a delight!. have been wanting to try tibetan kitchen so jumped at the chance when group-on available.
small quiant restaurant with warm, friendly top-notch service. we walked in during busy dinner rush without a reservation so instead of turning us away or forcing us to crowd his entrance he took down our number and called us when table available about 10 minutes later - now that's a restaurant staffed with people who care about it's customers! for meal experience... excellent! everything fresh, tasty and made in-house. any of the appetizers are a must try especially momos. the curry is delicious and flavourful. food definitely made with tibetan love. prices are not cheap especially when wanting to share a bunch of different dishes but you are paying for a uniquely memorable experience and food is authentic and handmade by tibetan chef pemba. the cuisine is unlike anything i've ever tried (asian meets indian) and we will be back for more!

best curry in town. we made reservations for 9 people on saturday night . we have lamb curry , shrimp curry and shepta's . the food was excellent , the flavours and the fresh ingredients . the waitress said they make all their sauces at the restaurant and my goodness they are doing a good job . it was pretty busy but the service was good , a little hard to understand the waitress at times but our plates were taken on time our drinks were always full . all in all an awesome experience . definitely going back .

i feel ripped off. i can't believe i paid $15 for such a bland meal, made with frozen peas and carrots. poor service on top of that as well! i will never come here again.

surprisingly disappointing. saw the rave reviews and high ratings and figured it must be decent, but it was the exact opposite. bland, tasteless, and overpriced dinner. this cafe boasts organic, fresh food - but the veggies (broccoli, peas, carrots) all tasted like frozen ones to me, with no flavour. perhaps other menu items are better, but what we had was pretty bad. we had the vegan momos (they were okay, but they were deep fried and would have been better steamed), masala chai (awesome), thukpa (tasteless), and shepta (better but still boring and overpriced). we had pork, which i understand is a naturally dry meat - but this was exceptionally dry, over cooked meat. i was recently in northern india (dharamshala) where tibetan food is abundant, and sadly this cafe doesn't even come close.

this is hands down the best indian food in town (no offense meant by just calling it indian)! there is nothing run-of-the-mill about the food here. the menu is very different from other indian restaurants so it is always a tasty adventure.

what a disappointment. i used to come here for lunch quite a bit and thoroughly enjoyed the food. my husband and i came with another couple using a groupon last year and enjoyed our dinner. we finally came again last night and were totally shocked by the difference in quality and the high prices. the watermelon salad was $13 - so my expectations were high. cut up pieces of watermelon with some spinach on the bottom and goat cheese on top with what honestly tasted just like vinegar for the dressing. sometimes a simple dish can be exquisite - this wasn't. the only highlight was the kale and onion rings - actually pakoras - some with onion and some with kale. this was a ridiculously large portion - too much for the two of us. served piping hot and absolutely delicious for $10. i had the vegetarian momos for my entre - nothing special - nothing like i remember these being. the worst dish was the salmon curry which i have had before for lunch and found very tasty. for $20, there was a big bowl of curry, a smaller bowl of rice and another of steamed vegis and two puris - puffed fried bread. it only looked big as the curry was two severely overcooked pieces of salmon drowning in a soup of curry. my husband said it didn't taste like the salmon had actually been cooked in the curry. the glass of wine was only $6 but it was a very cheap wine. the service was very good - all of our needs and wants were quickly attended to. but overall i think it is obvious why the restaurant wasn't very busy on a saturday night. we won't be back. there are just too many other better choices in victoria.

...even if it has been a while, my mouth is watering thinking about the complexity of the spices in this dish. so glorious! the texture was spot on as well - very thick. the secret was apparently ground cashews - something i should have guessed, but had not.

food lacks taste and quality. food is greasy. they apparently think frying adds flavor. poorly prepared. i would definitely not eat here again.

call that a curry ?. we went twice with high hopes, lots of good reviews and nice staff, but boy was i dissapointed. i love curries,i've travelled around india for 6 months, i come from england where curry is the national dish, so i feel justified in saying this is a terrible curry.

bland ,flavourless, never seen a spice in it's poor miserable life kind of curry.

the popadums where nice though

why had i not been here before?. i am ashamed to say i am a local and after 8 years in victoria (thanks to groupon) i found this little place in downtown. now, it is one of my favourite places. i have tried several dishes and not once i have left disappointed. all food is made from scratch with natural and organic ingredients. the fusion of indian, tibetan and even chinese cuisine is a very unique concept. service is always good and the price of the food is consistent with the quality. don't forget to get a dessert. they are very unique!

the food was okay however i feel the value for what you get is really poor. i ordered a beet salad for $10 and literally all there was was about 5 cut up beets. there was no lettuce, other vegetables, sauce etc, just beets. how much do you think it costs them to make, under $1? in addition, the chicken curry had not a single vegetable in it, just the chicken (tasted frozen and flash fried). i've never heard of a curry that had either no spices (i asked for hot and had to ask for additional spice on the side to give it any flavour) or veggies in conjunction with meat.
also, both drinks i ordered debatably had any alcohol in them.
this place is running a shoe string budget and charging the prices of a mid-level restaurant.

eat here. finally had a chance to check this restaurant out. it's a small, cozy, nicely decorated restaurant. the service was great. price is a little more on the expensive side of casual dining. we ordered a little bit of everything. my favorites were the momo dumplings and the chai tea (best i've tried). the curry dish was okay and so was the shepta. the gulab jamun was delicious! 100% better than the one at spice jammer.
