prefer taco cabana. seriously, there is nothing special here. taco cabana is much better, torchy's just has better hype and advertising.

torchy’s lived up to the hype. the avocado taco was beautiful. these are the things more delicious than deep-fried avocado: __________. but the taco wasn’t even the most delicious thing we ordered. mr. beez got an order of the grilled corn. it was basically a cup of grilled corn kernels, rice and a sauce. it was brilliant. it was so sweet and so tangy and so smoky and so everything. i took a bite and fell in love, and really wanted to get my own order of it, but by this point in the day i was so stuffed that this was an impossibility. at torchy’s you’ll get great tacos, but do not miss the corn.

torchy's tacos began in austin as a food trailer. today, it has several locations in austin, houston. fort worth and dallas. we dined at the original, which funnily enough it is a trailer park. we were taken by it immediately. we wanted to try a bit of everything, but settled on guacamole, and green chile pork, brushfire and kingpin tacos.

how were the tacos? well, these were actually quite good. my libertarian was a substantial taco, built upon a deep-fried jalapeno sausage. i’m not sure who supplies their sausage (there are more jalapeno sausage vendors in austin than i could swing a stick at), but it was a nicely flavorful and zesty sausage, with good meaty notes, and a pleasant breading.

taco truck is a movable feast. "i drove by and saw a trailer, and it was a trailer serving tacos. and so i parked the car. i went to the trailer and ordered a taco and found a bench under a tree under the sun and drank deep of a topo chico and i ate the taco and it was good. fitzgerald was worrying about whether or not the hot sauce was giving him a fever. but i basked in the sun and the shade and enjoyed the tacos thoroughly. knowing that now was a time to eat tacos and drink fizzy drinks and later was a time for work. and i would work hard, and the work would be good." food 21/30 decor 23/30 service 18/30.

often tacos ordered this way can be quite small, and the idea is to order a few. these were not that kind. they were larger and full to the top with their fillings. all were delicious and were a great start to the day.

it's a fine taco. torchy's makes a fine taco. i've eaten at their establishments twice. once, at their food truck, which was excellent, and the second time, at one of their brick and mortar stores a little north (can't remember the street), which was less impressive. still, they make a fine taco. the fried avacado is a winner. the brush fire is great, but ridiculously hot.

dallas recently got a torchy's. while i am excited about this, i found another place in dallas that might outdo torchy's. i hate to compare, but good 2 go taco is my new godsend for innovative, wonderful gringo tacos. if y'all are ever in the (obviously less cool) dallas, stop by good 2 go for a slice of taco heaven.

this stand is in the trailer park and eatery , which features a number of other food trailers. i prefer this to los angeles' food truck scene - the location doesn't need to be hunted down, and you don't have to eat on the sidewalk!

good, but.... nothing to write home about. i'm thinking they're relying more on reputation than anything else. i had the beef fajita taco, and it was okay, but i wouldn't go out of my way for it. i do want to try their baja shrimp taco, just for curiosity's sake. but, when i'm in the neighborhood, i think i'll stick with man bites dog, which really rates up there.

overrated. i can't believe i paid $4 for this. everything tastes oversalted and from a can. we should expect more.

delicous tacos!. i live in san antonio and there are tex-mex restuarants everywhere. torchy's. however, is not tex-mex. the tacos are fresh and tasty and not greasy at all! try thier taco of the month... they are always delicious and different.

great tacos. we were driving around looking for a place to eat and we happened to see this place. we had to stop just because of the sign, "trailer park and eatery". we were not disappointed. the tacos were fresh and very filling...we ordered two tacos each, the green chile pork taco, migas, dirty sanchez (guffaw!) and the republican. the next time we are in town we are hitting that place first.
