if you are out in the eastern burbs this is a fantastic place for brunch. with a group of eight we managed to get through most items on the menu, and all were excellent, especially the standards.

relaxed and friendly staff, good value, easy parking, i'll be back for diner soon.

favorite place in wellington for brunch! excellent setting and i just love the savory french toast. service has never been an issue and while i agreed its pricey, i've never felt it isn't worth the occasional treat. well worth the trip across town, especially with visiting friends or family in tow!

we came to the larder for a nice lunch on a very miserable day. we got the perfect seat right by the fire place, very delightful. we shared a very nice savory muffin between us, just to get our appetites started. our meals were the croque madame and the goats cheese souffle. i was a little disappointed in the souffle, but i think that was a bad menu choice on my part. cannot fault much at this place and will surely be back to enjoy dinner here asap. really want to try the duck and something off your dessert menu!

this restaurant was recommended to me my a colleague, so us three flatmates from the city went out to the 'burbs to try it out.
it was perfect.
warm, relaxed environment with lovely staff.
we were given excellent advice for the wine to compliment our food, as well as a wee cup of luke warm soup (i'm guessing that was on purpose - still yum anyway...) and bread to start. myself and one other ordered the duck confit, which was superb, while number three chose the beef wagyu - she mentioned that it was the best steak she's ever had. broccoli and roasted pumpkin on the side to share.
dessert was the spanish creme brulee all round. delicious.
will definitely be back!

we love the larder! my husband and i moved to miramar just before the larder opened and have been going ever since. jacob and sarah are friendly and inviting and the food is delicious! i take friends and family whenever i get the chance and they love it too. we don't bother to go across town for brunch or a special night out - we have a fantastic place on our back door that we intend to make the most of!

third time we've visited the larder in under a month. just moved to wellington from auckland, and working our way around the best cafes in town - but this one stands out - so much so, we drive 25 minutes (huge by welly standards!) to eat here. lovely service, and a really innovative breakfast/brunch menu. the buttermilk crepes with rhubarb & lemon yoghurt are superb, croque madame really delicious and the portobello mushrooms are a standout. coffee also great and the cabinet baking looks fabulous. these people really know what they're doing, and they're doing it beautifully.

i would eat here for dinner anytime - after several visits i am very pleased with the quality of the food and service. you need to book in advance, as i have been disappointed several times trying to get a table at the last minute. this is well worth the trip to the eastern suburbs for those from a bit further away. can be very busy at times and there are delays with meals, but i don't mind the wait - chill out and have another glass of wine!!

the larder is a welcome addition to the growing cafe scene in the eastern suburbs, with elegant, chic decor. being able to sit outside on a sunny day with pretty flower arrangements on the tables was a bonus. the menu and modest selection of counter food (sandwiches and appealing pastries) are a tad pricey, but my coffee (supreme) was well made. the overall service was efficient and pleasant. i would be keen to dine here again, perhaps sampling their evening menu next time.

i'd really love to say this place is fantastic, as i'm all for local great cafes, but the service was so appalling and slow that i'd be lying! in fact despite having a reservation our table was given away to someone else while we had a drink outside in the sun, as we had been invited to, so we had to wait over an hour to get our table. the amuse bouche, while very tasty, was lukewarm, and we didn't receive our mains till 10pm, even though our booking was for 7.30pm. the vegetarian main was not good at all, although all the meaty mains were very good. there was no apology at all for the wait, and the tables were so close together that the wait staff repeatedly banged into me from behind, again with no apology. would definitely stick to the fantastic cafe just along the road. won't be going back :(
