vito provolone's

forget the chains. small friendly place with large flavorful portions. great soups, bread and pastas.
hard to imagine going back to the chain italian places again after eating here.

worth the time.... vito provolone's is a place i have driven past hundreds if not thousands of times. no more. i'm definitely going back, most likely sooner rather than later. whenever i go to a place for the first time, i stick to the basics. that means i chose vito's linguini alfredo. i was not disappointed, as the sauce was much closer to the cheesy end of the spectrum than the creamy end. my beloved chose the mastaccioli which had a terrific balance of tomato sauce and cheese. we followed it with a turtle cheesecake chaser, and left with happy bellies. a wonderful evening of italian food in relaxed surroundings, and best of all it's not chain food. we made use of a groupon which ran recently, so expect things to be busier than normal for the next couple of weeks but don't be afraid to make a reservation.

we liked everything about this restaurant other than the wait for a table, but the wait was worth it. we got lasagna and fettuccini alfredo. if you like beer try the nearly local beer from upland brewing co in bloomington

vito's serves the best alfredo sauce i've ever tasted. the atmosphere is great and the service is always fantastic. even their salads are good.

pasta was very uninspiring. would have been better off at olive garden.

the seafood fettuccine, explicitly defined itself on the menu as, "a bed of fettuccine with crab and shrimp covered with our rich alfredo sauce." when my pasta came out it had imitation crab... no real crab. that was a real let down for the price. vito provolone's has that indiana flavor: crockpot, casserole'y' type of feel to it. it's cool for old heads that dont know good food.

service is great! pata not so much. ordered ravioli, and ended up sending it back. a lady in the table next to us ordered seafood linguini, and sent it back too. out waitress was really nice and offered to bring another dish. ended up having pizza, which was fine. if i would wanted pizza, i would have gone to a pizzeria. i won't be coming back for pasta :(

great service, great food, great local italian joint. best clam chowder i've ever had.

absolutely divine food every time we go... and their homemade blue cheese dressing is the best i have ever tasted anywhere. ask for extra chunks from the bottom of the container of blue cheese!

a step up from the usual mom and pop italian-american fare. really cheesy alfredo and competent vodka sauce. nice take on comfort food, would definitely come back on the regular.

great food and service. --stopped by new year's eve and the owner and his daughter, lisa, were busily greeting guests, most of whom they knew by name or made a point to get to know. service has always been good. i do not do meat so was very pleased with the angel hair pasta and vodka sauce---hubby had alfredo, but with meatballs. i saw an amazing steak go by! this is a very nice neighborhood feel place---only comment for improvement would be to inspire the salad a bit---there was an ample amount and fresh--but not as with it as the rest the food. we plan to go back. actually, we had a coupon, but the service and food was so good on a special night, that we did not use it!

great service and food. filets are awesome as is stuffed orange roughy. my only complaint is their cream sauce based pasta dishes are too oily but they still taste good!

better service and food, than you find at augustinos!!! wonderful filets and stuffed fish!

i'll meet you anytime you want at our italian restaurant.... very nice italian restaurant, owned by a family, been here forever. hubby and i have been going for 16 years. good food, nice wait staff, very reasonable prices. they've got a decent house cabernet for a very good price.

went for the first time with family. the service was outstanding. we never had to ask for a refill of drinks or bread. the food had its ups and downs. the garlic bread is great. the orange roughy was a favorite at the table but the chicken pesto was very bland. we will make a return trip.

another excellent meal and great service!. family from out of town and some family getting ready to go back to school, thought we would celebrate by going here since we haven't had a bad meal here yet. some of the dishes that hadn't been ordered before were tried on this visit. the pizza (pic included) proved to be very good. crust was good tasting, crispy on the edges, chewy in the middle, and the toppings were good. i've had better local pizza, but would certainly order this pie again. the minestrone (pic included) didn't knock our socks off, but it was still good tasting none the less. the side of italian sausage (pic included) was decent tasting. would of preferred it served without being sauced but likely not order again on the side anyway. my order of vodka sauce pasta didn't disappoint and is still my absolute favorite here!

the service this visit continued to be excellent!

2nd visit as good as the 1st!. great italian! been here before due to armywife's previous recommend. the dinner salad and bread are not exciting, but the pasta is excellent! this is now becoming our favorite italian restaurant! we had the fettuccine alfredo and the chicken giovanni. excellent! took a lot of discipline not to order the vodka sauced pasta (darn good!), but wanted to try the other dishes. ;)

excellent italian food!. small area seating but excellent italian food! the vodka sauce is unique and spicy! i would recommend to others. thank you armywife for recommending!
