best breakfast place i have tried to date in calgary! it tasted amazing and the portions were very filling. make sure you call ahead of time to put yourself on thewaitlist as it can get quite busy (i went on a long weekend and thewaitwas about 1.5 hours). the server was very cheerful and served us very quickly. overall, i had a very enjoyable experience and would recommend this place to everyone!

the bro'kin yolk is by far my favorite brunch spot in yyc! the atmosphere is nice - very homey! the servers are lovely and the food is delicious!

i've been here numerous times and what always brings me back is their chicken and waffles! they are the best in town! the waffles are fluffy, the chicken is not dry and the two sauces that come with the dish are perfection (especially the white gravy). another gem on their (kids) menu is the mac and cheese! you can tell it's been made from scratch, it's super cheesy and delicious. though this breakfast joint is a little pricey (ranges from $14-$16) imo it's totally worth it given the portion size and the quality! would highly recommend calling the restaurant in advance to be put on the waitlist (especially on the weekends) as thewaitis normally 1-2.5 hours long. would definitely recommend! 🙂

a couple of months ago we decided we wanted to have a nice breakfast out.  after looking through reviews and seeing how much others enjoyed this restaurant we thought we'd give it a try.  upon arrival we found it to be jam-packed to overflowing which was a good sign, with a 20 minwaitfor the bar or a 1hrwaitfor a table.  we chose the bar, which gave us a good view of the cooks.

the atmosphere was a bit chaotic but it was busy so that's no surprise.  the wall nearest the entrance had writing all over it and some of it was hard to read, but the place overall looked very clean.  our seats were announced via text which was great because we wouldn't have heard our names called over the din.

after perusing the menu we ordered chocolate milks (because we saw someone else's and they're huge).  derek had the upstream benny and i got a house cured bacon breakfast poutine with the eggs scrambled because i don't like poached (runny) eggs...

it was a little bit of a wait, so we were halfway done our delicious, enormous chocolate milks by the time the food arrived but i'd noticed something interesting.  the first time the eggs were done and put on top of the hasbrowns, he spied something that he took out of the dish, along with the eggs, and had them re-fired.  i really appreciate that he caught whatever it was and replaced the ingredients before it could be brought to me.

now the dish itself...  the duck fat hash on the bottom was divine...honestly anything cooked in duck fat has such rich amazing flavour that it just made the potatoes perfect.  the eggs were well-done just the way i like them with a dusting of something i think might have been paprika...the roasted garlic hollandaise was really creamy and blended great with the eggs and giant chunks of bacon.  part of me wanted more sauce, and part of me kept saying "no way, this is rich enough!"

it was so delicious i can'twaitto go have it again, when i'm hungry enough to handle it.  the portion sizing had us leaving full, without any need for extra sides.

as we were paying the bill the waitress let us know that their text-based table notification doesn't just work when you get to the restaurant, you can call in advance and they'll let you know in time to drive over.  that's so fantastic i wish more restaurants offered that kind of notification service.

we will definitely be going back.

went to the new signal hill location and it was pretty good. called ahead and was put on thewaitlist and got a table at the promised time. the food was good and the service was excellent. the only drawback to the new location was the size of the table for 2 people. it was very small. i’m a larger individual and i pretty much just fit. overall, not a bad first visit and i would come back again to try some more of their dishes.

this small restaurant has a brilliant system for theirwaitlist which is great because the restaurant is small and always crowded. as mentioned in other reviews the service was extremely friendly and efficient. once we finished eating however, they were clearly anxious for us to leave, repeatedly checking in on is and bringing the bill right away. i understand this (again: small restaurant, longwaitlist) but i enjoy visiting with friends over coffee after breakfast and dislike feeling rushed out. i ordered the bacon benny which was delicious. their bacon has a sweetness to it that was a happy surprise for me but my friend didn’t like it so that’s just a matter of preference. everyone raves about their duck fat breakfast potatoes... i thought they were good but certainly nothing that stood out over something similar i’ve had at other restaurants or even made myself. or perhaps i just don’t appreciate the nuances of duck fat flavour. this was an enjoyable breakfast to be sure, it just didn’t stand out to me as being head and shoulders above other breakfast places in town (which admittedly are few and far between outside of downtown!) i would happily try it again but have others on my list i might choose first. (i would give it 3.5 if i could)

finally got to try the place. it was good but it wasn't anything that special towaitfor 2-3 hours for. the service and food were about average. nothing to complain about but nothing to write home about. my favourite thing was probably the salted caramel sauce.

one of my favourite places for brunch in the city. i've been going at least once a month since they opened. apologies to the staff, my friend and i usually go there to eat and complain about our week, so if we sound super negative it's nothing at all to do with the restaurant or food. the super homey ambiance is conducive to just talking and catching up. i've had ridiculously good service each and every time i go, one of thewaitstaff went through the trouble of digging through a box of condiments just to get my friend raspberry jam even though we said we didn't mind the strawberry, he just overheard her saying how she prefers raspberry. gold star, we definitely appreciated it!

i've tried nearly everything on the menu and there isn't really anything negative i can say about it. i agree with some of the other reviewers regarding the balsamic, it can be a bit overwhelming so you can ask for light balsamic or maybe on the side if you're not a fan of it. the duck fat hash has never let me down, and i am a fan of all of their eggs benedict, but my absolute favourite is probably the truffle, ham & wild mushroom breakfast poutine. it's so filling, most of the time i end up taking some home. you can also order off their children's menu ("for the littles" in the centre of the menu) and treat those as snacks/sides. i was craving mac & cheese one day and theirs is exceptional.

might be a bit biased because it's close to home and i've had nothing but good experiences and fantastic food here. :)

great service! everyone was so warm and welcoming and the staff seemed to be a little family with each other. amazing coffee with so many refills. had a tiny waffle and nutella sauce to start (which was great!) and the breakfast poutine. the food was really good. we knew about thewaitsystem and called ahead, but didn't have towaitbecause of inclement weather. i'm so happy that a trendy, cute restaurant with a local menu has sprouted out of downtown!

really great place for breakfast and/or brunch! this nice little place tries to use locally sourced ingredients wherever possible! i suggest trying their eggs benny dishes because instead of an english muffin as the base, they use freshly made waffles! the staff are all super nice and friendly as well. they do get busy so expect towaiton the weekends, but it is very worth it!

walked in with no reservation on a very busy saturday, 3 children and 3 adults and we are seated in about 15 minutes which is excellent for a saturday brunch time.
the restaurant was packed and we still had excellent, cheerful service and thewaittime was reasonable for such a busy place.
i had the apple pie waffle, it was fluffy and delicious, the apples, cream, pecans yummy ... quite an indulgence. ordered a medium poached egg on the side and it was coined perfectly. my toddler had the french toast which was gone very fast and then he wanted more rather than his fruit of course. another of the adults had the chicken and waffles and enjoyed that as well.

we called ahead and got in about half an hourwaitwhich wasn't too bad. the prime rib hash was delicious. the little farmers plate was a great portion for our two young toddlers - for $7 it was a good deal! i have to agree with the reviews on the chicken on waffle. the waffle was disappointing, very thin and pale, i think we could've cooked one better ourselves and for the price. the chicken was good, however, and the sauce that came with it was nice. my husband also enjoyed his sous vide chicken poutine. all in all, decent meal, we will be back.

server told us there would be a 45 minwaitat the beginning, but got us a counter seat in 10 min which was good. food was served fast, taste however was just average. i ordered a bacon benny, the potatoes was very good, pouched eggs had no taste. and the waffel was soaked in sauce so it became very soggy. my fav brkfst place by far is still oeb.

food was great but thewaitwas very long and the staff seemed very disorganized. there were big groups there that were clearly upset by the wait. i guess it's super busy as it hasn't been opened for long and it's one of the few brunch places in the area, but thewaitis a little too outrageous for me and the place feels a little too chaotic. i'llwaituntil the craziness dies out and/or they get the place under better control because as good as the food is, it's not worth a 1 hourwaitto eat brunch, especially when there isn't much around the area to waste your time with.

we were so excited for bro’kin yolk to open up because it meant we could finally grab brunch near home without having to drive all the way down to bridgeland or kensington or worse, downtown! we finally got the chance to come on two different days and the outcome was drastically different. we came both on weekdays and a saturday, and truthfully, it felt like we went to two different restaurants. on the weekday, it was quieter (which makes sense), very relaxing but the food was very mediocre. it also felt like they were slightly over staffed that day with lots of servers aimlessly wandering the restaurant. on the saturday, it was busy with a 20 minutewaitfor our table, but the food great and staff were super helpful and always had a smile on their face.
