this food cart started as a nameless truck trailer serving really inexpensiveburgersin the downtown area. for the first half-year or so, it was only known as 2.85 burger, because that was basically their menu. since then, the trailer has earned some graphics and a name. now known as wakwak burger, their prices have increased a little, and the menu has expanded.

great place for quick eats in downtown. usually grab this for lunch since it's super fast and decently cheap. i love theirburgers- great ratio of meat, to bun, to veggies. funky truck and super nice service - always recommend this place.

i stumbled across this food truck while shopping downtown. by the looks of people eating theburgersi just had to have one. there was alot of hype.
i'm so glad i did.

the bun is very light, the burger is juicy and savoury. best of all, the service is top notch. they keep informing me how long my burger will be and if i want to get a beverage while waiting. they even joked with me. really good service. i'm definitely recommending this food truck to anyone. prices are reasonable too!

it’s a genius life lesson in marketing: keep things simple. although their name is officially wakwak, vancouverites know them as only, “$2.85 burger” – which is the price of their basic hamburger. this iconic japanese food truck is wallpapered with simple posters of menu items and price.at west hastings and granville st, you can’t miss the large crowd around this cart. the typical clientele of wakwak are young men. it’s obvious they like the short menu that gets straight to the point: meat-centeredburgersthat put fast food joints to shame.this clever asian food cart is reminiscent of the runaway success of japadog, which opened in 2005 but exploded with popularity during vancouver’s 2010 olympics. subsequently, japadog expanded to a restaurant on robson st (near granville) and locations in l.a. and santa monica. wak wak’s cart is also run by japanese youth .

i stopped by this food cart earlier in the week eager to try these cheapburgersthat everyone has been raving about. unfortunately when i was in line i noticed a sign saying they only take cash, something i rarely carry these days with the convenience of credit cards along with their rewards programs. this time however i came prepared, having brought about $10 worth of toonies (why isn’t it spelled twonies?) from my change jar from home. they’re located very close to my office just along granville between dunsmuir and pender, so it was a quick option after my daily gym session.there was a decent crowd with about 5 people waiting in line and another few waiting for their food.

amazing, amazing, amazing. for those that have been to japan and have experienced the wonderful, small, back alley type of cuisine - you'll be able to appreciate what the japanese owners have brought to vancouver. theburgersare simple, flavourful, fresh and delicious. don't miss out on their fries - the best fries i've ever had. five stars!

hamburger $2.85 is this simple food truck in downtown on the corner of granville and pender. it only serves two things… hamburger with cheese and a hamburger without cheese (well.. unless you count the pop they have for $1.75?). though it is a simple truck, the food they serve is amazingly fresh and tasty! it is also run by japanese people… so did this mean that there would be a japanese twist to these burgers? since sleepy was done his interview at the aquarium and was craving burgers, i decided that we should try this and find out! apparently there is usually a huge line up at this truck during peak lunch and dinner hours. when we came, there was no line up at all. theburgerstook about 3-4 mins to come out. sleepy and i decided that we should get the  hamburger with cheese ($3.50) . the first thing i noticed was the thickly cut tomato and the huge mound of lettuce they put on the burger.

so cheap and so good. theburgershere are as cheap as they come and taste amazing for its price. my friend kind of pressured me into buying one and i reluctantly had a bite and i was not disappointed! finished it before i even got onto the skytrain (which is about a 2 minute walk).

also, go cheese or go home. just a few cents more but adds that extra kick!

oh but, make sure to get a lot of napkins 'cause eating this baby can get a little messy - it's a big bite!

so i’ve been a fan of in n outburgerssince the first time i visited san fran last year and clearly nothing has been able to satisfy my taste buds ever since….until now.. maybe. but good news vancouver, there’s a pretty decent substitute for burger lovers if you haven’t already known – hamburger $2.85! and just as the name says, the burger is just $2.85 ($3 after tax) with the cheeseburger only being $3.50. you’d think that for ~$2.85, you woudn’t get much but think again, cause this is no bite sized burger. for a loonie and a toonie, you get two nicely grilled buns, literally half a head of fresh crispy lettuce, a thick slice of tomato and a juicy beef patty all glazed with a distinct japanese sauce (am i the only one who tastes wasabi in it?). never mind the mushroom melts from triple os or prime chophouse burger from red robins, hamburger $2.85 is the one. sure it’s not elaborately packed with bacon, mushrooms or lobster but it really gives new life to the simple and classic burger

the mysterious $2.85 hamburger cart has been making news in vancouver. this is probably the best deal out of any food cart out there. it’s even cheaper than mcdonalds. if you’re looking for a cheap, delicious and quick lunch, this place is for you. my coworkers and i came here at 11:45am and there was already a line forming with about 18 orders already. the wait isn’t too long, so make sure you come early to beat the rush. by noon, larger lines started forming and waits got longer. you have only 2 options ofburgersto order – hamburger for $2.85 or a cheeseburger for $3.50. you order at the side of the cart and put in your order. do note that it is cash only. they give you a number and you begin your wait for your meal. cheeseburger ($3.50) has a lot of lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, teriyaki sauce, cheese, and beef patty on the toasted white bun. the patty was flavourful. it’s a really good burger at a really good price. definitely check it out if you’re in the area. we rate $2.85 hamburge

good quality of beef steak. cheeseburger $3.7 5/5 - this would be 4/5 if it were without the brown sauce. there were 3 people ahead of me when i got there off work. they had a pretty steady wave of lineup. i felt bad because they gave me a burger without the cheese. they decided to give me another one instead of adding the cheese on the burger. (i felt bad for wasting a burger=p) i really like how they grilled the bun too. the burger was not oily at all. better quality than theburgersthat i bought from costco. it came with a few pieces of lettuce and a slice of tomato. it would be 4/5 if it were more expensive or without the brown sauce. that's why there were no one in the subway on the same block. i read some reviews that they are not opened on sat. i hope that's not true coz i'm planning to go back next week.

there has been some buzz amongst foodies for the last 2 weeks about a new food cart that unceremoniously appeared across from sfu’s downtown campus at granville and pender. with no apparent real name, $2.85 hamburger cart (or as i like to call it, hamburger 285) is serving up simple hamburgers and cheeseburgers at a refreshingly low price – $2.85 or $3.50 to make it cheesy! what i ate hamburger ($2.85) a grilled burger patty, served on a toasted bun, with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise and teriyaki sauce it won’t change how you define a burger but that doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with it. the patty has a nice char and isn’t dry, the bun is nicely toasted, and there teriyaki sauce on it! final thoughts this new food cart is pumping out $3burgersand at the price there is nothing anyone can complain about. it’s a good burger and stands out amongst all the other food trucks and carts in vancouver!
