not the bestplacein town. was there on may 23, 2011 for supper...

sushi: fresh fish, but poorly rapped. ingredients not so creative and not the best combinations...

food: avoid kitchen stuff!!! miso soup salty as hell. took the seafood bento (3/4 batter, 1/4 fish). oil that they deep fry isn't clean. salmon terriyaki looks like the same style and taste you get at a fast food. sushi in bento box not freshed (looks like they made it in the afternoon, or perhaps let overs from lunch time). this is not authentic japanese cuisine.

service: slow when you need something, fast to pick up the bill. not very knowledgeable on their own menu.

price: pricey...the dished they serve can be obtained in sushi buffet...probably you'll get better food at a sushi all you can eat for half the price.

ambiance: nice chic setting...but serving plates is a deception and does not match with the restaurant and the trendiness of the district.

overall: let's just say i'll never go back and will advice everyone i know to not go there...there are many other places on the same street to try out.

sushi rice packed too firmly. fish was fresh though. spicy tuna a little salty as well.

as a sushiplacei'd rate below average.

had to reduce rating, getting the bill in thisplaceis like pulling teeth with tweezers. near impossible. sigh

the food is good, however you don't get a lot for the price you pay. i went as a group of 4 people. we shared a sushi boat and each ordered one main dish of sushi. between the 4 of is ae were still hungry but the bill was high enough so we bailed out. not a goodplacefor all you can eat but great for just a casual dinner.

worst sushi in the city /country period. anyone who likes thisplacedoesn't know sushi. we spent $150 for poorly presented, sub par sushi, and terrible service. waitress brought wrong order twice , forgot drinks, and our orders were missing pieces.
the sushi at an ayce is by far better and ive been to almost everyplacein the city.

we love thisplacefor lunch especially. the price works out the same as if we were to go to all you can eat, but the quality is waaaaaaay better. the tuna/salmon tartare with chili is delish, my favorite dish there, as of yet. the sashimi is super, fantastic and they have a great variety.

you have to try their teriyaki. the sushi and sashimi are fresh but most sushi fanatics will skip over teriyaki at places like these and you'd be missing out. unlike other teriyaki sauces i've had, this one is rich, sweet and flavourful. there are a lot of options here for both sushi and non-sushi lovers, which makes this restaurant popular for groups and usually busy (i recommend you make a reservation). the bento boxes are always a fav for me since you get a bit of everything. also, i really like the ambiance, they often have jazz playing and dim lighting. i do find it somewhat pricey....then again, most sushi places aren't cheap. overall, i like thisplaceand i go here when i'm in the mood for good japanese food. the service however, is hit or miss.

this is the bestplaceto have sushi in downtown ottawa. the sushi and sashimi was delightfully fresh. topped with osaka wine in such a calming ambience, it's truly a greatplaceto wind down at any point in the day.

vacationing in ottawa for 4 days we came upon thisplacein by ward market area. tuna foie gras was interesting and tasty, the neptune roll flavorful, the hamachi and shrimp gyoza delicious, hamachi 3-ways a fantastic combination of deep fried chin of tuna, fish tacos and marinated pieces of raw tuna. the 5 of us were in japanese fusion heaven until the last dish, steak lunch set, arrived. a fly was found smothered under the pile of crunchy salad, my grandson spotted it (it was at his eye level) and my husband dugged it out. we were able to attract the waitress's attention before it revived itself and started to stumble across the plate. we declined a new order as appetite was somewhat curtailed. got some apologies from the waitress and apologetic look from manager.
wonderful food, too bad about the fly.

best sushi in ottawa. westside roll. spezza roll. both are gems.

i saw quite a few negative reviews recently for wasabi and had to revisit to confirm or quash them. i can confidently say they were quashed.

service was extremely attentive and we were on the patio on a busy day. great scenary, the best sushi in the heart of the market. you get what you pay for - thisplacefits the bill
