always happy to find a tibetan restaurant. we're suckers for momos, and can almost never find them anywhere. we ordered pork and veggie momos, steamed (much better this way). both delicious, though the veggie ones (if you like fennel) were better. the lamb curry was good, though the portion of meat was rather small. the bread that came with the curry was excellent. the veggie tibetan pita wrap thinger was tasty as well. what really made the meal authentic, though, was the amazingly friendly service. the waitress was great to talk to and had good menu suggestions. if you've ever had tibetan food, i'm sure you'll be happy to find this place, and if you haven't, you should definitely make your way over and try it.

good food. went there a couple of days ago, tried the lamb curry, momos and the septa. everything was amazing, specially the bread served with the lamb was great. the indian dishes were authentic, only suggestion would be to add more tibetian dishes as the menu was heavily indian.

wonderful food.. wonderful hospitality.. this review is long overdue. this small homey place made such an impression that i'm writing this review 5 months after our visit, labor day weekend 2010. my wife, 2 kids (ages 9 and 5), and i were exhausted and hungry after a fun day of sightseeing in victoria. we found this place by luck using the proximity search feature on the urbanspoon iphone app. it was late on a sunday night and we got there just as they were closing, but the owner and her husband welcomed us warmly.

the food was fabulous - we all enjoyed it. i'm an omnivore, my wife is vegetarian, and my kids are good eaters but sometimes balk at spicy food. there was something to please everyone and both of my kids kept saying "yummy" including saying it to the chef/owner when she came our of the kitchen to make sure we were enjoying everything. once she met us and asked us a few questions, she brought all sorts of "extra" things for us to try - each was wonderful. the tibetan cuisine here is similar to indian food (the owner is ethnically tibetan but was raised in india and is "indian" as well).

as for other details, it's tucked away on a quiet side street just a few blocks from the waterfront. the ambience is nice - cozy and clean. the owners were very gracious and chatted with me and my family well after the meal when they just could have easily ignored us so we woudl leave and they could close up.

our family enjoys going out to eat. on this trip, we ate everything from street food to fine dining at the empress. this was our most memorable and enjoyable meal of the trip. try it. you have little to lose as it's inexpensive and you might enjoy it us as much as we did.

alright. we had dinner here a couple of weeks ago, and i don't remember the exact dishes that we ate. we thought everything was good, but nothing was exceptional. i thought that the olive oil in the salad that came with the momos was an odd flavour.
the service was faily awkward. our server was clearly new and couldn't answer the vast majority of our questions, which was disappointing since we were hoping to learn more about a cuisine that we were unfamiliar with. the other server, who seemed like he may be an owner, was very nice and funny. however, it felt like he was staring at us the entire time.

good chai. have eaten there many times with a happy gluten free belly
best chai i have had outside of india. wish the home made hot sauce recipe hadn't been changed, it was so good at the old location, but things have to change. used to love the salmon curry, hope it returns to the menu some day. recommend to bring your own salt as some menu items can be a bit bland and they don't have any on the table. nice to see the restaurant doing so well!

great food! - you have to go!. in november 2010, i went to tibetan kitchen with my mother for lunch. both myself and my mother ordered the butter chicken lunch special, which came to a reasonable $20 in total. the butter chicken was amazing with just the right amount of spices. the portions were also perfect for a lunch. i definitely plan to go again in the near future.

pemba (the owner) came out to chat with us, and told us she uses organic, free range eggs and local produce. there are no chemicals or preservatives in her food. i could feel the love in this place and the food. what a delight! simple yet incredibly tasty food. the pickle in oil was the best, i bought a jar.

finally. had lunch here for the first time, and was blown away by the quality, the service, and the price. the owner came out to tell me about her experiences in nepal and india, served free chai tea, and created a very welcoming atmosphere. the butter chicken curry was spot on, and i will be back for more :)

feed tibet!. where is the tibetan food? all i got was a re-hash of indian food i could go anywhere for,and with out the yelling from the kitchen that i could do without. i would try again, but this place needs a little more maturing.

excellent. it's easy to tell when the owners/chef/staff take pride in their business, and this was obvious in every facet of our experience here. fantastic meal from start to finish, we ordered twice as much as we intended when arriving, severely overate, and were barely able to hobble home, but it was worth it.

everything served was clearly house-made, fresh, perfectly prepared, featured quality ingredients & ultimately was super tasty. we had the feature dinners - appy, salad, entry, desert, and all were delicious, and this is coming from someone known to be a grade-a professional complainer - not the easiest dinner to please.

comfy place too, great vibe. an instant new favorite.

first night in victoria, and we were starving. walked around a bit, hoping to avoid tourist traps, and ended up here, tibetan kitchen cafe. before i go on, i have no experience with specifically tibetan food. did i know if what i ate was authentic or not?

good & cheap. we tried tibetan kitchen for lunch, the server was odd but the food was tasty and cheap. we had the momos and then curry. they even added an extra momo to our order so we could each have 2 - nice touch.
