raspberry turnovers and 1 bismarck. none of them tasted fresh. i bake quite a bit but felt lazy and saw the bakery and thought why not. well will not recommend nor buy your pastries again. paid over $* and will eat them with a cup of hot tea. the young girl waiting on was less than enthusiastic to say the least, wasn't very helpful.

i have been patronizing woodlea bakery (belair rd) for 20+
years.  they are my go-to bakery for
special occasion cakes because i know that the cake will be delicious, the icing buttery
(not fake and not all sugar) and it will be gorgeously decorated.  take a look at my most recent order.  i selected a cake from their sample book that
was very, very similar to the theme that i was using for a baby shower.  i took a “copy” of the plate to them and
asked that they incorporate any of the design from the plate into my cake.  they did better, they created the exact design!
the photo only includes the napkins, but this cake is exactly like the copy of the plate that i provided.  thanks woodlea!

for your business to charge $0.50 for under $5 purchases you're ripping customers off have you ever gone to the grocery store and just need a gallon of milk and been charged an extra $0.50 to use your debit card
if you can't afford the surcharge for somebody using their debit card maybe you should close up

i am very disappointed with the cake that i ordered for my son's confirmation.  i spend weeks researching online for the perfect cake.  i printed out a picture of the cake i would like mine modeled after and it was attached to the order to give to the decorator.  i placed my order well in advance and was assured that my cake would look similar only with regular icing instead of fondant and without the fondant bow.  the cake that i picked up on confirmation day was a beautiful cake and tasted fine but i spent extra money to order from woodlea to have a cake made from my picture.   i feel like i could have just picked up a cake anywhere and gotten the same results.  the picture below is the cake that i received from woodlea on the left, a picture of the cake i wanted to the right.  i also asked for a cross on top of the cake to match the cross on the cake plates which to me the cross on my cake is way too big and bold.  unfortunately, this will be the last cake that i order from woodlea.  i have also found that on the few occasions when pricing or ordering cakes from the bel air location that the staff at night is not as helpful as the morning staff.  it seems like they would like to wave you off if you have a special request in order to save time and trouble.  i also feel like the bel air store is an outpost.  from what i have been told cakes are not made at this location so they don't even have an onsite decorator to talk to.  i have not called the store yet because they are not open on mondays but i wanted to send this review out to in case a bride was trying to make a decision that your cake may not look like you had planned.

owner charles. i have been a customer of yours for over 20 years, i have purchased for curley high ind and church of the annunciation. i wanted to place large order and was told to call and talk to charles. i did this i was told he was in and asked who is calling. they came back to the phone and said he will not come o the phone but leave a number and he will call you back. this never happened and as a result i went to herman's in dundalk, they took time to talk to me and we placed the order with them, it was over $300.00. it is a shame you are to busy to work with your long time customers but i guess you are just making to much money and don't want to be bothered. don't worry we will not bother you again.

belair location ugly cake poor customer service. i ordered a birthday cake over the phone at the bel air store, requesting fall colors. the attendant asked me if i meant oranges and yellows and i said yes. a co-worker picked up the cake for me this morning. the cake was decorated with brown and tan roses with forest green leaves. the ugliest, depressing colors imaginable. i called the bakery and asked to speak to the manager, i was told the manger would call me back. i received a call from conchetta, you told me the bakery had a color disclaimer and were not responsible, i should have brought in color swatches! they have a color palette they work with and the browns were the fall color palette. even when i told her colors were discussed, she said evidently the girl did not write down yellows and oranges, only "fall colors". when i said that was not my fault, she again repeated that have a color disclaimed. i work in events for a college and i can only say that this bakery needs a class in customer service 101. i told her that everyone in my dept. were very dissatisfied with the cake decorations and we would not be using woodlea bakery again. she said "i'm sorry." rule # 1 in customer service is to apologize and then make it up to your customer, so they will return. as it stands, woodlea bakery has just lost approximately 20 customers.

wedding cake. we purchased our wedding cake from the original location in hamilton. my husband grew up in the area and him and his family have been going there for years. i knew the bakery had a good reputation, but was a bit skeptical of their wedding cakes, as the ones they showcased in their portfolio were a bit dated. after meeting with one of the employees and telling her exactly what i had envisioned for our wedding cake she seemed confident they could replicate what i had envisioned...and she was right. my wedding cake was five tiers, all white, frosting smooth made to look like fondant (we hate fondant) with tiny white sugar flowers placed all over and a subtle shimmer. they did three different flavors of cake, each with a different filling. not only was the cake beautiful and reasonably priced, it was delicious! it was not at all dated, it was simple and elegant, but grand enough to be a wedding cake. i still get compliments on it to this day and we were married in 2011. perfect.

disappointed. an elder introduced me to woodlea bakery's rye bread back in the late 70s and i have been a customer ever since. however, in the past couple of years the rye bread just hasn't been what it used to be, in fact now it doesn't even taste like rye. it is like a cross between a vienna and something else. it falls apart plain or toasted. it is not good! very disappointed - sad to say i will have to find another bakery.
