the sultan

never had middleeasterncuisine before. my fiance and i shared the mezza for two. honestly i could not tell you what was on it (much less try to spell it on a review) but it was absolutely delicious. definitely worth a shot if you're wanting something different.

amazing middleeasternfood!!. everything i've had here so far has been soooo amazing! the prices are reasonable and the quality of the food is above and beyond. there are plenty of tasty vegetarian items, too. i'm so thankful to have this here in athens!

best middleeasternfood in town. cannot say enough good word about the sultan. i'm not from middle east and have a very picky tastebud but the food at the sultan just pleases my tongue! i had chicken shawarma for the first time and decided that's the thing to die for :). then i tried falafel, lamb and beef sharwarma, salad, hummus... you name it. everything is wonderful!

the owner of the restaurant is such a gentleman. the service is awesome and every time when we were there the food got on our table super fast. if you live in athens, this is definitely a great restaurant that you don't want to miss.

excellent **** 4 star!. having lived in new york city, where middleeasternfood is plentiful i can honestly say that i am thrilled that athens ga has a restaurant with the quality me food the sultan serves!

i love nothing more than a good falafel and the sultan offers as good or better than i've had anywhere (maybe it's the mint). friendly service and reasonable prices.

mary- i've worked in food and beverage for 25 years. the very best restaurants make most of their food from scratch, per order and no great restaurant is 'fast' as in fast food. no offense, but for a small restaurant like the sultan, which only seats about 40, the biggest nightmare is to have a 'large birthday party' of customers who have never been to the establishment, arrive with no warning.

i can assure you that if you had gotten a menu and phoned in most of your order your party would have been served promptly and treated like....sultans!

i have no tie to this restaurant and don't even know the names of anyone who works there. still, i sincerely give the sultan 4 out of 5 stars!

i sure hope the sultan makes it because it is a jewel of a spot on the athens food scene.

great spot for middleeasternfare!. it's a quirky little spot, maybe it's just been the time of day i've been in, but both times my dining companion and i have been the only people in the restaurant.

this is a family owned restaurant, so it's quite laid back. they operate a small middleeasterngrocery and store in the same room, adding to the quirkiness.

the food, while not the most outstanding of the genre i've ever had, is very good. lunch is a great deal, and it's hardly ever crowded, as mentioned above. the pastries are awesome, be sure to try some!

give the sultan a try the next time you're looking for lunch or dinner near the mall area!

consistent and authentic. have gone here for years. right by mall . adore the chicken soup with nutmeg-y flavour and mushy rice, cery soothing. great kicky tabouli and fresh kabobs. heavenly hummus. staff great with my kids always and wonderful array of middleeasternpastries. nice little specialty store too, run by one sweet man who doesn't always have help, so be patient, its worth it! only thing is bottled icky dalad dressing so ask for simply oiive oil and lemon. (should come up with athens restaurant search but doesnt)
