really disappointed about it. we ordered some main dishes, but it spend us one and half hour to wait it. and also, we order a plant of the oyster and sashimi and it come after one hour and fourty minutes. please improve it and get the worth of the high score in zomato.

reasonably awkward venue to get to, walking through a tourist bureau. once you arrive, you certainly do a lovely room with a great aspect looking over the water. staff attentive and food was great. a non locals venue lacking a little soul, yet worth a look.

came here dinner on our visit to hobart. very expensive so i had very high expectations. views weren’t that great. you can get the same view by visiting any other restaurant around the docks. the taste of the food was average. the pork belly was very dry. beef cheeks were good, soft and very tender. my favourite dish was probably the caramelised apples. for the price i paid and quality/quantity of food received, i’m giving it a 3 star.

nice place. very recommend for a try when you travel to hobart. the price is reasonable. small portion of food on each dish though. try to book a window view table, that will make your meal time more enjoyable.👍👍👍👍

5 ⭐️ location: great location and magnificent view of the water and being incorporated as part of an engrossing architecture. as well a good spot for a night out with an array of bars and restaurants nearby on the pier precinct.

we were “lucky” to land 8.30 pm seating the “last booking” at hottest spot in hobart. we arrived on time as instructed but found ourselves cordoned on waiting couches for 15 minutes before being ushered to our table. looking around there appear to be only stragglers ravishing on desserts.

2⭐️ service: when seated all the questions were directed at my partner as if i wasn’t worthy to be there. the water came quickly followed by the menu some 10 minutes later and it was evident by now the venue staff had no rhythm.

after twenty minutes we had to wave to order two glasses of red wine. we were also decided on our dishes and ready to order, but the waitress took off without any follow up, which was service in very bad form. the night was getting long in the tooth and was very suspicious when another waitress took our orders without writing. i was expecting more disasters, and further disasters in the worst form did follow. we’ll leave it at that.

4.5⭐️ dishes: the owners of the glass house have been let down by the service staff as the dishes were distinctive, exquisite and we enjoyed it so much that the very bad service was all forgotten.

as i entered in the restaurant the waitress was more interested in the ipad than welcoming new customers or hearing the head chef calling her. anyway, once she acknowledge my presence i asked if there was a table to have dinner, she said:"yes, if you want to go to the bar i will come with the menu". she ignored me for 30 min after that, when i saw her taking a menu to a couple that just arrived, i stopped another waitress and ask if i could order food and she gave me immediately a menu. unfortunately the first waitress came to grab my order, i asked the "feed me option $75pp" and she said she had to speak with the chef. when she came back she told me the feed me option was for a minimum of 2 people, thing never written in the menu. so after 45 mins waiting i changed the restaurant because i don't want to give one more dollar to those people.

this is my first visit and it was memorable for many reasons primarily the location and the food, which was good too. the selection of wines was good centered around tasmanian (and why not). the ambience was good too. the service although efficient was lacking warmth and connection. however it is a good place to visit. somewhat expensive but that depends on how much food and drink you consume.

floating at the end of the pier, the 280c view is fabulous! from the architecture to furniture, all are thoroughly planned. to top this up, the food were created with fine local produce. nothing beat having a relaxing time at the waterfront together with a delicious meal.

oh my goodness, the degustation menu was massive! i’m on the side of being a big eater for my size in melbourne but oh boy i was rolling myself out from the glass house after dinner.

i was here for work one night and thought, how much food could a $75 degustation menu be..? they were so nice to let me have the menu on my own despite the little writing that said “2 guests minimum”. after i managed to pull myself up from my table, i went to ask the lady at the cashier - were they mistaken and served me with two servings of everything...?? she said no, there had not been any mistakes. wow!

the food was absolutely amazing, and the surroundings surreal. my only wish was that i could’ve shared it with one more person as i could not finish my dishes from the beef dish onwards. the portions were much larger than it looks in the photos - the beef, for example, was a substantial main dish by melbourne standards with about 300gm of meat hiding under the vegetables.

would definitely be back next time for the a la cartel menu!

visited the glass house during my stay in hobart and can only say positive things about this place!
we ordered items off the menu rather than the chefs recommendations as we weren’t too hungry!
we ordered the scottsdale pork, wild hare, yellowtail kingfish and the potatoes for the mains and for the desserts we orders the triple cream brie and the parfait.
the food was served in such a timely/progressive manner, which allowed us to enjoy the food at our own pace and be prepared for the next dish.
all the dishes were absolutely exquisite and we enjoyed the dining experience thoroughly!
the service at the glass house was also exceptional!
i would definitely recommend to anyone visiting hobart! 🙂

we had an amazing spot looking over the water, staff were very attentive and accommodating. we went for the chefs plate, 70pp. the food was great, especially the first half of course, which was mostly seafood, followed by some delicious pork belly. the rest of the dishes were good, but didn’t blow us away. would definitely come back again, maybe at lunch next time to see the beautiful views.

rate for the view but not the food, and the service is really normal to bad. i review ins &zomato and already decide what to order, but they offer me the wrong dish even i show the pic to the manager and get his confirmation, more ridiculous is they charge me wrongly on this dish until i figure out the price is doubled that on menu. wrong dish wrong bill, the male manager just said sorry without really feel sorry. during the meal, i ask tomato sauce and tabasco, but the apathy waitress give the smoky one which totally destroy the taste of oyster, and they don't have tomato sauce. i drive all the way from launceston, this is the poorest service i ever experienced. btw, their choice is very limited only to bar food. so if you want the drink and view, it's ok; if for food, i will say no. there are so many great choices of food in tas. hope it helps and hope they can improve.

originally had 4.5 rating but looking back, i remember how surreal the experience was. just being able to be seated by the windows and having that amazing view. decor and interior of the restaurant definitely enhanced the experience. set menu was definitely affordable and surprisngly filling. enjoyed the twist on the oysters, pork belly and the tomatoes. the main dish of potatoes and lamb was very generous. food overall, didn't blow me away but the experience did.

our experience at the glass house was very positive, with excellent food and views, but inattentive service (hence the 4 star review).

we dined at about 2pm on good friday, with the restaurant being pleasantly quiet. we were seated at the windows, with full complement of the lovely view and opted for the two-course weekday lunch menu.

the food was excellent. i’m a seafood lover, so i especially appreciated the oyster entree and poke bowl main - it was so fresh! my partner enjoyed the lamb for main and commented that it was one of the best meals he’s ever eaten.

as for the service; though friendly, it was inattentive. it took almost an hour for our mains to come out, in a restaurant with only 5 tables occupied. when the mains arrived my partner ordered a glass of shiraz to accompany his lamb. he had to ask twice and was more than half way through his dish when the wine arrived.

finally, we ordered the cheque and noticed we’d been charged for 5 x set lunches, rather than two. a relatively minor error, but not one that should occur in a restaurant like this.

ultimately i would dine there again - the food was brilliant, the views delightful and the service friendly (if inattentive).
