this is my go toplacefor a great dinner and evening. i have been here many times for several occasions and i have been pleasantly surprised each time. the service is classical european so don't expect to be in and out. totally worth the price and great for a "chain".

upscale, fine service, good food. deep wood, wonderful wine choices, good, attentive service. try the shellfish platter - a wonderful presentation and nice way to begin (after ordering cocktails). for entree i enjoyed the dry aged sirloin - but oh my, very large portion...along with the salad and sharing more appetizers with our guests.......we really dined.....and enjoyed it. food is a bit pricey - but a niceplacefor a romantic dinner or special group function. have also enjoyed the capital grille in d.c. - and it met my expectations - yes, a chain - but done quite well and uniform in quality. too - if you bring a camera our server took the photo of us and our guests and then made two photos and brought us two "capital grille" frames in which to put the photos in. nice touch........

wow wow wow! thisplaceis pricey but totally worth it. the mozzarella balsamic salad was incredible (they make the buffalo mozzarella in-house every day!). in terms of mains, their steak is one of the best we have ever had - cooked to perfection. we also had the snapper special and it was phenomenal, all the flavours were on point. service was really good too :) would love to come back but we are leaving houston tomorrow :( beautiful beautiful beautiful!

really good food and the service was decent. ordered the fresh lemonade and it was delicious. we had two sandwiches and both were really tasty, they just didn't really stand out compared to other lunch sandwiches at other restaurants. i don't know, maybe i just needed to try something else and that would have done it for me. the side of fries were great though, i think those might have been the best i have had. i would go back and eat again. for lunch at aplacelike this, prices were not bad at all.

greatplacefor a date night, birthday or other celebration. i usually visit for their generous pour event because the wine is a great deal in addition to the meal. not being a huge meat eater i usually opt for wine, brussle sprouts and calamari. the bread basket is great too!

they do sweet things like give dessert on the house for special occasions. that's always sweet.

make sure to make reservations as theplacecan get rather crowded.

greatplaceto eat before heading to the theater!. the capital grille had a wonderful menu. we did not have one thing off the menu that did not meat or exceed expectations. we will be sure to make our reservation at the capital grille the next time we are off to the theater.

lunch today. haven't been back in a while. i guess i need to stop trying to like this place. zero service! why would you assign a sever to a group of 3, us and a large group at same time. never saw him after taking order, never got bread, etc etc. yet still they remain arrogant. btw food was average. i'll just stick with plaza iii. i done.

not worth it. we had slow service, had to ask for everything, had to send steak back, plus when it was right, no flavor. did not get anything reduced from bill as well. too over priced for this. i have eaten here for the last time. it seemed that each time the food became more average. and service was as if they were doing you a favor. this is after i used to think it was the best steakplacein town! sad! i guess i'll stay with plaza iii.

quite possibly the best. my wife and i were greeted by name at the door by none other than allen witcher the managing partner.
we of course had reservations, but we did not expected to be treated like celebrities. after being seated by the hostess, allen came to our table with a couple of glasses of champagne and introduced our waiter.
the rest of the dinner including the service was outstanding. my wife enjoyed just a part of her two pound lobster. while i enjoyed an excellent steak.
if your looking for a classyplaceto impress your date, this is the place.
allen we can't thank you and your staff enough. best wishes jim and kim green

booo. it was always fun to get dressed up and travel to the capital grille for a fun night out. the decor is special, the drinks are masculine and the attitude is east coast. we love it. the last two times have been so dissappointing. the greeting was not friendly. there is a fine line between being professional upscale and over reaching. i expect thisplaceto know the difference. the crowd was a bit different that i expect. i know theplacecan't control who dines here, but i think this suggests something has changed. the soup was awesome as always. wow. the steak was not properly cooked and the shrimp was luke warm. something was off. very off. i asked to see the manager but after waiting ten minutes we paid our tab and exited. i hope this was just a bad moment, but my intuition tells me it is something more. parking is valet or the downtown lots. travel in pairs as the downtown area is sketchy at night.

lets be realistic. while the midwest might be known for its meat production, capital grille is known for its steak. there isn't anyplacebetter in my opinion.

the calamari with spicy peppers and crab & lobster cakes have been a staple in my diet since i was 7. and for the past 19 years, i've been back again and again to celebrate all kinds of fun at the grille and will for many years to come.

don't want to spend a ton? sit in the great lounge area that the kansas city capital grille has to offer. that and a glass of wine off their list is almost sure to make a after work event stunning.

worth the visit. now, yes, the $$$$ tag is warranted. no, it is not theplacefor a quick meal. yes, reservations are, in most cases, absolutely necessary. that said,we have eaten here twice, both times unannouced, and classyplacethat it is, they were able to accommodate us, which we appreciated very much.

the restaurant is very close to the newseum, the incredibly fascinating news museum on pennsylvania avenue, nw, where everyone should visit at least once. i am sure that, if we knew who some of the other diners were, we would have been in awe. it is, obviously one of the favorite elite watering holes and deal-making places in the city.you can spend a lot of money very quickly, for top-notch service and food quality, or you can spend a little less, choosing carefully, for top-notch service and food quality. it is not a restaurant a budget-mind person would frequent on a regular basis, but for the occasional high-class meal, this is theplaceto go.

speed of lunch? hardly!. my plaza office wanted to catch up with a co-worker who has been working remotely for several months with a nice restaurant week lunch at the capital grille. i've never eaten at capital, and jumped at the chance to join them. i don't know if reservations are par for the course, or only because it was restaurant week, however, we arrived on time for our 12:15 appointment and was pretty quickly ushered to our table, which was reserved for eight, but because of work pressures, only five could come. theplaceexudes old money and power dinners with dark wood and fancy, gilt-framed paintings. however, the charm quickly wore off. our service was pokey. considering this was restaurant week, a time when places use this promotion to show off everything that is good about a restaurant....they should have amp'd up their game. i had the potato leek soup (good, silky, tasty) and sea scallops (served on a bed of israeli cous cous with olives - excellent). others had their famous truffle fries (excellent!). but, another disappointment was dessert. "homemade" cookies!?! several of us commented that this was lame. they tasted fine, but were not in the excellent category, and certainly not befitting a promotion such as restaurant week. we expected something like a decadent dessert shooter. we left, over an 1-1/2 hours later, wondering if we'd still have jobs when we returned. considering their website boasts about the "speed of lunch," i think management needs to revisit that statement. i'd often wondered what was behind the massive doors with the doorman outside. capital grille, you are now off my bucket list. only three stars from me for an uneven and lackluster performance.
