the troll pub under the bridge

i've eaten here twice. the beer cheese burger was decent but not good and the philly cheesesteak was meh. i do like theatmospherein the bar area, if i wanted to grab a drink in the waterfront area. however, i will not be coming back for the food.

cool concept, boring menu. i was really excited to try the troll pub. i had driven past it a few times and when a friend suggested we meet there for dinner/drinks, i was glad to try it.
theatmosphereis really cool. from the huge, castle looking door when you walk in, to the dim lights ...it's theme is apparent through the entire restaurant....except on the menu.
i did expect a pub menu, but something a little more interesting. the menu had way too many selections. i think narrowing them down and concentrating on making those items more intriguing would be better. i was thoroughly disappointed by the menu and the prices of the food. i know it's downtown, but 16 dollars for one bud light bottle, a club sandwich and chips that i could have made at home is a little ridiculous. i'll be back maybe for a drink (they're beer list was impressive) but i will eat elsewhere.

i walked down from my hotel which was several blocks away. it was dark but i felt very safe and never saw any problems around. i was by myself so i sat at the bar. it was a great baratmosphereas the cubs were playing in the world series. i was in the mood for a good hamburger. the bartender took my beer order then my food order. he was nice and a good server. my hamburger was wonderful and fries were good too. service time was good even with a crowd.i will go again when i am in the area.

great food and micro brews for anyone looking to eat before concert or event downtown. the only negative is their beer specials aren't honored during these "special events", nonetheless theatmosphereand location are superb!

great food for a pub, city prices on beer and cocktails. but theatmosphereis your basement hipster feel. casey, our bartender, was the focal point of the night. my guest is super picky with their drinks and he was patent with us and gave great suggestions. great location, a little difficult to find, but wonderful experience.

just went for drinks. theatmospherewas just what we were looking for. the waitstaff were friendly... beer was cold... hope to return soon for the food.

my family new we were headed to the louisville area so we hit urban spoon to find us a local restaurant to visit while were in town (family tradition). we all agreed, the troll under the bridge looked like a fun place to try. theatmospherewas spot on, we loved it!! the food was ok but in their defense it was during march madness & several home games had been played that week. the menu was basically empty so we only had a few choices. we all chose the beer cheese & pretzel rolls for appitizer & beer burger for dinner. we loved the appitizer but we were not so crazy about the burger. i think it was just beer cheese overload. i can't wait to try it again when the menu is full so we can have other choices.
another positive note is our service was very good.

if you were walking around downtown louisville, you would easily miss the bar hiding under the clark memorial bridge that leads to the north. except for the trolls. literally, peeking out from the underground bar, the goofy little mascots are a funny way to introduce you to the troll pub under the bridge. a dank little watering hole where locals love to go for pub food and a drink. the food here is good, and theatmosphereis perfect for the theme. it’s a funny place to see, and in fact, i think it’s overall a good experience.   the bar has a menu of your basic pub fare, with a ton of fried appetizers, pizzas, some steaks and pastas, fish and chips and more. the theme stays pretty close to your prototypical favorites, of course there are the burgers and sandwiches. i gave a try to the chicken salad sandwich, which is a pretty simple item, but the chicken salad is fresh, the chicken is real and large-cut pieces. the end result is a delicious sandwich with a bit of bacon that adds an element of saltiness to it. i love it, like many of the other bar food items, it has a simple charm. i have to mention a beer that is crafted specifically for this bar, termed the “card red.” it’s a light amber beer with a very simple flavor, a clean finish and not too heavy at all. it was perfect to try with the sandwich and i was a fan. if you happen to prefer one of the other brews, i might suggest one of the several dozen other beers, wines or bourbons on the menu. no matter your spirit, you’ll find a lot of different drinks to try. theatmospheredeserves mentioning. the restaurant reminds me a lot of an english pub concept, the dark interior has many recesses and small rooms where groups of folks go to congregate. mostly it’s good for small groups, though there is a central bar too. in all the spot seems to be popular both with the downtown lunch cr

awesome food. my wife and i stumbled upon the pub while looking for somewhere new to eat. we loved theatmosphereand the food was some of the best we have had in the area. the troll fries and beer cheese burger were a nice change. the only real issue was the service, while friendly there was a lack of attention, drinks empty and just a long wait for the server. over all we will go there again.

had a few decent experiences here, good food and goodatmospherebut the last two trips were less successful. the first, i called to see how late they were serving food and i was told until 11, weer arrived at 10 and was told the kitchen was closing up and we were turned away. decided to give it another try last night. the server was very friendly and pretty good, however the appetizer was ordered with no onions came out covered in onions (i have an allergy and can't pick them off). then my pasta that i ordered medium spicy came out with chives (once again, onion allergy). the appetizer didn't come out until the others were almost finished with their food, then my pasta came out, it was so hot my face was red and eyes watering. the server even said she tried it in the back and it was hotter than the "angry" level of hot (i ordered medium). she went to ask the manager for a coupon and they told her they were out. no manager visit, no discount, no taking the food off the bill that i couldn't eat. i don't think we will be returning. i hate it because i really liked the place.

nice atmosphere....food decent. theatmosphereis unique and a nice change from the ordinary. service is good. the food is decent and i cannot rave enough about the loaded kettle chips appetizer....wow and yum! nothing healthy about them, but i think the best way to describe them is "addicting"!!!
i haven't been back to the bar area, but it has a great vibe from what i can tell.

greatatmosphereand surprising good food for a bar type place. the service was great and the place was packed. taco salad had a great cilantro lime dressing that was good. also tried chicken salad sandwich and it was white chicken breast meat on great bread.

all around great!. theatmosphereis fun and inviting. the food is attractive to all ages. my son loves the pizza. my wife likes the beer cheese burger and i'm a fan of the breakfast burger. it has a familyatmosphereas well as a place to hang out for drinks with your friends. all around great place.

my wife and i stopped by this afternoon and were promptly seated by adrian. theatmosphereis perfect especially for the theme, and the pub is indeed tucked away near the base of the 2nd street bridge.
my wife had the shepherds pie, it was delicious and very authentic. i had the greek salad which was a very large serving with dressing on the side. both plates were beyond reproach, what a treat on a hot summer afternoon. adrian was friendly and attentive. we will definitley go back, especially when we catch a ball game at louisville slugger field, since the troll is up til 2 am!
