vincent a little cheap on true french cooking. we planned a large gathering at vincent's months in advance, for 16 people. the meal was average, and in one instance, below average: a lox appetizer arrived with the black part of the fish, disguised by a melted cheese. thechefis not only cutting corners, but serving less than standard fare. it used to be a better restaurant. we were rushed to finish a planned, expensive dinner. thechefforced his wait-staff to clear dishes before everyone was finished, and thechefhimself rushed us out before 9:30 pm, as if we were in a cheap diner ready to close at midnight.
