this restaurant has become a regular lunch time spot for us. we stumbled across van son while we were looking for a quick bite to eat at lunch time. we’ve come here a few times now and we can honestly say that the food has been consistently great every time. if you’re looking for a heavy meal that’s going to probably send you to sleep for the afternoon, this place should be your go to restaurant. portions at vietnamese restaurants are always notoriously massive, and van son never disappoints. i don’t think i’ve ever left without a giant bag of leftovers.

we take out from here almost once a week and dine in from time to time.  the beef saute soup is amazing....so amazing we rarely get anything else.

my boyfriend has tried the #40 at the chestermere location and absolutely loved it. i decided to give it try and it was a curry coco based spicy broth with dark chicken meat and vermicelli noodles. i absolutely enjoyed it!! the broth was served steaming hot, the spice level was perfect (not too spicy just a small kick). the odd thing is they serve this soup with lots of potatoes. anyway, i would definitely come back for this dish. the only thing was the service wasn't that attentive. they sat us in the far corner of the restaurant and we had to get their attention several times.

more selection than usual vietnamese restaurants, but very pricy, very little beef brisket in the beef brisket soup noodle and the soup is very very ... salty.  not sure why it was so salty that we had to get a bottled water.  did the owner put in too much sodium or msg or whatever???  really need to ask the owner!  noodles were over-cooked and all broken into tiny pieces.  absolutely rip-off!

this is hands down the best vietnamese cuisine, each one of the staff are wonderful and lovely.  the food is delicious not to mention their bubble tea is delicious.  i love the new renos and i'm happy that the food stayed the same.  would definitely eat here again!

this is a weekly spot for us and has been for almost a year now. the staff are wonderful and the food is fast and tasty! i haven't tried their soup yet surprisingly but their vermicelli bowls are top notch. also! make sure you get the deep fried bananas and ice cream for dessert, it s the perfect way to finish every meal!

this is the first time i came to this place :) so far i really like it. the restaurant is pretty big. a lot of pho options with really good broth. i would recommend my friends to go to this restaurant :)

overcooked noodle, greasy soup. i had their peanut beef soup. noodle was simply overcooked! soup was very greasy too. spring roll wasnt crispy enough. i rather go to my other 2 fav pho place in calgary.

always great. my fiancè and i come here quite a bit... we love it. the food is always good and the service is great. highly recommended!

83% rating ?. wow, we happened to swing by for the first time in about 2 years because i was craving lemongrass chicken , grilled shrimp - omg no flavour and greasy spring rolls, my spouse had satay chicken and spring rolls...wow... i think too many people are confused about good vietnamese food in calgary. won't be back, even though the place looks great!

forgot to mention, seems like a very clean restaurant, lots of space between tables, very comfortable dining in.

excellent. i order take-out approx. 3 times a week. #30 spicey chicken pho is the best. i order it extra spicy. it's addicting and keeps me coming back.

this place has some of the best vietnamese i've had! every item i try always is a pleasant surprise. #30 chicken sate is delicious! great flavour and good spice! i work close by and even our clientele say its way better than the last place! so good!!!

a step above the last place! i've only tried a few different things here and they have been fresh and delicious. newly renoed and very clean. the satay i tried here wasn't spicy, idk if it's supposed to be but good food. give it a try.

newly renovated, good food. van son has replaced the previous tenant, vietnam palace, just recently. new owners gutted the whole place and made it into a nice clean restaurant! #31 pho sate bo has some nice flavors happening in the broth, and the beef is soft and tender. the sprouts, basil and lime are very fresh. if you like your pho traditional spicy, ask for extra sate on the side. for appies, try the #9, sweet and sour sauce or satay over egg tofu. delicious!
