best authenticbbqin tucson and i'm abbqjunkie. the food is the same, the location is different. i've had the sliced beef sandwich (you'll need a fork) about 2 dozen times and the hot link sandwich quite a few times. i've even had a mixed hot-link and beef custom sandwich. those 2 items are so good i haven't even dreamed of ordering anything else. the sauce is perfection in a bottle. the sides are all great, so just order what you want. the kool-aid is an awesome touch and a great way to wash down a sandwich. the guys running the place are down to earth, nice guys. locally owned and operated, no frills bbq. go there.

disgusting!. my son & i were terribly disappointed. i was expecting to bite into a delicious pulled chicken sandwich like i've enjoyed at famous dave's. we both couldn't stand the chicken after only 1 bite. something is terribly wrong: thebbqsauce or the way it's cooked. the potato salad, steak fries and candied yams were ordinary. what a wasted $24 for 2 meals!

not impressed & too expensive. we at and mr. k'sbbqon stone. we are a family of 4. we ordered 2 of the 2 meat platter for the 4 of us to share and spent almost $40. if each of us had purchased our own meal, it would have be $70 - $80 meal. no kids menu! i could not believe that for the price we were not given plates (eating out of the paper the meat was wrapped in), and plastic forks. as for the food, we found it dry and unseasoned, even w/ extrabbqsauce on the table where the sauce was watery and also lacked flavor. if you are on a budget, i do not recommend this restaurant... if you want food that tastes as good or better than what you can cook yourself at home, i do not recommend this restaurant.

great food and price!. this was our first visit to mr. k's. i had the turkey sandwich with fried okra. my wife had the two meat plate with greens, mac & cheese, ribs and chopped brisket. everything was fresh and the meats had a great smoked flavor. unlike other localbbqjoints the protiens were not over seasoned or dry. the greens were a little peppery for my wife amd could of used some chicken stock. over all though this was agreat meal. the mac & cheese had to be some of the best we have had. my sandwich was huge! lots of moist well seasoned turkey. the ribs came off the bone as they should and the dry rub was just right. not to much and not to little. mr. k's is a great value with more than ample portions. the rest of thebbqplaces in town better get on there game or wave goodbye. for now for my money it's going to be mr. k's for the que.

by far the best ribs!!. wow.....their ribs are smoked and slathered to perfection! thebbqis so good and strong that it has my fingers smelling like ribs for 2 days!! the staff is always nice and professional. prices are decent and menu options are pretty fair.

although the location is not in the "preferred" or "prime area" it makes it that much better of a tucson hidden gem. i wish they would open up a bigger restaurant. seating isn't the best....but their baked beans and sweet tea are!!

overall review- forget chili's and applebee's, you haven't tasted real soulbbquntil you come here!!

first time will go back. being a student at the u of a i have tried a limited amount ofbbqin tucson. of course i hit up brushfire which was close to campus, but after taking a look into the back of the kitchen and seeing no smoker, pit, or even a barbecue grill for that matter. to say the least i was less then impressed. i consider mybbqexperience vast considering i hail from the great state of alabama. mr. k's gets a thumbs up of approval because like all realbbqspots you can smell it from down the street. i went with a buddy of mine and i ordered the pork plate, specifically the outside meat charred with collar/turnip greens and fries came with a homemade cornmuffin wrapped in foil. the greens had small pieces of bacon in it and reminded me of some places from home. the fries were like seasoned fries, reminded me of rally's if anyone knows of it i did read online the sauce is real peppery which is true, but i appreciated the flavors which i can compare to being like a blackened taste one might find on cajun chicken and fish. consequently i had mine on the side and enjoyed it enough to dip my fries into.

it was around 2 so the place was empty, mr. k himself offered to show me thebbqhe was working with. and let me tell you this thing was a beast. he said that he had bought it from the el pasobbqcompany, some chain restaurant here so the fire he's cooking with is definitely legit. like i said i had the pork and my friend had the ribs. we both decided we would try the brisket next time. i found out mr. ks is a texas stylebbqwhich is known for their brisket. while admiring the smoker mr. k offereed a fresh burnt end for me of the brisket and it was delicious.

in conclusion i'd give mr. k's a 84 or 85 on a nationalbbqscale but in tucson that jumps up to around a 90 and worthy of a weeklybbqfix.

bestbbqin tucson. realbbqevidenced by the tell-tale pink smoke ring inside the meat. the beef brisket is thinly sliced, moist and smokey, even without any sauce. the ribs fall of the bone yet have a dark sweet chewy outside. i'm drooling while writing this. i have been to most all tucsonbbqplaces, imho this one has the smokiest tasting meat, not overwhelming, but subtle. they don't rely on their sauce for thebbqtaste, it's already in the meat. mmmmmm!

the best in tucson!!!. mr. k's is the bestbbqin tucson, bar none! it would do well anywhere in the nation; their brisket, ribs, chicken and sides are amazing. the sauce is delicious, and the peach cobbler is to die for. i'm from arkansas originally, and this is a little slice of southern heaven!!!
