southtown charm without all the high prices of "trendy" eateries.
the newly remodeled place is an improvement from when i first visited years ago. i make it a point to visit when i'm at first friday in order to get some consistently good tex mex food and cold mex beer.
the rice and beans are standard but good. the cilantro creamenchiladasare a great choice as the sauce is rich and creamy with a good flavoring of cilantro. the chicken used is flavorful and juicy.
my quesadillas with beef fajita were also really good. the tortillas are fluffy and have a nice handmade taste to them. only negative is the beef as it was a little tough, but the flavor was there.
i strongly believe that titos will outlast all others in the area, with exception to mad hatters of course.

when in san antonio, get off the beaten path and try this amazing restaurant. my husband and i were in san antonio for a few days and we saw this place while on a city tour bus. it had such a high rating on urbanspoon that we decided to give it s try. so glad we did!! i had the cilantro creamenchiladasand my husband had the hatch green chile hamburger. we both had the mango chamos margarita that our waiter recommended as their best seller. the margarita was better than the one that i had on the riverwalk that was supposed to be the best. theenchiladaswere probably the bestenchiladasi've ever had. give it a try. it's worth the walk from downtown.

i'm in the minority. i've tried to like this place twice, but every time i sit and eat, the food has been not at the right temp, authentic tasting or very interesting in general. sure, it's cheap and plentiful, but there are so many other places that offer inexpensive tex-mex for the same price point, but with much more flavor.

theirenchiladasare just a mess. the only ones worse in town might be down the street at casbeers.

they have such a great location, making it even tougher for me to really understand how their kitchen can crank out such thoughtless food. it could be a great neighborhood spot, but as it stands, it's only attempting to reach for adequate.

great. i was passing through san antonio looking for some good mexican and tito's did the job. after reading the reviews i tried the cilantroenchiladasas many suggested. i don't usually order cream based dishes, but tried it and it was great. fajita nachos were very good. marios plate was large but delicious. we were a little skeptical walking in but left happy we stayed.

service please?. i've loved everything i've ever eaten from tito's, and although it doesn't provide the atmosphere nearby rosario's does, the food at tito's is much better. everything is fresh and well-prepared. the cilantro creamenchiladasare by far my favorite. unfortunately, it seems that in southtown, the restaurants that have really good food come with crappy service, and the ones with great service have mediocre to crappy food. for some reason, the combination of great service and great food are not to be found in southtown. the last time i had breakfast at tito's will be my last time to set foot in the place because of the crappy service i received. when i entered the restaurant, there were about 5 or 6 occupied tables; however, i saw no waitstaff around. i seated myself, which is customary at tito's, and i waited about 10 minutes before a waitress, who was covered in tattoos, finally appeared. a couple seated at a nearby table immediately asked her for coffee refills. she told them she would take care of it. instead she went to an empty table and began clearing the dishes from it. with her arms loaded with dirty dishes, she stopped by my table and asked if i wanted anything. i jokingly told her that i was just loitering, but that i'd take a menu. she gave me a dirty look and walked away with the dirty dishes. then, she came back a few minutes later and asked me if i really wanted a menu. i assured her that i did. the people at the next table asked again for their coffee refills. she rolled her eyes and walked away. after about 5 more minutes, she returned with a menu and the coffee for the next table. she tossed me the menu from the other table and then proceeded to pour the coffee. then, she went to a booth and refilled that customer's coffee cup and then sat down with him, and they began having a conversation. i quickly figured out what i wanted from the menu, but the waitress had her back to me, and i could not get her attention. i motioned to a girl sitting behind the cash register to get her attention, but the girl just smiled. after a few minutes, the waitress got up and walked around the dining room. she asked me if i was ready to order, and i told her that i had been ready for some time. she replied, "why didn't you come and get me?" i put in my order, and the waitress sat back down with the patron in the booth and began chatting. my tacos took an unusually long time to get, and i think it was because she was too busy talking to pick up my order from the kitchen. when she brought me my order, she just dropped the plate down on my table and began to walk away. before she was half-way to the booth where she had been sitting, i interjected that i needed a coffee refill. i could tell that she was ticked off that i wanted something else by the way she stormed to the kitchen to get the coffee. when she passed by the couple at the table nearby she retorted, "i guess y'all want more coffee too, huh?" she refilled all our coffee cups and made a beeline for the booth and sat back down. getting her attention again when i was ready for my check was totally out of the question. i waited longer for her to return than what it took to eat my meal. i finally walked to the girl at the register and told her that i was ready to pay, but that i hadn't yet received my check. she had to yell quite loud to get the waitress's attention at the booth and get her to come over with the check. when she handed the girl my check, the waitress asked me if everything was ok. i just smiled and didn't say anything. then, she obnoxiously asked me, "what's wrong, sir? are you ok? is there something the matter with you?" i just shook my head and left. before i was out the door, she was seated back at the booth, engaged in conversation.

go, enjoy and then thank me later.. everyone knows that rosario's in southtown is good, but just down the street sits tito's and it delivers flavor that is just as solid. i celebrate their entire menu with my favorites being the cilantroenchiladasand tacos al carbon. the salsa has some nice heat to it, but it's not overwhelming and they also have sweet tea, which is a big bonus for me.

the service has been good and friendly every time i've been and the food has been fresh and quickly delivered. they also have a bar section with a few tvs. the mexican beer selection is very nice.

the only drawback is finding a place to park which is an issue in all of southtown.

one of my favorites. everything i've had here is great. my personal standby are theenchiladastejanos, cheeseenchiladaswith a chili con carne sauce with just the right amount of oregano. their red salsa is fresh and addictive. excellent homemade flour tortillas, and the coffee is strong and almost always from a fresh pot. the best part of their breakfast are the papas con chorizo.
