yuk!. although the cakes and cookies are beautifully decorated, unfortunately, that's where the goodness ends. most of the baked goods i have purchased are dry. the only moist cake i've had is the carrot cake. the decorated cookies are ok, not great. the coffee cakes and pound cakes are always dry; they almost seem "day old" or so...

the turkey sandwich was good, but very expensive. i enjoy supporting local eateries, but the value just wasn't there for me. i'd rather go to carl's deli just down the road.

posted on 17 apr, 2015 by mindy trujillo leave a comment since this is my birthday month, i have to highlight my most favorite cake of all time: bonbonerie’s opera cream torte .  what i learned recently is that this is bonbonerie’s original, signature cake- it’s been on the menu for over thirty years!  smart people.  i know nothing i say can do this dessert justice, but i will try.  the opera cream torte is made with layers of moist, rich, dark chocolate cake, chocolate chips, rich opera cream filling, and iced with creamy chocolate ganache, chocolate chips, and white chocolate diamonds.  it’s absolutely a-maz-ing!  like choirs of angels singing, a-maz-ing!  not cheap, but truly decadent.  order a whole cake or just grab a piece to go! the first picture is from my mom’s birthday in october; check out the cool cookies around the cake.  the second pic is from a recent take out order! there are a few local businesses, such as dewey’s pizza, that offer the opera cream torte on their menu which is incredibly fortunate for people like me who have chocolate emergencies because unfortunately, bonbonerie isn’t open in the evenings.  i have actually gone to dewey’s just for the opera cream torte.  true story! inside the bakery, cases are filled with beautifully bright cookies, assorted cakes and pies, melt-in-your-mouth brownies, and more.  everything is beautiful and enticing.  bonbonerie also does an incredible creme brulee . honestly, it’s the best creme brulee i’ve had in the city!  the vanilla and chocolate custards are deliciously creamy and topped with the perfect layer of caramelized sugar- never burnt. also noteworthy, seven hills , a local, wholesale specialty coffee roaster, provides coffee for bonbonerie and has created a couple special blends just for them.  my favorite, of course, is the opera cream blend .  it’s smooth, balanced, a little sweet, with low acidity.  we have often gotten a box of treats and a coffee to go.  then we go to a local park and

the bonbonerie has ties to supporting child abuse.... wait corporations are people too that would be a grey area. sharon butler the owner of the bonbonerie supports dehumanization and serious abuse against children by her brother peter davis. it's a persona request. sharon butler has supported and severe child abuse by her brother against his children. it's extremely important that you boycott the bonbonerie. the simple truth is child abusers and the monsters that support them never get the horrible price they deserve to pay. this isn't ray donovan. but walk in there and you are contributing to it. you are providing social support for those who engage in antisocial behaviors. the details would make you want to kill her if you have a conscience, so i won't go there but it is fair to say that sharon butler supports abuse against children as well as many other truly disgusting transgressions. boycott the bonbonerie.

for diner en blanc, we ordered the tea lunch which included assorted tea sandwiches served with fresh fruit and a bonbonerie pastry.  along with the artisan cheese plate: three of our hand selected artisan cheeses, genoa salami, spiced pecans, apricot onion chutney, seasonal fruit, honey and homemade cracker bread.  they were the perfect way to start our meal.  i loved that i got such elegant food without having to lift a finger.  each was delicious and beautiful to plate.  we ended up with a ton of food left over as well.  loved it!

bakery lover. my child attends school in this area and we frequent this wonderful bakery. it is a guilty pleasure eating the delish carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and molasses cookies. we have sampled other items that are also wonderful, but these two are our favorites.

...the chicken salad plate ($9.95) which had two big scoops of chicken salad with almonds, celery and green onions tossed in a light curry dressing. the plate also has field greens with house balsamic and fresh baguette slices.... it was delicious!

could be a little nicer. i would expect someone to wait on me rather promptly when i am the only person standing in line. multiple workers walking by....hello ???
please don't act as if you are doing me a favor by taking my order after i had to ask for assistance. sighing loudly is very irritating, and a thank you would have been nice after i paid for my order.
ps the opera cream cake was dry too

rude staff. the pastries were dry and tasted as if they had been frozen for months.

i wanted something amazing for lunch the other day, so i stopped by bonbonerie café. i’ve had tea in the pastry shop, but never eaten at the café. i wanted something light so i opted for the fruit & berry salad. it was so cute, but not necessarily filling. i should have opted for the half sandwich & half salad, but they only offered the mixed green salad with that. my mistake. i enjoyed the fresh fruits & berry and the zing in the lemon poppy seed dressing. i just wanted more!

great when you can get in. the cupcakes, cakes, scones, and all things baked are wonderful. getting in when they're open is the challenge. i always arrive to a wait. and it's worth waiting for.
i've been to several weddings where the cake was from the bonbonerie, and was phenomenal.

great goodies / terrible hours. i like to drink coffee and work with my baked goods, but the bonbonerie has such limited hours that this really isn't feasible. on the upside, i'm probably 10 lbs. lighter than i would be if this was my work spot, so... maybe not such a bad thing.

afternoon tea?. my daughter and i had an afternoon tea reservation at the cafe that i'd made several weeks prior. to begin with, the cafe entrance (and the whole operation for that matter) is dysfunctional. it's not clear as to where to go to get a table when you get there. i had to wait in the carryout pickup line to tell an employee i had a reservation. the employee found our name but someone was seated at the table we were supposed to get. it was downhill from there. the service was horrible. we had to wait about 5 minutes to get a table, another 5 to get a menu, the tea's were mixed up, we finally had to ask for more tea, 10 minutes waiting in line to pay the bill, etc. if you want a nice peaceful relaxing place to have afternoon tea-go somewhere else. the cookies were good but next time i'll just pick some up from the bakery.
