continuing my exploration of restaurants for pre-show meals in the south granville area, i decided to check out the marquis grill before seeing the great divorce at pacific theatre. as it turned out, there was a canucks game on that evening and the place was jam-packed with hockey fans. when i called for a reservation i was told there was a room at the back away from the tv screens that would be a bit quieter. on arrival we were shown to a comfortable booth in the far side of the restaurant away from the bar area. we could still see the screens and it was pretty noisy but that was fine. when my companion commented that this was hardly away from the game screens, i had to confess that i did not mind keeping up with the action and i actually have an canucks app on my phone that updates the results when a goal is scored. tags dining review marquis grill vancouver restaurant review read more

lamb. my husband and i went to the marquis for our 10th anniversary and had a fantastic time! the bartender actually went out and bought us our requested bottle of wine that wasn't in their inventory. we had the lamb, which was one of the best meals i've personally ever had. the service and atmosphere were amazing. definitely will be coming back!!

tapas, drinks, tapas, drinks!!. a few gf's and i went to check out the marquis on the weekend (heard about the cheap drinks!!) so much fun!! true to what we had heard, they had lots of cheap drinks.....they also had tonnes of small plates (very reasonably priced) which was perfect for us, we were able to order and share lots of food! the marquis is definitely going to become a 'girls night destination for us!

great time!. i went to the marquis recently with a group of friends and we had an awesome time. there was a dj keeping the atmosphere hyped up, the room is gorgeous, and the drinks were so cheap. $3 coronas=awesome! they even serve food all night. we got a bunch of $5 appies at like 1:30am and they were really tasty. i'll definitely be going back.

delicious!!!!!!!!!. i have been going to the marquis for quite awhile and must say that it is such a great atmosphere for all types.the food is amazing,seductive,and very well priced.the owner always greats me when i walk in,such a kind,warm hearted man! the bartenders are always fun and social,and the servers always have a moment! i would totally recommend everyone go and try it!

they need help!. i have been to this restaurant on several occasions and when it first opened it was hit or miss, then it did get a lot better. however, in the past few months it has taken a turn for the worse. the service has gotten a lot slower. my friends and i ordered drinks and we saw the server put them through to the bar tender and he picked up the order, looked at it, and continued to talk to the people at the bar instead of making our drinks. the server was waiting at the bar for the drinks as well. i was not impressed by this at all, and clearly the server wasn't either. the food was okay, we ordered a few different things. i ordered the burger, which i have ordered before and it was nowhere near as good as it once was. it was bland and tasteless, they must have changed the recipe. my friend ordered the seafood fettucini and it was also bland and tasteless. she has ordered it previously as well. we were very disappointed with the downturn of the marquis, it used to be great place to hang out, the staff were great, drinks and food were good. they have new staff, but they are not as personal and chatty as the others were. this could be a good and bad thing. many times i have gone in and it would be only one or two tables including myself. hopefully things pick up for them because at this rate it is not going well. i don't see them being open for very much longer.

a slow death? this place started out great! the food was way better when they just opened, service was faster and there were more than two people in the place. now it's not uncommon for there to be more staff than customers. the food has taken a turn for the worse, i've stopped telling people to go there and wouldn't return my self. the service was always not rushed but now it just seems they try to just avoid you so you'll leave with out ordering. it's a shame they seem to have given up. don't go, save your evening and visit a place that doesn't have a lingering smell of failure in the air.

not the best!. ate at this restaurant last week. four of us had the salmon and scallops. it was overcooked and rubbery - a great disappointment. the waiter was pleasant but the service was slow - it took apprximately 45 minutes for our meal to arrive after ordering.

would not return to this restaurant.
