wakatipu grill - hilton queenstown resort & spa

stayed in hilton hotel for 2 night may21-23 ,and went for birthday dinner in there amazing wakatipu grill on may 22. didnt make any bookings just walkin guest but they were happy to accommodate me and my partner , aaron one of the staff is very lovely the level of service is amazing . his so warmed to us, i can see that he loves his job so much , me and my partner work both in hospitality industry and i can tell that aaron was in the job that he wanted , thefoodwas absolutely stunning. we order two entree which is the scallops and the duck both taste amazing and for the main we just shared the salmon , which cooked perfectly the whole team in kitchen is amazing its worth to dine in here sending loves from auckland ur places is a gem

we went for our anniversary dinner there and oh boy the view of the lake, the ambiance and thefoodeverything was on point! we had a lamb rump with truffle oil fries and a couple of pizzas. everything was utterly delicious. big shout out to the staff as well for making everything better for us. can’t wait to go back again. cheers!

the grill is in the hilton complex on frankton arm a distance from the town itself, at the very start of the road down the peninsula, and on the lakeside ground floor with a view across the end of the lake. it is also accessible by water taxi. it sets its aim high for both menu standard, innovative dishes, and service. by local standards its prices are good for what is delivered. overall it rates "trying hard" rather than outstanding on thefoodside; we found service (january 2018) a little muddled.

absolutely fabulous!!
we dined here last night and thoroughly enjoyed not only our meals but the surroundings, views and wines aswell. thefoodwas superb, you couldn’t fault it if you tried! our waiter was very friendly and knew what he was talking about. i’d give this 10 stars if i could!

i dont know what to say about this place other than it's great. we stayed at the hilton for a long weekend (that's another review of a different kind!) and decided to splash out on dinner for our last night. we booked ahead and asked for a table by the fire (one of) and got it.
the service was impecable and unfortunately we didnt get his name but he was fantastic.
i ordered the cheese soufle to start - it should have come with a "to share" warning - it was huge and it was devine.
i ordered the pork belly - wonderful as it was and committed the cardinal chef sin by asking for the crackling to be crackled a tad more - this was not a problem - i think i felt worse about it than the chef would have.
our wine was perfect - wild earth pinot, great temperature,foodwas great, service wonderful - overall experience - fantastic.
