okay. where do i even begin?
tsujiri is know for having the original taste ofmatchaperfection for 155 years to date. and as amatchamaniac, i had to taste it myself.
so let's start with thematchalava cake. well yes there was soft serve ice cream served on top, and the cool cream blended perfectly with the hotmatchacake. however, the cake itself was a little dry. if it was moist, it would have been perfect! and thematchasauce (?) was too little compared to what i saw in the tv of the store.
next i had thematchamilk float, basicallymatchaice blended with milk withmatchasoft serve on top. and prolly this was my favourite of the bunch! it may seem over the top because it'smatchaovermatchabut trust me it wasn't overpowering. it was delish. 💯
third, i had thematchasundae. inside the sundae, you can see some red bean paste, toasted rice crispies (i guess) and a waffle chip on top. hmmm it was good but i didn't really enjoy the taste of the red bean paste but the rest was good!
and last, i had the really bigmatchashaved ice (i forgot the name on the menu, don't judge me!) this is called sunrise because it had condensed milk on top, you could also order the sunset but with brown sugar syrup on top. well, this looked really promising but was the most disappointing for me. it tasted like frozen green tea, blended and served in a bowl. taste wise? it wasn't exciting!
but hey, the ice cream based ones were really good! go aheas and judge thismatchahaven yourself! 💚

tsujiri specializes in all things matcha, so you can imagine my excitement when i heard they were opening their first branch in manila. phone calls and car pool plans were immediately made 🤣🤣they use ujimatchain all of their ice creams and cakes, and thismatchais carefully chosen and imported from japan.

my hands down favorite item is the tsujiri sundae. on the bottom of the cup is a layer of crunchy roasted brown rice, which adds a unique flavor and texture. a thick layer of red bean paste is plopped right in the middle to add a second texture. this is then topped with a generous serving of their creamy and "not too sweet" vanilla soft serve. to complete the dessert, a sakura-shaped cookie and mochi pieces are plopped on top, making for a total of five different, but complementary textures.

we chose the vanilla soft serve because everything else we tried was already heavilymatchabased, but anything with either of the two soft serves (matcha or vanilla) is aces in my book. the soft serve alone is worth a trip all the way to this area 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 raina cheng harvard yogo and cream

the first time i saw the post about tsujiri opening its first branch in manila made me sick.

matcha frenzy (noun)
- a rare psychological disorder that affects people who like matcha.
- brings uncontrollable hallucinations about anything and everything matcha
- people affected by this disorder are not dangerous. they are sociable but tends to speakmatchaevery now and then.

i made that up. har-har

tsujiri! what took you so long??? impatience aside, i was really really excited when i heard that they are finally opening their doors to manila'smatchadeprived. i ignored the heat and made my way to s maison.

the space they occupy is on the second level (beside blk 513). i didn't have the chance to scrutinize the interior as there were no seats available and there was a line when i arrived. one thing is for sure, the space they occupy is small, i count 5 tables (give or take). i guess they didn't anticipate that there's a sizable amount ofmatchaenthusiasts in manila.

the crew managed the line in an efficient manner. one is assigned to get the orders, present the piece of paper on the counter. it took me massive amounts of self-control not to order a lot. i finally settled on one of their bestsellers.

tsujirimatchasundae (php 285). this beautiful cup comprises ofmatchasoft serve, shiratama ball, chesnut, roasted rice crispies, red bean paste and a pink sakura wafer on top. thematchasoft serve is creamy and smooth but lacks thematchakick i am looking for. it was good, nonetheless. the red bean paste reeks of sweeteners, i guess this overpowered thematchain a way. i am not a fan of the rice crispies at the bottom as the flavor is too strong, it tastes a little bitter and overpowers the matcha. i love the chesnut and the shiratama ball though! and the sakura wafer? it is pink and tasteless.

i guess i have to customize my sundae on my next visit, skip the rice crispies, less red bean paste. or better yet, stick with thematchasoft serve.

i am still giving them a five for making mymatchadreams come true.

tried their medium-sizedmatchamilk (php170.00) yesterday and it was a big let down. i somewhat felt cheated considering the price. it had a very weakmatchaflavor to it. bland and too watery for my taste. i don't know where the 100+ year ofmatchamaking went to. i highly question it.

starbucks' green tea frappuccino/latte tastes way better.

thematchaand chocolate lava cakes were amazing desserts, but incredibly expensive at php250.00 each.

when i first came across japanese cafe, tsujiri in s maison, pasay, little did i know that they will have their soft opening the next day. i have met tsujiri philippines' representative, sean ponce, and he later on invited me to visit tsujiri to make a review about their place. so together with other foodies, we tried tsujiri's tea offerings on a sponsored visit.

tsujiri apparently has been in japan for 155 years already. it originated in uji, a japanese city south of kyoto, which is popular for its shrines and temples. tsujiri is a pioneer tea brand, and they proudly showcase their uji matcha, alongside their western-inspired desserts.

this cafe in upscale mall, s maison, is actually dominated with greenery. they have plants decorating the place. as for their menu, tsujiri has a variety of tea choices catering to those who have likely travelled japan, and those who drink matchas on a regular basis.

we ordered their signature tsujiri ice blended first. it had this bitter flavor, and a nice touch of sweetness to it. well, for me, bitterness doesn't make something, at all, better. anyway, one may choose to addmatchaice cream or vanilla to make a tsujiri ice blended float. this is good for those who would like an extra creaminess and flavor to their drink. i also suggest having this on a hot weather. know that they also have ice cream on a cone here.

here's a little trivia for you:matchais a type of green tea, same as sencha, genmaicha, and houjicha, with the latter having this bold bitter flavor to it. this roasted green tea had this brown color and tinge of green.

matchas are a good source of vitamins and minerals, like vitamins a and c, iron, potassium, and calcium, as well as protein, l-theanine (amino acid), and fiber. this tea also has lesser caffeine, and has the pigment, chlorophyll, which helps in detoxifying the body, resulting to clear skin, a healthy heart, and normal blood circulation. matchas also has the antioxidant, cathechin, which helps slow the aging process and fight cancer.

so, we also got to try their o-matcha. according to them at tsujiri, they use fresh, quality tea leaves for this drink. it consists mostly of powderedmatchaand milk, in hot water, which will be mixed together using a whisk. their wait staff will do the mixing for you. this is definitely a must-have on your visit.

we also had their yuzu citron, a drink with japanese citrus fruit flavor and milk on it.

as for their sweet offerings, my favorite was their tsujiri sundae which consisted of roasted brown rice, red bean paste, chestnut, shiratama (mochi), and the japanese traditional cherry blossom rice cracker, sakura monaka. it was a cup full of amazing flavors and textures. i'd say that this one was well-thought of given the great combination of its ingredients.

another sweet thing from tsujiri that most of us liked was their chiffon cake parfait sundae. the creamy ice cream complemented the flavors of the chiffon cake and sweet red bean.

i also suggest that you try tsujiri's shaved ice. this tower of sweetness is good for four people. we weren't actually able to try it out. they're available in two flavors - uji sunrise and uji sunset. uji sunrise is shaved ice withmatchasyrup, condensed milk, red bean paste, and mochi. uni sunset, on the other hand, has black sugar syrup instead of milk in it.

as for tsujiri's cakes, i love their citronnematchaflavored one. it's a fluffy green cake with lusciousmatchabits and cream, and a citrusy glaze. i only had a slice of it but they also offer whole cakes.

all in all, we had an amazing experience at tsujiri having drowned ourselves in the goodness of their healthy drinks.

if you want to have a taste of japan, look no further and visit tsujiri. discover the goodness of theirmatchaofferings.

i am in love with everything related to matcha. so when i heard that amatchadessert place is opening in manila, i was really excited about it! i am one happy girl. ultimatematchafix!
i ordered theirmatchasundae. from the bottom layer, it has brown rice crispies, a layer ofmatchasundae, a layer of red bean, and another layer ofmatchasundae, topped with a chestnut, a rice ball (like mochi, but plain), and a waffle. according to the staff, the pink flower thing that they serve with the sundae was unavailable, they have waffle instead. i didn't catch the name of the pink flower but it's basically a pastry made of rice. the staff assured me that the waffle tastes better because the flower thing just tastes like a holy bread (hostia). haha!
overall, thematchaitself was not too sweet nor too creamy, just the perfectmatchataste.matchamixed with rice crispies and red bean actually tastes good. however, for a dessert, it's a little pricey (php285). theirmatchasoft serve is for php130. but if you're looking for a legitmatchadessert or beverage, tsujiri at s maison is definitely a must-try.

for all of thematcha(まっちゃ/ 抹茶) or green tea lovers out there, we’re happy to announce that tsujiri (辻利茶舗), one of the oldest japanesematchabrands in the world, is now in the philippines!. we have to admit that i and me-an aren’t really big green tea fans but the mere fact that it’s a brand that originated from japan and is more than a century old is enough for me to give this a try.

tsujiri is a japanesematchabrand from kyoto, japan. established in 1860. the 155 year oldmatchastore has several branches worldwide from japan, taiwan, singapore, china, hong kong, canada, malaysia, australia, united kingdom and recently, in the philippines, which tsujiri had a grand launch this month in s'maison mall, sm moa complex, pasay city.

for php285.00, i got the bestseller tsujiri sundae. aside frommatchasoft serve it has red bean, mochi, roasted rice crisp and edible sakura flower. gorgeously served and presented to me.

🌸tsujiri sundae - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5
"seriously, i find it expensive. but once you've tasted it "japan-japan na yung lasa". i like the combination of red bean, roasted rice crisp andmatchasoft serve. the ingredients compliment each other. masarap!"
