attended v&a's for a high class dinner with a company trying to get me to relocate to houston. everything was insanely good down to the dinner biscuits, and we almost sampled it all: caesar salad, crabcakes, bone-in ribeye, giant king grab leg (1/2 lb), cabernet & washed it all down with angel eyes whiskey over rocks. the hostess & waiters were superb- everything they you would expect from a five-star. of course, you pay for quality like that; but for the experience & insanely good food, i'd do it again!

great steakhouse. the shrimp cocktails, crabcakes, and oyster rockefeller were great appetizers. salads were great and the steak was superb; all of our steaks came out perfectly cooked.

i'd rate the food an easy 4/5 and the service 5/5. the food is reasonably priced for what it is.

couple complaints. this is a very noisy restaurant, even for a monday night.

now, the thing that turned me off from this place was the wine list. don't get me wrong, the wine list is extensive featuring some great vintages. this is where my issue lies: i went to order my usual caymus 40th anniversary only to be taken aback when it's priced at $395. a bottle of this wine retails for $60-$80. an up charge of over 400% pisses me off; it feels like robbery.

all in all this is a nice steakhouse and i would recommend it.

regarded by many as one of the better steakhouses in houston. service and food preparation are top-notch. there are a couple of things i've had (other than steaks) that have risen to the top of my recollection and i highly recommend. the jumbo lumpcrabcake, finished with a chive beurre blanc, quite possibly may be the bestcrabcake in the greater houston area. and a dessert, when they have it, their croissant bread pudding, served with a homemade caramel ice cream. both spectacular.

what happened here??. finally made it to v&a for my hubby's birthday last night. after all the hoopla from friends and co-workers, we were all looking forward to a great dinner. everyone besides myself had been to the restaurant before. after our experience, i would never eat here again. we came in all the way from the woodlands - way too far for a subpar meal.
everyone told me i had to eat the crabcakes as an appetizer. i love good crabcakes, but mine was pretty boring. yes, lots of quality lump crabmeat without a lot of filler, but it also didn't have a lot of flavor. i actually asked for some hot sauce to try to flavor it up some. i've never done that before. even after adding that, it was just a crabcake. nothing special. the true appetizer winner at the table was the fried onion strings. those were delish!
i had the bone-in ribeye special. a little overcooked for my taste (i ordered medium), but the flavor was really good, so i could overlook it. hubby ordered kingcrablegs & promptly sent them back when they arrived. they smelled so fishy and unfresh, he didn't even want to try a second order. it's only the second time i can ever recall him sending back a dish. so, he tried my steak and decided to order a steak instead. he got the regular ribeye off the menu. it came to him & it was a weird shade of grey-ish brown. very odd. the flavor was off, too. he ended up eating most of my steak because he just didn't like the way his tasted. not what i had in mind for his special birthday evening. he didn't even want dessert by the time they offered it for his birthday because he was so done with the food. he never turns down a good piece of chocolate cake, but this time he did. that said it all to me. i don't like chocolate desserts, so my options for sweets were limited and were the usual. creme brulee, key lime pie, some type of tart and sorbets. the sorbets peaked my attention, so i thought i'd get one of those. their flavors for the evening were apricot, guava and some other bizarre fruit flavor that sounded unappetizing. i passed on dessert, too.
after talking with our other guests, they all said every other time they have eaten at v&a before it was amazing. i'm not sure what happened last night - maybe they had the "b" team in the kitchen because it was a monday? who knows. but, i won't be back again. there are too many great places to eat closer to me where i don't have to take chances and wonder if it will be good.

perfect!. the food was excellent from start to finish. we started with calamari, quail, lobster bisque andcrabcakes were incredible. thecrabcakes were probably the best i have ever had. the special for the night was a 14ounce bone in ribeye, cooked perfectly. the chocolate cake, bread pudding, and crème burlee were perfect. the ice cream thing rolled in pecans was nothing special, but if you love ice cream go for it. this was one of the best meals i have ever had. the plumpjack wine was the most awesome wine i have ever had...

vic & anthony's houston. our visit to vic & anthony's october 8th was pleasant but not perfect. the food was very good. we ordered acrabcake for an app and was very happy with the taste and texture. we also ordered the pear salad which my wife said was very good except it had alot of large blue cheese chunks in it. you will love it if you like 1 inch squares of blue cheese. it was a little to much for her. i had the lobster bisque and it was good. for dinner i had the prime ribeye. it was cooked perfect (medium rare) and not overly seasoned. my wife ordered the veal milanese and she loved it. beware, it is a huge portion (nearly 12 inches round) and my wife only ate about a 1/3rd of it. we ordered asparagus with a side of hollandaise sauce and the au gratin potatoes. both items were very hot and very tasty. the asparagus was large but cooked perfectly tender. we shared an order of the bread pudding. it had really good flavor, however i was expecting a lighter pudding since they make sure to promote the use of croissants in it. the pudding is about the same as you would get at another place that uses regular bread. the sauce was good, the cinnamon ice cream was very creamy and tasty. the tuile was one of the best parts of the dish. my wife said she could just eat the tuile with the ice cream and have a perfect desert. overall, we were very satisfied with the food. the wine list is extensive and somewhat pricey. they have some solid selections by the glass which is refreshing since my wife and i tend to have different desires for our wine for dinner. we still spend as much as we would on a bottle but we were both able to get the wine we preferred.

the service was good but not outstanding for what i expect from an establishment such as this. we are frequent diners to high end restaurants and have come to expect a certain level of service from everyone in the restaurant when we spend 3-4 hundred dollars on a dinner for 2. there are a number of things that need to be worked on for this location to be considered as having "polished service" in my book. some examples. we had early reservations for 2 (5:30). we were sat immediately at a table set for 4. the table started being rearranged by several different people to accommodate 2 people. it took the hostess, the guy who brought the bread and water to the table and 2 trips by our waiter to get the table down to having only 2 place settings. it just seemed annoying that all this activity had to occur while we were seated to get the table arranged for 2 and could have been avoided by having the hostess ask us to wait 2-3 minutes while they got the table ready to seat 2 people. the guys that refill the water and assist the waiters are sloppy. they quickly refill the glasses and drip water on the table either from the glass being quickly filled or the pitcher they were pouring from. generally they filled the glass without moving it or if they did pick it up they placed it back in some unusual places. our waiter kept removing bread plates from the table along with any silverware that was on them. the problem was we were still eating the bread with our wine so the waiter had to bring more plates and knives back. there seemed to be a rush to pre bus the table when it wasn't necessary and then they had to bring clean plates back to the table. another thing that popped up was when we had our meal set. the waiter asked me if i would cut into the steak and see if it was cooked the way i wanted. no problem, but by the time i picked up the knife and cut into the steak he had left. the steak was fine and i didn't see the need to harp on it. the service wasn't all like this, in fact outside of these little details i felt the service was attentive. the waiter was knowledgeable on the menu and i felt that they genuinely wanted to provide good service. one thing that we were impressed with was when my wife asked if the left over veal would be good sitting in the car while we were in the theater that night. he asked what time we would be out of the theater and said they would be happy to keep the meal in the cooler and we could stop back by and pick it up.

overall, we enjoyed the meal and i felt that the service was good but not outstanding. it would be easy to correct most of the service issues to take them to the point that i would consider the service outstanding.
