update: july 12, 2017: unpleasant visit. hate to say that the more i visit here, the less impressed i am. went with a group of four for dinner and while wait staff was on point, the food was mediocre at best. two in our group got the fried chicken and could not finish it. batter was dark and heavy and had the taste of state fair deep fried batter--sweet and greasy. the fish and chip fries tasted the same. i got the blackened fish tacos which were skimpy and hardy blackened. and, though it was close to 90 degrees outside with high humidity, it must have been 85+ degrees inside, flies and all. we were told they'd turn up the ac but they did not. this old building is just not able to keep up with the heat and too many doors stand open with people going in and out. i'll not hurry to return.
based on a saturday brunch with a friend, we found this place to be fun and unique. the food was good but prices did not seem to match portion size or quality. we had what they advertise as a 4-egg omelet, which came to the table flat and uninspired, and the typical size of a 2-egg omelet (4 cornish hen eggs perhaps?). coffee was nice and bold but expensive. on a cold morning, the enclosed outdoor section was warm(ish) and wait staff was friendly. i'd like to go back in warmer weather and try their $10-buck-tuesday specials and perhaps even walk the park across the street.
