cool new place w/ good eats. saw a favorable review of tin table in the stranger and so thought i would try it out. we went on a sunday and the place was moderately filled with caphill hipsters. tin table has a great ambiance, keeping much of the feel of the old odd fellows hall but updated to give it a cool, contemporary look.
the wine list had good selections and the malbec i ordered was tasty. tin table has a good selection of cheeses and we ordered the cheese plate for an appitizer for $10.00. everything on the plate was yummy and the cheeses well paired with apples, honey walnuts and honey comb.
i ordered thai ribs and my partner ordered the burger and shoe string fries for entries. both were under $13.00. the food came quickly. the ribs weredelicious-- meaty, hot, spicy, and topped with cilantro. the burger, topped with bacon, was also a hit and the fries had a salty seasoning that made them extra tasty.
we ended our meal with a lemon pound cake and a french-press decaf coffee. the cake was the only dud of the night - too dry and heavy w/o enough tart lemon pop (though the coffee was excellent).
the other minor glitch was that our waitress was a little inattentive for my tastes. i felt that things could have moved along more quickly.
overall, we had a great meal and a great time at the tin table. i was suprised at how reasonable the prices seemed and we could easily have eaten well and spent a little less. we will definately go back.
