disappointed. i was very excited to finally try out this restaurant. the menu is full of great flavor combinations and unique items. it was very busy when i showed up which, is a good sign but the staff was very rude. i didn't think much of it because they were busy. the food was up quick but i think i would have rather them take some more time to have a better product. i got the hella fitzgerald add egg. everything was very bland. the red eye gravy tasted like water, the fried chicken was not seasoned at all. the breading was nice and crispy but flavorless. and seriously if the word "biscuit" is in your name, you should nail the biscuit!! thebiscuittasted like cardboard. i hope they were just having an off day. i won't be coming back.

very creative and delicious take on the chicken biscuit. each chickenbiscuitis pretty large and will be very filling. it’s a hearty piece of fried chicken with great toppings on delicious biscuit.

one of the best biscuits i've ever had!

i stopped in on saturday morning and enjoyed sitting outside on the patio while chowing down on the hella fitzgerald - abiscuitsandwich with fried chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese and sausage gravy. it was a tough decision as the stevie and a.c. slawter also looked delicious.

the chicken had an excellent crunch and it went perfectly with the melted cheese and sausage gravy, which added some nice spice and creaminess.

i was a little skeptical about handsomebiscuitonly using sweet potato biscuits for its sandwiches, but i thought it was fantastic. it offered a mildly sweet flavor and was lighter than the traditional biscuits that can become too dry or doughy.

if i were a norfolk local, this is a spot i would frequent regularly.

more than handsome. this tiny eatery packs a wallop with itsbiscuitentrees. their biscuits are yellow (from the sweet potato) and not salty which is a lot different from the biscuits i've had at other restaurants. if you want coffee, you'll to go with their singular brewed coffee. otherwise just go to starbucks before delving into their treasure trove of goodness. be prepared to stand and wait for your order if you arrive after 8:30 am.

i highly recommend this eatery.

hella fitzgerald biscuit. quaint little place, make a friend easily over a messybiscuitof goodness. delish

i looked at the menu online and was excited to eat here. found they don't have egg or cheese subitutes, so i ordered abiscuitand hash towns.my daughter got a pb&j and my husband got the hella fitzgerald. i took one bite of each and set it down. i don't find me a hard person to please but was very disappointed. my daughter wouldn't eat her "hard" biscuit. and my poor husband was so hungry, he ate some of his food. being disappointed, i walked back up to the counter where i was offered my money back by a very rude man. it wasn't about the $20, i spent on 3 biscuits that didn't get ate, but more about solving and correcting the problems so i could be happier in the future. with the rude costumer service,(after i tipped him), i was left with a bitter taste in my mouth and will now not be returning.

ok but won't return. this place was so hyped that we had to try it. well, it was ok at best. thebiscuitis sort of bland and the fixings were ok at best. the price point is a bit high. you are better off at chick-fil-e.

the ella fitzgerald and the bleu blazer. the sandwiches here are generous sized. the ella fitzgerald ($6.50)biscuitsandwich contains boneless fried chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese and red gravy. i highly recommend ordering a side hot sauce to go with this beauty. the hot sauce is great, the sweetness from the honey and the spiciness from the garlic and red pepper paste worked well together. could this sandwich be anymore indulgent?! seriously amazingly good stuff.

unimpressed -- doesn't live up to the hype. pros:
-the apple coleslaw served with the ac slawter might be the best slaw i've ever had.
-my husband had the mr. close love & really enjoyed it.
-the sweet potatobiscuititself is pretty tasty.

cons:
-parking sucks.
-cramped & sweltering hot inside.
-the pulled pork on the ac slawter was barely above room temperature & lacked flavor.
-no decaf coffee. wth? i'm pregnant so i don't drink much caffeine at all -- i was pretty irritated at this.
-hipster vibe. so annoying. enough said.

its okay.... recomended by a friend, i checked it out 1030ish on a fri.
the good:
- staff very friendly, appreciative of the business and tipping
- got comped a cookie for waiting a bit... that's good business!
- hashbrowns tasty
the just okay:
- a little too hipstery for my taste (like your in the castro, not park place orf). music several decibels above normal.
- cramped... but no bother if you're taking out.
-biscuitwas just okay
the why-i'll-probably-just-keep-going-to-yorgo's mostly:
- seemed a little pricey: $7+ for hashbrowns and egg/cheese biscuit
- won't scramble your egg, oddly
- not many veg options if you're so inclined
- a little slow when backed up, bring reading material
but .. good change of pace if you want something different and have time to wait. i hope they do well.

so hip. maybe a litte too hip. but the food is amazing! the menu is comprised of about 10biscuitsandwiches made with sweet potato biscuits (so fraking delicious) and a few sides. my boyfriend got the hella fitzgerald... i was very jealous. the fried chicken tasted as if my grandmother had just taken it off the stove, it was drool worthy. the coffee (although they say they get their beans from cafe stella, where i get mine) was no good, make it stronger! i got the dill na na which was a potato and onion frittata with arugula and dill mayo. it was very tastey and i reccomend it if you're not in the mood for the original greasy breakfast. the handsomebiscuitis great, the only thing is that they are tiny tiny! please grow!

the food is not good enough to make up for how rude the staff is. after deciding to wait in this tiny cramped space regardless of the line, i asked if there was a restroom. with a smirk the cashier replied, "yeah down the hall and to the left", there being no hall of course. i much prefer my food without a side of condescension, and therefore will never give my business to the handsomebiscuitagain.

biscuits all day long!. the handsomebiscuitis a new restaurant that has opened in ghent and is owned by the former owners of the boot. you can find them on the corner of colonial and 26th st.

some co-workers and i just had lunch here and have to say it was outstanding. i had the hella fitzgeraldbiscuitwhich is has fried chicken breast with bacon, cheddar and a sausage red eye gravy (with a hint of maple). thebiscuitis stacked high but is certainly manageable to just about any hand size. on the side i also tried the hash brown krisp with onion & pepper. outstanding!

one other thing i want to point out is they have a house pineapple / cranberry soda. i didn't try it myself but one of my co-workers did and said "it's insane". so i take it he liked it. i included a picture of it as well.

the place was packed when we arrived and has a very small dining area. i wouldn't bring kids during lunch rush, but it's fine after. currently the hours are 10am to 2pm wed through sat. and hopefully those will expand soon. so what are you waiting for? go! go now!
