great new place!. took an out of town visitor out this morning for breakfast who wanted "something i can only get in atlanta" and hit a home run with west egg. been a while since i'd been here... in that time they've moved and, appears to me, to have added stuff to the menu.

i had the peachtree plate (2 eggs, brown sugar bacon, pimento cheese grits, fried green tomatoes, and a biscuit). everything was very tasty with the grits and the bacon both being out of this world full of flavor. my guest had one of the egg dishes with the garlic grits that he said were great. all in all, with the big bright new space (that still seems a little cozy and industrial) and the nice folks, i think the move has worked out very well. will have to go back some evening because it appears they're now serving dinner.

update 03/2011: still really like the food here, but mornings like today with just amazingly bad service make this place a little hit or miss lately. like i said, good food, but when you have to almost beg for coffee refills, get up to get silverware yourself, and generally have to work for everything it's difficult to have a nice relaxing breakfast reading the newspaper. when you have a good server, this place is great, when you don't... not so much.

great hip indy breakfast/brunch !. they now have parking in back! that makes this place a lot easier during the weekend rush.

did the black bean cakes & eggs this morning (two eggs, chipotle salsa, sour cream on spicy bean cakes with roasted garlic grits). eggs over medium and done perfectly, nice spice level to the bean cakes, big garlic flavor for the creamy (but not too creamy) grits. if i had to find something that i'd do different with this dish, it'd be to ask for extra salsa. unfortunately, it was so overpowered by the other flavors (and i'm not saying that in a bad way... this is a dish with big flavors) that i couldn't really find any chipotle taste...

the space is fun and full of west-downtown loft dwellers and entrepreneurs, and the service is friendly and unrushed. simply a fun spot for agreatbreakfast from a local business.

a good friend of atlanta had his business right next-door to this place and is eating in this place literally and i mean seriously probably 600 times. he would be here every day and it's very good and i know why likes to go back.…

the food is always outstanding and the atmosphere is amazing. there is always a wait but it's worth it and the staff here is amazing.

the restaurant is owned by two former law yours i saw the light decided to get into another business and i think they own and restaurants.

lived in atlanta for 15 years and one of thegreatthings i miss about it is all the good food and this place is one of the best places here so if you're in town and you like breakfast i highly recommend it.

one of my favorite places to eat breakfast in atlanta. this is not your typical place to eat. the environment isgreatbut the food is just fabulous. their cafe late is wonderful and perfectly frothed. their ga eggs benedict is wonderful as is their fried green tomato wrap. everything on the menu is good!!!! but please don't forget to order a side of grits. i am from the south and i can say they have the best grits anyone has ever cooked, and their bacon!! ohh boy so crisp , apple smoked wood with a slight caramelized top. perfection at its best !! all foodies must go!

on weekend brunch be prepared to wait in a long long line. we usually go on the weekends but for brinner as the brunch menu is available all day and there is usually no wait in the evenings. so many gems on this menu, the westside pile up, fried egg sandwich, black bean cakes&eggs, ga benedict, banana bread french toast, and pulled pork benedict are some of my faves. the banana pudding is on point and the grits may be my favorite in atlanta. on the weekends you can add pimento cheese to your grits, this is a must do. once in a while there is a special called green eggs and ham which is wonderful, eggs with pesto and ham. it used to be on the original menu years ago.greatcocktails and coffee selection. can't recommend it enough.

mediocore. we arrived and waited for quite some time on a friday morning.greatlocation and very nice atmosphere. we had a coffee while we waited and they were good but overly sweet. we had a table outside and the chairs were very uncomfortable. our server was efficient but not friendly. we had the waffle with spiced butter, biscuits and gravy and the bean cakes. there was nothing bad about the dishes but nothing amazing either. it all lacked flavor. overall just not sure how this places is so highly rated???

this is my second time at west egg cafe and i am never disappointed. parking on the street is very limited, but there is a parking garage located on the back side of the cafe. come prepared there will be a 15 - 20 minute wait before you are seated. that just tells you howgreatthis spot is. the cafe is very laid back and has a friendly vibe. your food is served relatively fast after you order. i had the pimento grits, scrabbled eggs, turkey sausage on an open faced biscuit with gravy on top. if your like me, i can eat breakfast anytime of the day that is why west egg cafe is so great, breakfast is served all day!! .ig-b- { display: inline-block; } .ig-b- img { visibility: hidden; } .ig-b-:hover { background-position: 0 -60px; } .ig-b-:active { background-position: 0 -120px; } .ig-b-16 { width: 16px; height: 16px; background: url(//badges.instagram.com/static/images/ig-badge-sprite-16.png) no-repeat 0 0; } @media only screen and (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio: 2), only s

good lunch spot. had lunch here yesterday, had to wait 10 minutes as they were slammed. service wasgreatgiven how busy they were. i had a cuban sandwich and a cup of their daily soup which was a spicy tomato and leek. the sandwich was ok at best, the pork part was really good. the bread was not in the same league with the better cubans available in atlanta. i will likely return to try their breakfast items as they were pretty popular judging from others plates.

the restaurant overall was one that i think i would return to if i lived in the area. the service was a bit aloof, moving quickly and staying away for awhile, but considerate and nice. the food took awhile to get to us, but good food often does, and our server was quick to return with anything else we needed. also, while the food was thoughtful and delicious, it wasn't exceptionally expensive. all this food was only $26.50 after tax. totally agreatdeal.

one of my favorite breakfast stops!. although my review of wec may be a little biased considering i'm agreatgatsby fanatic and love any sort of reference to the novel, they sure do make one mean breakfast joint! i've yet to have their lunch/dinner, but i'm a huge fan of their breakfast. whether it's the blue plate special, ga benedict or salmon cakes benedict, everything here is delicious, made fresh to order and very affordable considering the neighborhood they're located in. and while you're here, don't overlook the beautiful pastry counter, yummy banana pudding in mason jars or their coffee selection (love their milky way lattes!). head over to their facebook page too-they update specials often!! :)

...i've had my eye out on this popular atlanta establishment, west egg cafe, for quite some time now. with all the rave reviews i've read and heard through word-of-mouth, i figured it was finally my turn to give it a test run. before i get started, i should mention that the name of this place originated from one of my all-time favorite books, thegreatgatsby by f. scott

long waits for a reason. this place is wonderful.greatbeverages, excellent breakfast/brunch, easy parking (hey, it's a big bonus in midtown). i have only eaten brunch here, but i like that they offer some unique menu items and make a very yummy salmon cakes benedict for a person who doesn't even particularly love salmon. their breakfast menu could probably be bigger, but if going for brunch, you get both menus, which definitely helps give you plenty to choose from.

great relaxing dinner. we had a scout mob deal so we got appetizer, wine, entree, boozy milkshake, cookies plus cupcakes to go. whew! hubs got short ribs which were very tasty & i had pig 'n grits.greattaste, but a little heavy on the braising liquid & short on meat. picnic plate appetizer was good with an excellent devilled egg and bacon jam, plus okra pickles. boozy milkshakes and ginger cookies were a treat. our service was great. we'll be back!
