everything that happens is happening at wild wolf brewing company. every year for the past 5 years there is a group of us that stays at one of the cabins at montebello. we visited wild wolf for the first time last year and found it very enjoyable. they have an inclosed outside decking area that is very warm, and you can bring your dog, which is great for us. our server was wonderful, even brought out dog a bowl of water. we tasted all the beers in the sampling shots, and after that many, who could tell, they were all good. we will be going again this weekend. food is wonderful.

landslide. a group of us come every year to montebello the columbus day weekend. we always come to wild wolf brewing company, and we are allowed to bring our dog, that is a great addition. we all sit out on the inclosed area, and may i say, that we order several of the sampler beers. the food is excellent. i think between the 8 of us we have had just about everything on the menu, and the specials. never had anything that was not excellent. theserviceis wonderful. and they even bring me a bowl of water of our weimer! now when you take care of me and my dog you are a winner. see you in october.

absolute love. my best friend took me here back in july for my birthday. we ordered a flight and some amazing pretzel bites (that i still haven't stopped talking about). both were enough to bring me back last weekend on september 14th. we had an awesome server, melody. sometimes at restaurants, i'm hesitant to sit outside because i hadservicethat wasn't the best. however, melody was on her game, and show us a great time. my group ordered 4 flights, 2 pretzel bites (so amazing), fried pickles, and both fry choices. as you can guess, our table was full, but melody was right there taking anything we asked her to, and made sure none of us had empty glasses. i have recommended to anyone who will listen.
i recently moved from the charlottesville area to harpers ferry. i plan on stopping by wild wolf every trip home.

wild wolf review. i have eaten here many times both singly and in large groups. the atmosphere is very pleasant compared to the other two brew pubs on 151. the food has ranged from fabulous to average. i've never had a bad meal here. currently the menu is a bit sparse compared to earlier. i really miss the calamari and the original jambalaya (which wasn't actually jambalaya but rather a wonderful shrimp, chicken and sausage creation in a rose cream sauce over penne; absolutely delicious). i have taken the beer flight tour down 151 with others several times and the unanimous opinion was that wild wolf was the best of the three. the wee heavy is my favorite. i have found theserviceto be fine in general and the staff very friendly. i always specify jillian because i think she is terrific.

nice view....but it stops there. bottom line up front: all in all the food was at best well below average and theservicewas hands down the worst i have ever seen. wild wolf is not worth the drive out from town or off the hill at wintergreen.

we had heard good things about wild wolf and was hoping, like the other breweries on 151, that it lived up to its reputation. maybe i had allusions of grandeur or just failed to be thorough on my homework, but wild wolf did not live up. starting off, theservicewas horrendous. the restaurant was very empty when we visited for lunch (11:30) which did nothing to explain the inattentive service. the waitress was nice enough, albeit an overly awkward conversationalist, but to each her own. her personality did make us feel welcomed, however, the waitstaffs'serviceleft the polar opposite impression. the beer was not bad, the seasonal "wolfenstein" had a few too many flavors going on at the same time, but the experience wasn't horrible. the food on the other hand left a great deal to be desired. as a native virginian with a stint living in the carolina low country, i was excited to see shrimp and grits on the menu. the excitement ended when it showed up comprised of a small serving of grits (overly-mushy and instant-like) covered in spinach leaves (a very nice nontraditional touch) with a wooden skewer of shrimp topping it off. the flavor was bland and very disappointing unfortunately. i really could have used some hot sauce to make up for the blandness, that is if the waitress ever came back to ask how every thing was, which she didn't until it was time to ask if we'd like desert. i can't speak on behalf of my friend's meal, fish tacos, but i can attest that the impression was the same as mine and not at all impressive. after the entrees, we seriously considered heading down the road to another establishment for desert to salvage the meal, but opted to try wild wolf's deep fried oreos (we all must appease the inner glutton every now and then). they were not horrible, but nothing i'd crave. then again what do you expect when you order deep-fried cookies, but you have to try everything once. to top it all off, i had to make two trips to the bar to have the bartender refill my empty water glass. maybe if you're drinking beer, theserviceis more attentive because there is more revenue to be gained. i won't be back to find out.
