not as good as they think they are. wednesday night octoberfest dinner using a groupon.
very difficult time making a reservation.trummer'sphone system blocks all phone calls that do not show the caller's phone number and caller id. the hostess on the phone was annoyingly condescending. when we arrived, she was even more annoying in person.
trummers is recently renovated; with a squeeky clean modernistic decor. you enter into the bar and then are shuffled into one of two dining areas.
fortunately the dining room staff was everything the hostess wasn't; friendly, helpful and welcoming.
the octoberfest menu was limited and pricey. and the menu wasn't very accurate describing the entrees. what they described as goulash with spaetzel wasn't like any goulash i ever saw before. goulash is a soup. it is not a piece of braised beef. goulash has paprika as a primary ingredient. this meal didn't come within 10 yards of any paprika. the wiener and jaeger schnitzels were ok but the jager was served lukewarm. on the good news side, the hot potato salad side dish was very good.
the beer selection was limited to bottles. the dunkel was a hefeweizen that was sweet but not a true dunkel.
lastly, the prices were much higher than i would expect for the meals offered.
not the worst but far from the best. there are infinitely better restaurants offering euro-menus in the area. but i had the feeling the annoying and pretentious hostess was a true reflection of trummers...a restaurant that isn't nearly as good as they think they are.
