it's always a blast to discover someplace new for food and drinks with friends. if you happen to be in downtown memphis the sillygooselounge is a swanky fun place within walking distance of beale street and the orpheum theater, as well as most anything else you'd want to do while hitting downtown in the bluff city...

brunch at the sillygoosein downtown memphis. i went to the brunch at the sillygoosethis weekend and it was fabulous! there is the build your own bloody mary bar and the mimosa's along with the bruch bar. the brunch inlcudes both breakfast and lunch items for folks who have been 'up for hours' or for the folks who 'just became coherent'. this weekend there was fruit, bagels, cakes, mashed potatoes, macaroni, green beens, gumbo, eggs, sausage, bacon, bbq chicken legs, and of course, made to order waffles! there were a lot of folks about to leave for home from the liberty bowl, happy little grizzly fans, and regulars from around downtown. i really loved the assortment, the waffle was great!!! as i understand, they will start opening for lunch soon!

flatbrad and panini - potato soup!!! sillygoosehas the best in memphis. first of all, i love potato soup....we have contests to see who can cook it best. the sillygoosein downtown memphis makes the best potato soup in the city. it is their own recipe.

no matter what i order, it comes out perfect. it is to a point to where i just tell them to bring me what they want to....surprise me. it is all good. the flatbreads are light are flavorful, the panini sandwhiches always come out with the perfect blend of flavors.

the staff is great and i always have the best time when i visit. i don't make it their often enough, wish i could....maybe i should move to the downtown area. lots of great places to go in downtown and this is one of the best.

in a word..awesome!. the sillygooseis always hopping. lively atmosphere with the right amount of laid back. you feel comfortable kicking around talking to new folks, catching up with old friends, or just a night to spend with your sweetie. the drinks, which there are many of, are excellent. the food is great and is served until late (try the hummus!). all in all, kudos to daniel masters (owner) for an awesome joint, worth the 3 hours drive!

the sillygooseisn't just the best bar downtown, it's the best bar in memphis! it's close to beale st. but the crowd and atmosphere are not. i have never had a bad time there, that's why it's the only bar i go to. well worth the trip if you live out east!

where to spend your staycation!. the sillygooseon peabody place in downtown memphis...my new staycation destination. it is like a manhattan lounge without the dress codes. it has televisions everywhere and computers located in their library for anyone to use. there is a laptop bar for folks who just can't get away from work. the selection of drinks behind the bar is huge. there is a section in the back with huge sofas for groups to gather. out on the patio there is a constant breeze from the river, very comfortable...and great for people watching! they have pub style menu that is light and delicious! i don't know how the magic happens but the crowd there is always fun, i meet a new friend there every time. thegooseis all about comfort and friends!

new downtown pub. this place is one of the most comfortable pubs i've been to in memphis. i have lived here for over a decade and have seen places come and go but it seems that " the goose" (as people call it) will be here for a long time. the owners, daniel masters and abram derosier, are friendly and engaging. this will quickly become your own personal "cheers" after a couple visits.

awesome!!!!!!!. i have lived in memphis for a long 51/2 years and i have never experienced anything like the silly goose. the food is great (tuscan chicken panini), the staff is friendly (tessie, katie, jamie, jason, abbe, laura, danny and all the other staff members that i didnt mention) the atmosphare is relaxed and comfortable and the beer and cocktails are always served cold and with a smile. it does not take long before the staff is calling you by name and they remember your poisin. i have been to the sillygoosealmost every night since it opened and you will usualy find me sitting at the bar with a miller lite, or sitting at one of their computers or just getting a quick game of wii bolling in before i take off for the night. i always feel welcome at thegooseand it is hard to go anywere else.

not silly. for the short time the sillygoosehas been opened i have noticed the following increasing each visit. poor and very slow service at lunch. inconsistant food. one day the sandwich is great - high quality food the next it taste like it was purchased from the discount meat section in a grocery store. staff is usually busy carrying on at the bar on a lap top, smoking or eating. customers seem to be a bother. what a shame...with the high rate of closures in the restaurant business especially down town you would think they would do what it took to stay afloat.

life without swig. that's excactly what daniel and abraham have given the neighborhood.

thank god these men have vision.

note: as always, i have no vested interest in this venture. i'm just a guy from the neighborhood.

this place is a welcome addition to the downtown scene. unlike its predecessor, the sillygooseis a warm, cozy, kick back and relax place. after a long day, what else could you ask for?

selection?

if there is a more impressive selection of fine liquors in a bar, i haven't seen or heard of it.

stressed out?

this is the place to unwind after a long day at the office, the place to meet with your friends before an orpheum or fedex forum event, or get some quality face time with your best girl/guy.

food?

the flatbreads on the menu are both delicious and go well with the too numerous to count drinks available. the menu is limited, but really solid.

sports?

thee well placed televisions make watching the big game easy. since opening, they have always opened early so the downtowners can come in and watch the tiger games. us downtowners appreciate that sort of service.

how about some lunch and a place to get a bit of e-work done?

in addition to having wifi available, there are two general use computers set up for customer use.

need to get away for a bit?

tired of the internet and computers from work? select one of the many novels from the library shelves, grab a piece of the sofa, and relax.

you'll be gald you did.

i highly recommend the silly goose. this place is so friendly you'll want to come back over and over again.

stop in after work and relax. you deserve it, and the sillygoosewill ensure it.
