verde cocina

one of my favoritemexicanrestaurants in the area. the tortillas are delicious! my favorites to order include the tortillas and guacamole and the gringos con mole. also try a margarita!

i ordered the new york strip, which admittedly isnt an obvious choice at amexicanrestaurant, but it was prominent on the menu. the steak was seasoned perfectly and very flavorful but while ordered medium rare it was barely rare and lots of gristle - just not a good cut of meat. my wifes ceviche was mostly veggies. the margaritas were exceptional, but overall it was an uninspired dinner.

i am a huge fan of verde cocina. we first discovered them a few months ago, in the pearl, and enjoyed their happy hour and some dinner. i just love that every dish is filled with veggies. they gather whatever is in season and add it to their dishes with amexicanflair.  ever since we went for the happy hour i knew i wanted to return some day for their brunch. so return we did. only this time we chose the hillsdale location. the brunch menu looked fabulous, but i went with the special of the day, which was salmon hash. my biggest concern with this is it would be salmon and potatoes, so i asked and he assured me it was filled with fresh veggies.  oh, he was right!  two eggs over easy thrown on top of this flavorful dish. huge hit. salmon hash loaded with tons of veggies my daughter got the gringas con mole. this is such a great dish. i had ordered this on our last visit with pork, but she got v

ok, but not great. pros: their signature mound of veggies is tasty, the tortillas are fresh, food is locally sourced and healthy.

cons: healthymexicandoesn't have to mean boring mexican. the two main dishes we tried (one from breakfast menu, one from lunch menu) were not very distinguished. at the very least, they should have a few tasty salsas on the table, so you can add flavor to the dishes.
