interesting visit to the past. this organi
zation has added more things to the restaurant vocabulary than most (mai tai, pu pu platter, etc.), and both the food and the service were good. a pleasant experience.

dined here for my daughters birthday. i wasn't sure what to expect, but it's a pretty nice hidden gem on the water. i was happy that they did not accept my open table voucher although you can make reservations with open table for this restaurant. otherwise our food was great and would recommend it!

gustatory. this international restaurant dynasty has been around for over 80 years. charming and picturesque. famous for mai tai cocktail.

be sure to order the original mai tai if you want that tasty version and all-fresh ingredients... at lunch—the perfect time to be here because the lovely water view can be fully enjoyed--i had a macadamia nut chicken salad sandwich that was delicious, though the nuts were chopped too small to taste and i couldn’t figure out what made the potato salad side hawaiian. next time i’ll order either the chinatown chicken salad, the green goddess salad, or something smoked in the big red chinese wood-fired ovens (you can view them in action through glass walls).  another great time to be here is on a rainy day because your car is dropped off and picked up under a covered drive-thru.

to keep it short; overpriced, only seasoning used is salt, and somewhere you go to have inexpensive (for the area) drinks. i would not go there for the food.

tropical paradise. love it love it! it's like you stepped onto a tropical island and yet you are in the middle of the city. but you forget that, because the ambiance is romantic and the food is fantastic. free valet, best tables over looking the bay. the entertainment is beautiful. you'd swear you were in the south pacific with authentic island decor. i don't drink so it was great to have a whole menu of non-alcoholic fruity fancy drinks. i've told all my friends if they ever wanna little get away go to trader vic's you would think you have gone to paradise!

crispy duck tacos did the trick, oozing with plum sauce inside fried won ton shells which also held julienned vegetables i was too ravenous to identify before devouring them. the mahi mahi sliders' buns provided some much-needed absorbent carbs, and slaw dripped sloppily from my jowls.

decor is interesting, but what about the food? the menu is in keeping with everything else–hawaiian, polynesian, what have you. there is a definite chinese bent to the menu, as well. all of the meats are cooked in a pair of enormous wood-fired ovens on prominent display as you walk in. i should think it is like walking into the best restaurant in honolulu in 1957.odd though the menu might be, the food is good. i started with the tuna poke, cubes of raw tuna and avocado served with taro chips:

a long-time tradition of my close friends had always been a journey to trader vic's. incredible service blended with sinful beverages and fine food had been well worth the considerable investment to do so. the staff used to be the icing on the cake, a virtual all-star assembly that did "the little things" to entertain and assist. this standard, unfortunately, has slipped as of late. the tables seem too close together and staffing has not matched the increase in volume. we've been labored to get the next round ordered and drinks and food quality is inconsistent. you should never pay that much to spend the evening thinking about what you need.
