the blue gator

my favorite place. i love the food, atmosphere, beer, and the service has always been good. you must try the fried green beans for an appetizer and i love the grilled chicken sandwich black & bleu- soooo yummy. i have never eaten anything here that i didn't like. although getting a seat when theie busy can be an issue its worth it.

mixed review. restaurant very clean, staff friendly and prompt. food had mixed reviews from our party of 9. we all agreed fried oysters were good but the crab cakes were not, mushy inside and had to search for tiny pieces of crab. we all agreed the frozen fries and tator tots would be much better if they just used fresh n not frozen. our opinion, it was just ok, wouldn't run to go back but would give them a second chance.

fun place to eat. the blue gator is a fun place to eat ... we had the fried shrimp basket and it was very good. in our party of four, all diners were pleased with their meals. the service staff was prompt and very friendly. the restaurant is located adjacent to a river marina which gives it a very interesting atmosphere. the restrooms are small and a bit "rustic." the first time visitor may find the entrance drive a bit tricky to find.

best bar around. we love the blue gator! we come every fri night , most sundays and any other time we can! the food is great! the bands are the fantastic! and libby is the best server ! we always try to get her. the manager. joe is the best and capt bob is too ! if you have a chance to go to the gator don't pass it up !!!!

great salads!. was in down visiting family and checked out the blue gator before our airboat ride with captain bob (which was amazing!). the salads were wonderful!! good service too.

always end up here..... we are new to the area and always seem to end up here when we're not sure where to go. i like the grouper finger basket with sweet potato fries. great choice of beers. love the atmosphere on the deck by the river.

not worth the over priced meal you get! not that the food was all bad,but wow, when you leave a place hungry and you have spent $40, there is a problem! i ordered grouper basket and my portion was smaller than the kids chicken tender basket. also had to ask for someone to take our order. just overall we will not be back!

raw crab cake. my wife and i went out for our night without the kids. we decided to go to the blue gator because we a coupon for education. she ordered a salad with blackened grouper and really enjoyed it along with her bloody mary. i enjoyed the jack and coke and we were really surprised with how quickly the food came out. my crab cake was raw in the middle and so were the hushpuppies. we let the server know and i told her i would like a reuben instead. i realized i was not in the mood to eat anything after that so i quickly canceled the reuben. we received our check and i am just shocked because no one even apologized or offered desert or anything. we payed and left and on our way to the car a manager or cook smoking outside asked us if everything was alright. my wife, being too kind, said it was. we would have appreciated some acknowledgement that the food was not up to par.

great atmosphere. just a pleasant experience, good food, good atmosphere.

nice hangout in dunnellon. tried the blue gator last night and after some initial frustration ended up having a nice meal. it was mostly our fault, but we went out on a saturday night to this restaurant -- the parking lot was full so we had to drive around a bit until we found a spot. and the seating is self-serve; so just find someone that is leaving and take their table. nice, relaxed-but-busy outdoor atmosphere, pretty good live music, and there was a fresh breeze coming off the river. we weren't in the mood for the fried fare so we tried the 1 lb steamed shrimp -- it hit the spot and was reasonably priced. this is definitely not a quick, get-in-and-out sort of place. give yourself at least 1-2 hours to dine, take in the fresh air, and enjoy yourself!

everything was seasoned and cooked almost perfectly. great place to eat after a long day of tubing and baking in the sun.

average and expensive. was just ok for what you get. we were expecting something really good after looking at all the reviews, but it was just average 2 star for a 12.00 fish sandwich and a 11.00 cheeseburger and a 10.00 chicken salad that had very little chicken. i don't mind the price if it's really good, but we would have had a better meal at the mcdonalds down the road.

love this place!!. this place is awesome, love the food and the view of the river. we have eaten here for years now. gator bites,ruben(to die for)crab cakes, fish sandwiches, cheese steaks ...well what more to say? but, give yourself plenty of time the servers are laid back and sometimes slow. go anyway because it is worth the wait!

no parking, full of hicks, country music, many locals, good food, very cheap. still, totally worth it.
