tony’s is a teppan yaki staple in christchurch and the riccarton branch is very good. the decor is smart and modern and the layout spacious and relaxed.

the chefs are talented, the staff are all very friendly and attentive and the food is amazing!

be sure to give the lava roll signature dish a go. it is extravagantly put together by the teppan yaki chefs. made from seafood, topped with japanese mayo and fantastic to watch being made - and it tastes as good as it looks too!

we’ll definitely be back!

absolutely delicious food, just a shame that it is a bit on the pricey side!! it’s very good for special occasions, but not for something that you just pop in for.

much better teppanyakis in town.
had the weekly special which was suppose to be all you can eat. but it’s not when u wait for 20mins in between each very small plate of food. left hungry and frustrated. ended up leaving half way through them cooking our next plate cus the wait was ridiculous, the place was hardly busy.
pathetic apology from the owner as we made our complaint and just seemed eager to take our money.
don’t waste your money here.
$100 to walk out hungry, frustrated and angry.

awesome food, great vibes and highly trained staff for a good meal. definitely recommend people who wants something interactive to try teppanyaki or for those who just want a simple meal to try the sashimi. would definitely go back :)

the waitress that served us had a straight face on the whole night, very hostile and rude when she repeatedly asked for our orders. feels like im scared to go back. but worst of all, they're stingy with their meals and it cost heaps. would never recommend this at all!

the sukiyaki hotpot is very value for money if you can keep eating. they're not stingy with the type of ingredients that they give and it's fresh (succulent scallops, salmon, awesome beef, etc). the teppanyaki buffet, on the other hand, doesn't have much selections but it still tastes great!

fantastic service, friendly welcoming and helpful. the food quality spot on. a seat right by the cooker was great, scary when the flames go up but lots of fun. highly recommend.

had lunch here, great okonomiyaki, brings me right back to osaka.
staff are lovely and all foods are nicely presented.
will be going there more often!

tony's are the grandaddy of teppan-yaki's in this town. they provide a good night out with all the usual flair associated with this style of cooking.   this restaurant is more spacious than ferrymead.  parking can be a bit hit and miss.  a bit pricey, one for 'occasions.'

haven't been to tony's since before the earthquakes as ferry road was quite a hike from where we live.  love that they have extended the original restaurant, and for the extra size, the service was brilliant.  food came out in a flash and was superb as usual.  couldn't fault any of it, thoroughly enjoyed the complementary fried sushi, yum yum yum.

extremely extremely rude waitress!!!, i came with 2 of my friends and didnt get a welcoming or even a hello .we ordered ebi tempura , wakame and sushi and they must have thought we were just student and had no money to eat in the expensive place , they treated us so badly , and gave us a very disrespectful face cause we ordered very little, i would not recommend this place to anyone ever,the worst experience i have had in new zealand ever!!!

i went to tony's teppan yaki for lunch and ordered the two lunch meals. frozen fish usually have a lot of water content so i presume the sashimi is fresh because that was legit! the atmosphere is good and service is wonderful. overall i would go their once every so often when i feel fancy.

i love this type of eating (teppan) and these guys have done it proud tonight. great selections, great staff and great tastes. i'm defiantly coming back. :)
