the blue gator

fun place to eat. thebluegator is a fun place to eat ... we had the fried shrimp basket and it was very good. in our party of four, all diners were pleased with their meals. the service staff was prompt and very friendly. the restaurant is located adjacent to a river marina which gives it a very interesting atmosphere. the restrooms are small and a bit "rustic." the first time visitor may find the entrance drive a bit tricky to find.

best bar around. we love thebluegator! we come every fri night , most sundays and any other time we can! the food is great! the bands are the fantastic! and libby is the best server ! we always try to get her. the manager. joe is the best and capt bob is too ! if you have a chance to go to the gator don't pass it up !!!!

great salads!. was in down visiting family and checked out thebluegator before our airboat ride with captain bob (which was amazing!). the salads were wonderful!! good service too.

raw crab cake. my wife and i went out for our night without the kids. we decided to go to thebluegator because we a coupon for education. she ordered a salad with blackened grouper and really enjoyed it along with her bloody mary. i enjoyed the jack and coke and we were really surprised with how quickly the food came out. my crab cake was raw in the middle and so were the hushpuppies. we let the server know and i told her i would like a reuben instead. i realized i was not in the mood to eat anything after that so i quickly canceled the reuben. we received our check and i am just shocked because no one even apologized or offered desert or anything. we payed and left and on our way to the car a manager or cook smoking outside asked us if everything was alright. my wife, being too kind, said it was. we would have appreciated some acknowledgement that the food was not up to par.

nice hangout in dunnellon. tried thebluegator last night and after some initial frustration ended up having a nice meal. it was mostly our fault, but we went out on a saturday night to this restaurant -- the parking lot was full so we had to drive around a bit until we found a spot. and the seating is self-serve; so just find someone that is leaving and take their table. nice, relaxed-but-busy outdoor atmosphere, pretty good live music, and there was a fresh breeze coming off the river. we weren't in the mood for the fried fare so we tried the 1 lb steamed shrimp -- it hit the spot and was reasonably priced. this is definitely not a quick, get-in-and-out sort of place. give yourself at least 1-2 hours to dine, take in the fresh air, and enjoy yourself!

awesome outdoor dining. thebluegator is pretty well known by the locals but if you are visiting the dunnellon area i recommend stopping by, by boat or by car. great atmosphere outdoor dining on the river, live music at night, very friendly staff, and dog friendly to boot! the menu has burgers,wings,seafood, beer, gator nuggets and more....did i mention beer. a great place to have a beer for sure and all i've tried thus far is good.

grouper. the grouper sandwich is so delicious! blackened and grilled - super sandwich.
the staff must have stock in the place - they are super friendly and attentive.

love the view and the food!. a friend of mine and i ate at thebluegator, and i loved it! we sat at the stools nearest the water and watched boats go up and down the withlacoochie river while we ate lunch.

i'm not usually one for blackened fish but decided to take our server's suggestion of the blackened grouper sandwich, and it was delicious! if you're in the area, this is well worth the visit!

great place to slow down and relax.bluegator is a great place to enjoy the beautiful the withalacochee river under the old oak trees. the super grouper sandwich (blackend) and onion rings are my favorite. it gets very busy so you may have to share a table and it may take a while to get your order. but sit back, relax and get to know your new diner mates, listen the the live music or watch the big screen tv. sometimes you just have to slow down and enjoy the view. you never know what you may see or who you may meet.

angler family resort. anglers family resort in dunnellon florida is a great place for vacation. they have all types of activities like fishing, boating, airboat tours, singing river tours, and a new restaurant called thebluegator. they also have a motel with full kitchenettes in them. the singing river tours are awesome because this gives you the opportunity to relax and enjoy the rainbow and withlacoochee rivers. the rainbow river is so beautiful because you can see to the bottom of the river and everything underneath the water. this is a restricted river meaning there are no bottles or disposables aloud on this river because they want to keep it beautiful. captain jon semmes makes this singing river tour the best with his guitar and very thorough explanation of the river and its heritage. the airboat tours with captain bob jewett can be very interesting too. he specializes in alligator airboat tours, which make it very interesting. if you are afraid of alligators i would say don't go on this ride with captain bob because alligators are most likely going to be seen. if you have not been on an airboat in your lifetime, this is something you should try because it is a lot of fun. in the evening at angler's family resort you can go down to thebluegator restaurant and have fun with karaoke or just some fun live music. nothing could better show you how much fun you will have than just showing up there with an open mind and ready to have some fun!
