when we arrived on freemont street, walked down the street until we found binions. which is a casino, deli, hotel, restaurant and i'm sure a few other things. being an older place we had a bit of trouble navigating the building. quite a bit actually. after 20 minutes of taking the wrong elevator or following the signs to the old location we made it up to the top. as we walked in i could tell it was worth the effort. surrounded by windows with a view of all of freemont street and the rest of vegas as well. the old school charm and a view like that is all you need.once we sat down our waiter ran us through the menu and explained everything. definitely an older style menu but i'd already eaten at several places on the strip. we traded flatbreads for baked oysters and ahi tuna for lobster bisque. this was exactly what i was looking for. started off with oysters rockefeller, came out quick and were packed with flavor. then we had a 10oz new york and a stuffed portabella ravioli. both were done to perfection. i have zero complaints about the food. the ravioli was surprisingly enough nearly asgoodas the steak. swimming in a creamy pesto sauce and packed full of mushrooms.the décor inside is similar to the menu, old school and as long as you're in the mood to enjoy a meal with some real old time charm, i cant think of a better place to go, if you're hoping for glitz and glamour stay on the strip.overall it was a great experience, food was good, wine went perfect with everything and the views are asgoodas it gets.  just make sure to get better directions.

disappointment. i was on a girls trip to vegas w/ 5 girlfriends. we decided to spend saturday evening on freemont street, and we wanted to have a nice dinner before taking it all in. we made reservations for 8:00 and headed downtown.

the onegoodthing about this place is the view. it is really great. but sadly, that's it! the service was appalling. we had to flag down our waiter after our water glasses had been empty for an extended period of time. and because we were a party of 6, a gratuity of 18% was already going to be added to our bill. one of my friends can't eat dairy, and when she asked our waiter if the bread contained any dairy, his response was, "i don't think so. i'm not really sure. but they do have flour in them." okay?

after an hour, our food finally came out. i ordered the small filet ($39) and asked that it be cooked medium rare. i knew it was a bad sign when i practically had to saw it apart. it was cooked medium well at best, and there was no way i was sending it back after waiting almost an hour for our food already.

i truly do not mind paying top dollar for a nice meal. this was our last night in vegas, and we were all utterly disappointed in our experience at top of binion's. i had one cocktail, a salad and the filet and paid $57 before tax/tip. i can't even say this meal was "average". i'd give this place 1.5 stars out of 5.

the steakhouse has always been exceptional. the prices have gone up quickly over the years we've been enjoying the steakhouse. thegoodthing is they have instituted nightly specials that we found very reasonable. only serious complaint is when you order something special like a desert with extra ice cream for example. they will sock it to you on cost. that's not a real complaint. just a warning.

over rated not worth the money anymore. i ordered the filet minon, medium well pink on the inside. with baked potato, sour cream and vegetable. the hot rolls served were very good. the dinner - the steak was obviously sitting in the kitchen awhile before being served as it was served warm. the potato also was just warm, and the string beans barely warm. the filet was not as tender as i expected or usually receive when eating at a supposed top quality steakhouse. the flavor wasgoodand the beans were quite tasty as was the potato. because of the price i expected a better meal than they served. the service was poor as they aren't interested in a single, but appear to give much better service to tables of several people. they are not what they used to be, they are living on a reputation they no longer maintain. go somewhere else.

best steakhouse downtown. even if you are staying on the strip you're going to go downtown sometime to enjoy the "freemont street experience". when you're there go to binion's for dinner. not only is this a great steakhouse the panoramic view of the city from binion's 24th floor is amazing. i think the steaks are asgoodas you will find anywhere and the service was excellent.

skip the coffee. it's actually a verygoodlittle cafe, with crummy coffee, but big portions and a very old-school feel great breakfast & sandwiches.
