omg!!!! the food was amazing!!!! the sandwiches were enormous!! the desserts were out of this world. please go and eat there. you won't be disappointed!!

this is the stuff full stomach's are made of.... had a wonderful breakfast here this morning. the line wasn't to long and our advance party had just been seated when we arrived. our waitress megan hooked us right up with or drinks and came back a few moments later for the order.

going outside my box i went for the turkey & brown gravy knish... when it arrived all i can say is, there's no way i'm going to finish that. then i turned them into liars. i did finish it... i won't be having dinner tonight as that thing filled me for the entire day, but oh was it so good. other items on the table included steak & egg meals and a pastrami knish. all in all everyone left either thanksgiving full or very close to it. another excellent experience.

the biggest meal you won't finish in one sitting. i'm talking about route 58. even their slogan says "if you finish your meal we're doing something wrong". it's so true. i've had many a meal here, this review is from a brunch a couple of sundays back. there were six of us total and we able to secure the kibitz room in the back.

if you have never dined here you're going to be in for a bit of a shock. the portions are insanely huge and i think it's probably best to say that each meal is really 2, maybe 3 meals depending on your personal appetite and eating habits. the restaurant has a very cozy feel to it. the walls are lined with retro style pictures of old diners up north and entertainers from days gone by. the room we were sitting in for example was full of pictures of the rat pack.

one of the things route 58 is know for is their home made corned beef. my order on this visit was the 'almost famous hash omelette. this included a 4 egg omelette filled with pastrami, potatoes and onions, then topped with corned beef. on the side i added 2 potato pancakes, basically they're hash brown patties. i was able to eat just less than half of this monster.

other meals at the table included the corned beef hash meal which was so big it looked like a meat loaf. two knishes and a dish called 'oscar's garbage bowl' which was turkey and grilled onions with crinkle fries and covered with gravy, there was some rye bread at the bottom of it as well.

i could go on and on here but it's already been covered by other reviews.

i'm just going to say that every one of us took a box home. :)

it's hard figuring out what to even get here every time i visit. yes, the menu is a bit cluttered, but that's not the problem. there's just way too many good things to choose from. the pastrami is hot and sliced fresh to order, so it's always a good choice, but they also have one of my favorite cheesesteaks in the form of a massive one on a garlic-buttered roll that is awesome.

the fries they serve are some of the best i've had. crinkle-cut and never greasy, they're an excellent addition to any meal that they don't come with and in the form of gravy fries, they're great for a group too.

the breakfast items are also quite good, but the french toast is tops in my book from the list. made with cream soda and using challah bread, it is a huge portion that is just perfectly sweet and warm.

portion-wise, you'll never leave hungry. yes, they may charge slightly more than places with similar items on the menu, but the increase in quality and size easily makes up for the disparity. everything can easily be shared if you're out with others.

this is easily one place i look forward to going to every time i have a chance to visit. one of the bests in the region.

just go ahead and smack your mom in advance. this place is "smack your mama" good. the prices are high, but the portions are higher. jeff (you'll get to know him after a couple of visits) is running a top-notch place. i've eaten the rueben, hot dogs, cheese cake, potato salad, well you get it. they are all good in the ny deli tradition.

great food! in spite of that i'm not going back. family of 4 cost over $90. that's for 4 admittedly large sandwiches. they're good but not that good.

best reuben ever. if you are a fan of the reuben, as i am, you must go to route 58 deli. i used to make sandwiches for a living and thought i made a mean reuben. this one takes the cake. and speaking of cake, i heard they have the best cheesecake as well. that i'll have to try on my next visit.

good reviews. some of the reviews are hilarious for this restaurant but they are spot on. went here based on them. pretty big portions and was very tasty. service was a little average but all in all it was okay. food made up for the little short comings. try it out.

so full so good. mmmm.... pastrami, mmmmmm... roast beef, mmmmm... everything!! huge portions and great staff. service was awesome and the quality was amazing. you will leave with left overs, but that is okay because my roast beef was just as tasty later. jeff the owner is a great guy and this place rocks. cost is more than most so don't expect to get off cheap, however you totally get what you pay for.
