great find--. we ate here late on saturday may 16th and ended up eating at the bar. everything we ate was amazing. most notable was the scallops dinner and the great beer selection. cannot wait to try it once the patio is open. (for now it is under a wedding-like tent.

unique & delicious. as a louisville native, i am always trying to find new places to dine at. i am a huge fan of a great breakfast place... always on the look! i have heard a lot of great things from friends about the village anchor so i took my mom and thought we would have a try. we were both in amazement when we first walked into the restaurant. there are paintings embedded into the ceiling, which was so unique! colbie calliat was playing as i entered into the restaurant- loved that! the red wallpaper and the cozy fireplace that held many small red candles created a comfortable yet intimate setting (makes me want to take my boyfriend here for date night). there is also outside dining available, but we chose to eat inside for brunch. okay, so now to the main reason i have decided to post a review, the food was outstanding! we both ordered the red velvet pancakes. oh my goodness... i don’t think words can describe exactly how wonderful these pancakes truly were. each bite was just as good as the first taste of that kahlua infused cream cheese. it was honestly a delightful experience. the service was great, the food was amazing, and the atmosphere is stunning. i highly recommend this restaurant to anyone coming to louisville or to someone who is out of town. just writing about these pancakes is making me crave it! the village anchor also serves lunch and dinner, and i know one of the two will be my next destination.

fab time at the village anchor. amazing food and service. the sweet potato fries with marshmallow creme, the pastrami sandwich, scallops, the fried chicken are all crazy good! but the desserts....pie pop, banana pudding and the best carrot cake i've ever had! this is a must! oh and the eastender drink with cucumber vodka is excellent.

i have been looking for a new fun spot to try out in louisville. i came across a semi-new restaurant and bar that is located in anchorage. the village anchor (restaurant) and the sea hag (bar) are a must try when in louisville. i have lived in louisville my whole life and have not come across such a unique atmosphere anywhere in kentucky. i first walked into the village anchor’s intimate entrance. i asked the host where the best spot was to have a few drinks to unwind from a long day, and she led me downstairs to the sea hag. i felt like i walked straight into an irish pub. the dark woodwork, classic light fixtures, and abundant collection of bourbon caught my eye instantly. i sat down and was greeted kindly by the bartender, levi. i absolutely loved chatting with this guy. he has the type of personality that attracts customer’s attention to make your experience memorable and makes you want to keep coming back. i ordered a bookers and coke for the person i was meeting and an east village manhattan, on the specialty drink menu, for myself. seriously, levi knows how to make a darn good drink and enlighten you with a bright conversation while waiting for your party to join you. the outside seating is lovely as well. i am excited to come back for a summer evening dinner on the patio. levi mentioned their margarita night on friday’s... i now know where i will be going this weekend! a round of applause goes to this marvel of a dining destination. four stars in my book!

a treat!! so european-like!. charming place! it reminds you of these nice european restaurants in a quaint place or in the suburb of paris. decor is delightful, service impeccable, food menu exciting! dinner was a delight. all orders were perfect to the palate. we stayed among other tables way past their open hours and the service was still very nice! you may eat indoor or indoor-outdoor in the middle of greenery and with great seating! wine is on the table should you choose to have it. wonderful experience. love the place!! voted best restaurant in louisville in 2012 by the courier journal.

the atmosphere is wonderful and the service was great. i was disappointed with my food. the cuban sandwich i ordered was dry and had no pickles. the fries were cold and soggy. i will try again but i hope the food next time is up to the reputation i’ve heard about the village anchor.

update: july 12, 2017: unpleasant visit. hate to say that the more i visit here, the less impressed i am. went with a  group of four for dinner and while wait staff was on point, the food was mediocre at best. two in our group got the fried chicken and could not finish it. batter was dark and heavy and had the taste of state fair deep fried batter--sweet and greasy. the fish and chip fries tasted the same. i got the blackened fish tacos which were skimpy and hardy blackened. and, though it was close to 90 degrees outside with high humidity, it must have been 85+ degrees inside, flies and all. we were told they'd turn up the ac but they did not. this old building is just not able to keep up with the heat and too many doors stand open with people going in and out. i'll not hurry to return.

based on a saturday brunch with a friend, we found this place to be fun and unique. the food was good but prices did not seem to match portion size or quality. we had what they advertise as a 4-egg omelet, which came to the table flat and uninspired, and the typical size of a 2-egg omelet (4 cornish hen eggs perhaps?). coffee was nice and bold but expensive. on a cold morning, the enclosed outdoor section was warm(ish) and wait staff was friendly. i'd like to go back in warmer weather and try their $10-buck-tuesday specials and perhaps even walk the park across the street.

i love the atmosphere and the food was excellent. unfortunately, we were seated in this one corner where we had to bump into other customer's tables just to squeeze through to our seat. as far as the food, the chicken kabobs were really tasty and the carrot cake was the best carrot cake i have ever had in my life. i have been to this restaurant before and i loved the outdoor seating but it was too hot to sit outside the last time i was there.

beautiful setting and awesome porch for outside seating. we had a group of 13 including some children so tough table for waitstaff but she handled it with finesse. separate checks on top of that and that did not faze her!
we ordered appetizers, entrees, wine, beer, and just about everything on the menu and some beer not on the menu. seems the sea hag bar downstairs had some better draft beers than the bar on the dining room level but our server was very pleasant and said that is not a problem and would get what ever we wanted. that is guest service exemplified. my only complaint would be one i have with many operations and that is not getting that first round of drinks out quick enough. i know it was a big order but management should jump in and get that round served and then i guarantee they would sell more in the long run. food and atmosphere great so find it and go enjoy!

going back for sure. great restaurant for a date, a pleasant surprise, nice and dark inside, chair was deep and cushy and didn't want to get up; as for the food, well it was even better. my appetizer of goat cheese gateau with grilled bread and balsamic glaze was so delicious i almost ordered another one. date ordered the filet and we both agree was the best we've tasted since it doesn't come plain but with a nice demi-glace, i had the braised short rib with roasted winter vegetables and couldn't finish the whole entree, ordered a great side salad with no iceberg lettuce in it (thank you) which was more enjoyable with the best homemade ranch dressing i've ever tasted; also got a vegetable lasagna to take for lunch the next day which was delicious as well but wish it had more sauce and smaller chunks of zucchini. service was perfect, not as far as i thought it was-just down lyndon lane a little.
