one of my favouritejapaneserestaurants in town! i love there aburi sushi platter and skewers. you must check out their daily special menu when you come here. the service is always impressive here.

it was recommended by my friend in sydney who is alsojapaneselike myself. i loved all their food and price is reasonable compared to melbourne’sjapanesefood. every ingredients tasted fresh and they have a great selection of sake. i would definately recommend anyone looking for authenticjapaneseto make a visit. tucked away in a residential area of cammeray. i also loved how they played “showa music” :) keep us the good work!!

rang on sunday evening at 730 to reserve a table for 3 people for 815pm on the same night. however due to unforeseen circumstances, we were unable to make it. we rang straightaway at 8pm to cancel our reservation only to be abused over the phone by the manager for not letting them know sooner. even after apologising to him, he just kept abusing us until finally we just hung up. we were wanting to visit this restaurant for some time and would have postponed our visit for another night. however, after the way were treated, we would never visit this place even if it was the lastjapaneserestaurant in the world. there are plenty of wonderfuljapaneserestaurants nearby that we will continue to patronise in the future.

please note, there is a common theme to many of the reviews on this establishment. many people have commented on the rudeness of the manager and lack of customer service. it's probably high time you listen to the people who pay your wage and support your business and stop treating people like it's a privilege to be your customer.

sometimes the decor of the restaurant doesn’t match expectations and sometimes you know when you sit down, you’re in for a great meal. we wanna just straight up give this place a five but that would break out own rule :)

this place is definitely a hidden gem and honestly you can’t say you’ve had realjapanesefood until you eat here. simply one of the best in sydney, yeap i’m foodie shaming you into coming here!

very rude service by the owner , was rushed during meal to finished , how can a family of four with two young children finished 8 dishes in half an hour ? food is definitely way overrated . how can they called themselves ajapaneserestaurant for such a poor service and food quality .
much better yakitori down at road at crows nest for half the price.

toriciyajapaneseis an authenticjapaneserestaurant situated in cammeray. pictured: fresh sashimi platter, daifuku and green tea ice cream. it was a nice surprise to find a strawberry inside the daifuku. we enjoyed the food. there were more food, but i can’t find the pictures :(

love their miso eggplant and grilled sea bass fish head yet the yakitori are very good as well! authenticjapaneselittle restaurant, eggplant was slightly fried and served with a thick spread of miso sauce on top, the tangy sweet taste made me lick my fingers! the grilled bass fish head was seasoned with salt, the meat was very tender and juicy! wasnt dry and overcooked at all!

really nice authenticjapaneserestaurant/sushi bar. cosy interior (definitely recommend a booking for weekends), veryjapanesefeel, excellent friendly service. food is very good (except for the wagyu beef which i found average, and not worth the additional cost). had the degustation menu, and while expensive, it is really good to get multiple dishes. while each one seems small, i left feeling really full. seated at the bar, you get to see the sushi chef in action. truffled cabbage smelled of truffles, but i couldn't really taste it while eating. service was prompt and attentive (water refilled almost immediately)

hidden gem of a place in the quiet suburbs of the north shore. it looked just like an izakaya straight from japan. there were quite a few tables ofjapanesepeople dining, which is always a good endorsement. we got the degustation plus a couple of extra sides. way more food then we can fit in, but i saw the chawanmushi in the menu & i just had to try it! the egg mixture was very smooth & subtle seasoning, just enough to highlight the other meat/prawn in the mix. the dishes of the degustation included a variety ofjapanesefavourites: kingfish sashimi, tempura, wagyu, yakitori skewers, and a trio of sushi. the surprising highlights were the cabbage baked in truffle oil, and the dessert with the fresh strawberry inside the mochi. most of the other dishes were quite good, except for the yakitori skewers and the agadashi tofu (avoid if ordering a la carte). overall a very enjoyable dinner.

i have been this restaurant a least 5 times before, but the food quality is dropped so badly and also the service as well. the staff there is so so so rude !!
i mad a booking for dinner at 8 pm tonight , me and my friend arrived a little bit earlier at 7:50, so we just went in side want to check if the table is available for us, there was one table is empty and bar table is empty as well , so i asked the waiter if we can come in now ? he is so so so rude, he said if you want come in and sit down it’s not ok , you booking is 8:00 you have to come at 8:00 ! you can sit down on the floor !!! that’s what he said ! and i was so shocked i said i won’t come back at 8 , and than he and chef all very angry and super rude they reply me “ good don’t come back !” that’s the worstjapaneseservice i have ever experienced in my life! mostjapaneseare so kind and nice , i don’t think they arejapanese! they should feel shame to be rude like this !!! i will never go back to this restaurant!!!!!!! ever !!!

this was my second experience here in six months. i’ve got to admit that i haven’t yet really been blown away byjapanesecuisine, though the bar has been set extremely high here.

both times we decided to be bold and choose our own selections from the menu, instead of the set degustations. notable dishes include - wagyu beef salad, tempura prawns, pork belly skewer, saffron cabbage and sushi platter..

the sushi platter was excellent, hands down the best sushi i have ever had - fish pieces were so thick and did not have any odour to suggest they were not fresh -thoroughly enjoyed!

my favourites had to be the tempura broccoli, duck giblets skewers and tofu. the plum drink was deliciously refreshing, made my night.

the setting was simple and authentic, the hospitality was polite - i wish they would have explained and gave us a bit more understanding of what we were ordering from the menu. the only criticism is that the restaurant is cramped and sitting in a tight position for over an hour and a half was enough for me.

expected the bill to be a bit less for relatively simple food - have had better overall experiences for $100 per head, especially as we were celebrating a special occasion.

this is one of the best authenticjapaneserestaurant in sydney. the sushi in terms of the rice and the meat are just perfect. make me feel like travelling back to japan. the special and chef recommendation are always on the top of the list. this place has a passion for food.  enough say
