this food cart started as a nameless truck trailer serving really inexpensive burgers in the downtown area. for the first half-year or so, it was only known as 2.85 burger, because that was basically their menu. since then, the trailer has earned some graphics and a name. now known as wakwak burger, their prices have increased a little, and the menu has expanded.

simple, elegant and delicious. the lack of add-ons such as pickles make one enjoy the simple burger even more! 10/10

you get what you pay for? i ordered a cheese+beef burger with the price less than $5. the burger is relatively small than other places, however, the price is reasonable, in terms of the location. their open hour is till 7 or 8, good for a quick bite.

great place for quick eats in downtown. usually grab this for lunch since it's super fast and decently cheap. i love their burgers - great ratio of meat, to bun, to veggies. funky truck and super nice service - always recommend this place.

i stumbled across this food truck while shopping downtown. by the looks of people eating the burgers i just had to have one. there was alot of hype.
i'm so glad i did.

the bun is very light, the burger is juicy and savoury. best of all, the service is top notch. they keep informing me how long my burger will be and if i want to get a beverage while waiting. they even joked with me. really good service. i'm definitely recommending this food truck to anyone. prices are reasonable too!

formerly the $2.85 burger, wakwak is a juicy and simple burger. the meat stands on it's own but adding cheese just makes it 10 times better. the burger prices have gone up, which i guess is a good thing since it would be ridiculous not to get them every day at that low price!

it’s a genius life lesson in marketing: keep things simple. although their name is officially wakwak, vancouverites know them as only, “$2.85 burger” – which is the price of their basic hamburger. this iconic japanese food truck is wallpapered with simple posters of menu items and price.at west hastings and granville st, you can’t miss the large crowd around this cart. the typical clientele of wakwak are young men. it’s obvious they like the short menu that gets straight to the point: meat-centered burgers that put fast food joints to shame.this clever asian food cart is reminiscent of the runaway success of japadog, which opened in 2005 but exploded with popularity during vancouver’s 2010 olympics. subsequently, japadog expanded to a restaurant on robson st (near granville) and locations in l.a. and santa monica. wak wak’s cart is also run by japanese youth .

so a burger truck a japanese version of it, i'm hoping it'll be good, and at the same time for 2.85 dollars i'm not expecting much. so ordered the cheese burger which cost a slight more than the regular 2.85 burgers. they used some sort of teriyaki sauce that's slightly sweeter. which is good, the patty is also good, nothing to complain at 3 dollar ish, and overall i would say it went above my expecation. so it's all good.

will definitely recommend the place and the burgers. and will definitely come back for quick bites :)

now $3.42 + tax but still a kick-ass burger with a zesty teriyaki sauce, crispy lettuce, and soft buns! however disappointing it was to find $2.85 burger gone, it is still quite relieving to know that they haven't lost their greatness!

the plain hamburger 2.85 truck is now redecorated and has a real name! it’s called wakwak burger. it’s still in the same spot on granville and pender. in addition to the new name, they also offer a new burger, the menchi katsu burger. it looked a lot more exciting than a regular hamburger!

so juicy and tender! it doesn't look like anything special when you first see this good truck, i've probably walked pass this good truck a couple times not thinking twice.

but scrolling through near by, and saw a comment about a cheap ass burger i was so down!
getting there; prices have gone up. when we went there were three choices for burgers, original hamburger, cheese burger and a katsu burger. we both chose the cheese burger. $4.39+tax.
it was bomb. the bread was toasted. she just reheated it on the grill with the cheese so it was the perfect temperature, looking at the pictures the burger looks tiny. but it's so filling. really good value!

yum ! i've been wanting to try the infamous $2.85 burger for a while now, and have finally made it there ! the burger itself bursts in freshness with a chunk of crunchy lettuce, a thickly sliced ring of tomato, and the juiciest teriyaki sauce tasting half inch patty ! for $2.85 +tax, this is such a fulfilling and yummy burger ! i would even prefer this food truck burger over a fast food or even a restaurant burger !

i stopped by this food cart earlier in the week eager to try these cheap burgers that everyone has been raving about. unfortunately when i was in line i noticed a sign saying they only take cash, something i rarely carry these days with the convenience of credit cards along with their rewards programs. this time however i came prepared, having brought about $10 worth of toonies (why isn’t it spelled twonies?) from my change jar from home. they’re located very close to my office just along granville between dunsmuir and pender, so it was a quick option after my daily gym session.there was a decent crowd with about 5 people waiting in line and another few waiting for their food.
