i had visited benares, with my friends, over a long weekend on the occasion of mahashivratri. it was our second day in benares and we had just made our way back from sarnath after enduring a long stretch of traffic jam across the city. it was already 4 pm in the evening and we were looking for a place to have lunch. we entered into western street cafe located on the side of main road.
the place had a very comforting ambience and the staff was really vigilant and well mannered. the menu had variety of options available in north indian, chinese as well as a few options in continental. we ordered one paneer butter masala with breads, one red sauce pasta and 4 shakes. the paneer butter masala had an amazing gravy and tasted brilliant. it had some really great flavors and a perfect balance of tanginess and spiciness. the red sauce pasta was decent in taste. the taste was a bit indianized and lacked authenticity. the sauce tasted more like an indian curry. the shakes were good and accompanied the meal well.
overall it was a delightful experience with good food, amazing service and a congenial ambience.
