...at one point, all of us came to the same conclusion – although nothing was bad, it just felt like the kitchen was trying too hard.

great place, just small!. very great service, but there was a bit of a wait, as the place fills up quick and there is not much room. however, once you have enjoyed a beer, and are seated, the food is wonderful. loved the mushrooms!

this place is not for everyone, but we enjoyed our time! need to go back soon.

gluten-free friendly is a lie.... went here with my family and my dad is on a gluten free diet. the server wasn't very educated about the ingredients and majority of the dishes we wanted to order weren't even gluten-free! portions are that for a toddler and the prices are not friendly either. over-hyped and over-rated.

holy pig!!. this is one of those places that makes you feel like a "cool person" when you walk in the door. the new theme in a lot of restaurants around edmonton is trying to make a place look rusty with vintage articles, old looking chairs, minimalist decor, and a small amount of space. the problem with all these places is that they charge an outrageous amount of money for their food! we came here for snacks and a drink, left paying $100 only to go home and cook dinner. in my books spending a lot of money for food that isnt satisfying, isnt "cool."

inconsistent. i have been here about 20 times since they opened, have tweeted, facebook'd, and in person raved to everyone about their fiercely local cuisine and badass cocktails. i've used the phrase "my favourite place in town hands down" many times while hyping it up to people that haven't been. i'm in the industry, so friends and colleagues take my reviews seriously. i was thoroughly embarrassed when i took a group of 7 people here couple of nights ago. we had made a reservation, so we assumed they would be prepared for us. menu items had run out, restrictions couldn't be accommodated, and 1 diner's meal was completely forgotten about for 50 minutes (he didn't want it anymore at that point). their dessert was comp'ed, but the gesture seemed like too little too late. i am sorry to say i will be weary of frequenting three boars as often as i have been, and will definitely be talking about this awful dining experience as much as i have raved about them in the past.

i would go back. we ate here for dinner before a show. the service was excellent and attentive. yes, this place is tiny... and busy! once seated in the small upstairs restaurant be prepared to sit very close to the next table.
our absolute favourite was the egg yolk mushroom toast. wow by far my favourite. the pork dish we ordered was average, as was the olives and the devils on horseback... we would go back just for the egg yolk toast!! and the other dishes deserve a try before we make final judgement.

one less patron.. i've always enjoyed three boars, i will start with that, but this is not a positive review and since they missed plates and served cold ones i had to share my experience.
i raved to some three boars virgins about my past experience, shared photos got them wound up and hungry. arrived to a somewhat busy vibe, but nothing that could justify somebody waiting 50 minutes before being told their order hadn't been fired up and then asked if they still wanted it. a grown man needs to eat, but that can make anybody lose their appetite out of fear of waiting another 30 minutes. miso braised pembina pork belly was the star at the table, but last night left much to be desired.

i will add that they compensated the misfire with a complimentary dessert, but i would have offered the missed order on the house. on both counts, food and service, poorly executed for a place i will skip for the next couple of months.

went there last nite with a group. the service was good but the food was not up to par. under seasoned and over priced. do not get the smoked olives, they could be one of the most awful things i have had at a restaurant. much of our food came out cold, which was a shock considering it was not terribly busy at the time.

overhyped. i get what they are doing....and it works, at times. but like corso 32, snobby, slow service. you get the feeling that they are doing you a favor by serving you. not cool.

sharing is caring. if you love sharing food with friends and feel awkward at every other restaurant - this place is great. food is brought out one item at a time. service is good. the place is tiny, so i'm glad we went early.

edmonton is lucky to have this place!. i love everything about three boars eatery!

the decor is simple, warm and trendy.

the i ate an amazing four course meal, with tip and a soda, for under $60. people, this place is not expensive; i would have paid twice that much and still left happy.

my food was shockingly good! i am a serious amateur cook and there was nothing even remotely disappointing in the items i chose; that has only happened a couple of times in the last five years or so for me.

smoked pork jowl (an appropriately small, exceedingly rich portion!)

patatas bravas with sriracha mayo (perfectly cooked and salted)

smoked quail with potato puree, creamed italian spinach, horseradish and brown butter. (beautifully prepared - finally a cook who understands the use of salt. yeah!)

i choose not to eat gluten, but after my three incredible courses, i had to try the dessert. that's about the biggest compliment this eater can give. the berry bread pudding with maple syrup, quince, bacon and poached pear was over-the-top delicious.

my server, jeff, was knowledgeable, unpretentious and friendly.

i'll be back whenever i am in town. support this amazing local eatery!

if you're looking for normal fare, this is out your place. i absolutely loved everything we ordered. people who said the portions were small clearly don't understand what tapas are in the true spanish style. (snacks to be shared, not entrées.) food was great and well seasoned. yes, it is pricey but it is a case of quality over quantity. i put it in the same range as blue pear for what 3 boars is trying to do (pub/tapas vs sit-down). we'll definitely return, when our wallets allow.

food was unique and fun. wonderful scotch and beer lists. service was horrible. unprofessional and rude. our server brought us our bill while we were still eating. had to wait with an empty drink every time. i will try it again in hopes of a better service experience

fantastic. stopped in for a quick bit and a drink. the place is cozy to say the least but i like everything about what they've done. the service was solid and knowledgeable and the food was fantastic.

while the drink list was ample and diverse, we opted in for a few of the uniquely flavoured soda's (fennigan's?). the menu apparently changes often but the boar jowel came highly recommended and lived up to the hype. the presentation was simple on a butcher block style cutting board that highlighted the main event. it was akin to the best bacon you've ever had and yet so different; it was sweet and smokey while slightly crisp on one edge yet melt in your mouth. the flavour wasn't greasy/fatty at all, which was surprising and the seeded dijon and pickled onion garnish kept things fresh.

we also had the elk and boar terrine and a root vegetable salad. both were amazing, though the terrine was a little tough (maybe dense is a better word). also, the baguette deserves note: it was tasty in its own right and so crunchy, yet didn't lacerate your gums. that's a good thing and something i've yet to see in edmonton. the portions weren't enormous, but nor did i expect them to be. three dishes shared however was more than enough for the two of us and left many more on the wishlist for next time... assuming they don't have something else as tantalizing available.

i'd easily recommend it to others and i look forward to returning.
