returning back to goa after 6 months, it was totally time to binge eat goan cuisine and definitely catch up with little sister ingrid. no place better suited theses requirements, thentingerestaurant, in the heart at panjim city. this charming multicuisine restaurant feels comfortable and cozy during the cold rainy evening that my sister and i visited.
tinge is a blend of spice and flavour and represents the coasts of india from goa, malwan, tamil nadu andra and bengal. it indulges in the varied option of fresh seafood to the right combination of spices. the menu is a flavour-some journey across the coastal belts imparting the aroma of rich spice and taste. it’s definitely a culinary delight that’s hard to miss.
we started off with good cocktails- vodka based martini (a very vodka centric with hint of lemon that reminds me of a sophisticated boozy lemonade) and the whiskey based cocktail - whiskey sour -was light enough for a dark spirit drink) with stuffed squids (cooked in coastal coconut and spiced gravy) . i wish i had a few more of those squids.
the rest of the meat-centered meal was tasty. the malwani sukha mutton, is a red masala based chunky mutton serving. the meat was sublime because of its rich flavour and it speaks to how fresh the meat was. the chicken lasagne, a tomato sauce marinated in lasagna sheets and baked with white sauce and cheese.
for dessert, and the total winner of the evening was the chesses cake bebinca cheese cake, was a true epitome of the fusion goan cuisine.
overall it’s a great multicuisine restaurant that has a neighbourhood type of feel. no pretence on the food or the service. the food was totally a load of flavours, letting the fresh ingredients shine!
