not the best place in town. was there on may 23, 2011 for supper...

sushi:freshfish, but poorly rapped. ingredients not so creative and not the best combinations...

food: avoid kitchen stuff!!! miso soup salty as hell. took the seafood bento (3/4 batter, 1/4 fish). oil that they deep fry isn't clean. salmon terriyaki looks like the same style and taste you get at a fast food. sushi in bento box not freshed (looks like they made it in the afternoon, or perhaps let overs from lunch time). this is not authentic japanese cuisine.

service: slow when you need something, fast to pick up the bill. not very knowledgeable on their own menu.

price: pricey...the dished they serve can be obtained in sushi buffet...probably you'll get better food at a sushi all you can eat for half the price.

ambiance: nice chic setting...but serving plates is a deception and does not match with the restaurant and the trendiness of the district.

overall: let's just say i'll never go back and will advice everyone i know to not go there...there are many other places on the same street to try out.

sushi rice packed too firmly. fish wasfreshthough. spicy tuna a little salty as well.

as a sushi place i'd rate below average.

had to reduce rating, getting the bill in this place is like pulling teeth with tweezers. near impossible. sigh

you have to try their teriyaki. the sushi and sashimi arefreshbut most sushi fanatics will skip over teriyaki at places like these and you'd be missing out. unlike other teriyaki sauces i've had, this one is rich, sweet and flavourful. there are a lot of options here for both sushi and non-sushi lovers, which makes this restaurant popular for groups and usually busy (i recommend you make a reservation). the bento boxes are always a fav for me since you get a bit of everything. also, i really like the ambiance, they often have jazz playing and dim lighting. i do find it somewhat pricey....then again, most sushi places aren't cheap. overall, i like this place and i go here when i'm in the mood for good japanese food. the service however, is hit or miss.

over priced. when i first moved to ottawa i was experiencing a sushi craving and being new to the city and used google to find a good sushi joint, wasabi is what came up. so i placed my order and went to pick it up (came out to $32) and the rolls were tiny! and had hardly and sushi on them. also the sashimi was super thin almost like paper. i find sushifreshis much better and has a higher quality of fish.

a lot of new sushi restaurants have surfaced in the last year but i stay true to wasabi. i had temporarily given up on some other spots but had a hankering for some good sushi one afternoon. so a friend of mine met me in the market and we decided on trying wasabi. we both had distinct cravings; she for somefreshsashimi and i for some fancy rolls. we were actually so hungry that it seemed impossible to decided what to eat but finally she decided on the sashimi bento box and i on tri-maki. goodness, they all tasted so fresh. unlike the slow service at kinki, our server was on the ball and delivered the food to us readily. we did start with some miso soup just in case, and while i didnt regret it, the food was quick. my friend loved the bento box, though slightly small in servings. nonetheless, wasabi is a night quaint spot in the heart of the market and provides a tasty selection of sushi (not all you can eat). it is comparable in price to kinki so you do end up paying a little bit mor
